I lost my mom last year, she died of Covid. Everyone keeps saying it wasnāt my fault, but I know it was. I know it was 100% my fault. I was the only one who couldāve given it to her. I was the only one who left the house. It doesnāt matter what people tell me, because the reality is that Iām the reason sheās dead.
Now I think Iām sick. And Iām terrified of the possibility of it being Covid. I was out around other people last Saturday, Iāve been coughing, my ribs and chest hurt. My brother has an immune system unlike my mom who didnāt but I canāt think of anything but the fact I might end up making him sick. I canāt lose someone else, I canāt let someone else die. I canāt be the reason one more person dies before their time. I already feel like a bad omen all the time, i already feel like Iām bad news for everyone around me. I donāt think I could live with the guilt if something happened to my brother.
Even if nothing happens, the idea that I might have Covid again holds so much baggage for me now. I feel like if I get it again itās just proof that Iām a bad person, a bad son.
If I get Covid again then it feels like Iām no different than I was a year ago. Like I havenāt changed, like Iām just as horrible of a person as I was back then. It feels like a moral failing on my end. I donāt know if I could handle it being covid. I miss my mom.

Hey everyone, Iām dealing with a frustrating housing issue, and I could really use some advice from anyone familiar with LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) properties, Section 8 (PBV), or housing discrimination laws.
My Situation: ā¢ Iām 31 years old, financially independent, and have a Project-Based Voucher (PBV) through Section 8. ā¢ I applied for an apartment at a LIHTC property, and despite meeting all income requirements, I was denied solely because Iām a full-time student with no dependents. ā¢ The property is citing the LIHTC āstudent rule,ā which prohibits households made up entirely of full-time students. ā¢ This rule was originally designed to prevent dorm-style housing, but Iām a fully independent adult who needs affordable housing.
Why I Think This Is Wrong: ā¢ I am NOT dependent on my parents and fully support myself. ā¢ My PBV is supposed to ensure I have access to affordable housing, yet Iām still being denied. ā¢ Other PBV recipients who are married or have kids get approved, but I donāt, which feels unfair. ā¢ The LIHTC rule doesnāt seem designed for people in my situation, and I wonder if thereās an override or exemption Iām missing.
What Iāve Done So Far: ā¢ I asked the Housing Authority of Pittsburgh (HACP) if my PBV overrides the LIHTC student rule, but they havenāt given me a clear answer. ā¢ Iāve contacted HUD and fair housing advocates to see if this is a discriminatory denial of housing. ā¢ Iām preparing to file a formal complaint if necessary, but I want to be sure Iām not missing a simpler solution.
My Questions: 1. Does anyone know if a PBV can override the LIHTC student rule? 2. Have you or someone you know gotten around this rule in a similar situation? 3. Is this something worth pushing as a Fair Housing discrimination case? 4. Any advice on how to fight this with the housing authority or LIHTC management?
Iām really frustrated because I qualify in every other way, but this technicality is blocking me from getting housing. If anyone has experience with this or knows what I can do next, Iād really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!
