2025.01.31 01:10 StrandedPassanger Odd RAID card behavior - First time I have ever seen this.
I have a pair of 10-year-old SuperMicro servers that I am using for a Proxmox cluster with a FreeNAS backend running ZFS for cluster storage so I can perform live migrations of the VMs.
My SuperMicro servers have 2 X Samsung SSD's for Proxmox and logs in a RAID 1 and 8 X 2 TB WD Gold SATA drives as a VM/ISO storage repository in a RAID 6.
One day (about 1 month ago) we lost one of the WD 2 TB drives, and we pulled the drive and replaced it with a new WD 2 TB drive while we sent the bad one back for warranty replacement.
When we put in the new drive the system refused to initialize the drive (which is fine, I just figured I would fix it when I had a chance, as we had the RAID 6 running).
This week I decided to try and fix the RAID, so I migrated all of the VMs over to the other node in the cluster and then powered off the server (which of course is the head node of the cluster). I pull the drive back out and look at it, then test it in another server and it works fine (so the drive is good), put the drive back in the SuperMicro server and boot, and the boot takes forever (at least 20 minutes) but in the end, the system boots and everything looks ok. The new drive seems to be accepted by the RAID system and everything is grand.
Except everything is not grand as my cluster crashes a few hours after this and I have to go back and start trying to find out what is going on.
I rebooted the server and went into the RAID configuration to check on the drive (and here is where it became strange), the RAID controller had decided (for some inexplicable reason) to drop one of the SSD from the system completely, reforge the mirror using one of the 2 TB HDD disks, and then drop 4 more of the HDDs from the system and mark them as foreign and failed.
The RAID controller was still reporting that the Virtual Drives were intact and functioning properly.
I needed to remove all of the drives from the system and shred them on a Linux box and re-zero the drives. Then I had to erase the configuration on the RAID card, reboot, and erase the configuration on the RAID card again, then reboot, then insert the 2 SSD drives, build the mirror, reboot, then insert the 8 X 2 TB drives, and rebuild the second Virtual disk.
Reboot again and then install Proxmox over.
I have never seen a RAID card do this.
It is a LSI MegaRAID card...
Just wanted to see if anyone else has ever seen this type of behavior before?

Hey everyone,
I (30M) have been struggling with a mix of symptoms that doctors haven't been able to fully diagnose yet. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or has any insights.
Symptoms & History:
Joint pain & stiffness – Mostly in my ankles, with morning stiffness lasting 15-30 minutes. Sometimes my knees feel tight or burn behind them.
Swelling & skin issues – My legs swell significantly, especially my lower legs, and I develop blisters that itch. I also have dry skin, occasional eczema, and yellow toenails.
Nerve issues – Sensory disturbances in my toes, including numbness and occasional burning sensations.
Circulatory issues? – Livedo reticularis (mottled skin) on my legs, one foot was noted as cool with delayed capillary refill.
Respiratory issues – I have a history of sinusitis (since 2022) and had unexplained breathing issues a couple of years ago.
Fatigue & weight gain – Gained 15 kg with no clear reason, no fever or night sweats.
Urinary symptoms – Sudden, urgent need to urinate within a minute of feeling it.
Tests & Findings:
ANA positive – Still waiting on further ENA differentiation.
Lymph node swelling – A doctor noted a swollen preauricular lymph node.
Eosinophils slightly elevated – Could indicate allergies or something else.
High blood pressure
Recent ER visit – They found edema in my legs but no clear cause. Blood gas showed respiratory acidosis (low pH, high CO2, low O2).
Doctors & Next Steps:
Rheumatology referral to investigate ANA findings.
Urology visit scheduled due to sudden urinary urgency.
Has anyone experienced a similar mix of symptoms? Could this be autoimmune, vascular, or something else? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I'm 48yr ++- IDC/ILC. Had single mastectomy Dec 12th. Pathology showed 1 of the 2 sentinel lymph nodes removed was positive for a macromet 2.2mm. So my treatment plan now includes chemo and radiation. My oncotype is 9 but my MO says chemo is a benefit because Im pre-menopausal. I had a CT and bone scan. CT showed an indeterminate liver lesion. The thing is, many years ago, I had an abdominal CT that showed a benign liver lesion and its noted in my medical record. But we don't have the old CT to compare it to. The radiologist recommended an MRI which I can't get because I have a tissue expander in. We tried to get a PET scan ordered but my insurance denied it. My MO won't start chemo until we confirm this is benign. She is asking my plastic surgeon to remove my tissue expander so they can do the MRI. I don't want that! Putting me through a surgery to remove a perfectly good tissue expander just to get a scan is crazy to me. Find another way. Can't they appeal the insurance denial? Or find some other type of scan. Im so frustrating. Plus the added stress of the what if this liver lesion is not benign. Ugh, I hate all of this.

2025.01.31 01:10 DistantGalaxy-1991 Risk of surgery - Aortic Aneurysm AND Valve Replacement.
Male, 60's otherwise healthy never-smoker, no previous history of heart disease, normal blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. No other medical issues, not on any meds. Live in the U.S.
Asymptomatic. Found 'accidentally' during a CT scan for back issue. 4.5 cm Ascending Aortic Aneurysm, and a moderate regurgitating valve. I presume they'd do both while they're in there for either one. Does this greatly increase the odds of dying during the procedure?
It's not scheduled, but it seems likely that this is in my future.
Also, what signs should I look for to know my regurgitating valve is getting worse? High BP? Higher heart rate? (It's around 49-60 now) Lower oxygen count? I check all of these several times a week.
