Welcome to SimplyMinecraft, a new anarchy server that was just founded. I have ran many minecraft servers over the years and I was tired of dealing with a lot of plugins, player reports, and everything that comes with being the owner of a minecraft server. So recently I decided to open a minecraft server that requires as little admin interference as possible. Introducing; SimplyMinecraft (or SimplyMc). SimplyMinecraft is an optimized 1.21.3 minecraft server that is dedicated to providing an environment with as little admin interference as possible.

2025.01.31 01:30 DidTheGoatDance Kitten won’t eat anything

I’ve had my British shorthair kitten for almost a week now. When I got him last week I thought he looked too skinny. He did eat a little bit of dry and wet food the first day. He only ate very little dry food (just a couple pellets) for the next 2 days, he’ll smell the wet food and walk away. He has a total lack of interest in food. Yesterday and today he literally ate nothing (except for a squeeze churn treat) . Other than that he’s acting normal. He did throw up a mucous like liquid this morning
I took him to the vet yesterday and she didn’t think it was any big deal and tested for parasites. There were none. I’m bringing him to the urgent care vet tomorrow. I’m really worried but like I said, the vet was unconcerned. The kitten does not eat. It isn’t normal.
Does anyone have experience with anything like this. I’m worried it’s some kind of infection I understand the cat hasn’t been with me long, but this not eating hardly anything at all is worrisome.

In a previous post my my wife left one Food Lion and went to another. She has been working at the new one for about 2 and a half weeks but never got a check. They told her the checks were at the old one and so we drove the 40 minutes and picked them up yesterday. One was her final check from the old store and the other was for the first week of work. Well today they gave her another check that included the first week again but also has the second week of pay as well. Should she cash the check and give them the difference back or not cash it and wait for them to fix the mistake?

I’m at a career crossroads and would love some perspectives.
I fully understand that this is my decision to make, but I’m curious to hear different viewpoints.
I’m currently a Senior Director-level product leader with an opportunity to move into a Senior Director role at a larger, well-known bank (non-tech). The bank has a reputation for PIPs, but, this level tends to be more stable. On the other hand, I also have an opportunity to step into a VP of Product role at a Series C tech company in the retail vertical.
The VP role is something I’ve been working toward and would allow me to take on greater leadership responsibility. However, it comes with more risk—likely a lower salary and the inherent instability of a growing startup. The Senior Director role, while not an executive position, offers more stability.
I’m in my mid-40s and aiming to break into executive leadership before ageism becomes a challenge. Given these options, what would you do? Would you prioritize stability or take the VP role to accelerate the path to executive leadership?
Would love to hear your thoughts!

so i’ve been working at this company for almost a year now, and my boss (let’s call him dave) has always been... weird. not in a creepy way at first, just overly friendly. always complimenting me, finding reasons to stop by my desk, laughing a little too hard at my jokes. but i figured whatever, some guys are just like that.
but last week, he called me into his office for a “serious talk.” i thought maybe i screwed something up, but nope. he started off super professional, saying how much he appreciates my work, how he sees so much potential in me, blah blah. then he hits me with “i want to fast-track you to a better position, but i need to know you’re willing to... be flexible.”
at first, i didn’t even process what he meant. i was like, oh maybe overtime? different tasks? but then he gets up, closes the door, and leans against his desk like, “i think we could help each other.” the way he said it, the way he looked at me, i instantly knew.
i kinda laughed nervously like “uhh what?” and he just smiled, all casual, saying, “it’s up to you. you don’t have to answer now.” like he was doing me some huge favor.
i left his office feeling sick. i haven’t told anyone, not even my work friends. i feel like if i say something, he’ll find a way to fire me, and i need this job. but if i don’t... what if he tries again? what if he’s done this to other girls?? i don’t know wtf to do.

I was a Sky beta player since Jan 2018 and I was deeply sick of how the mods on the future official Sky Discord in 2019 (and a few other places) cultivated this atmosphere of worshipping TGC like gods and deities. It was/is extremely unhealthy.
They would almost always respond to any moderate criticism or complaints of Sky with excessive defending of TGC, and they would always add some kind of justification on TGC's behalf, which was in the vein of TGC always makes the right decisions in the end because they are visionaries, and they supposedly care about compassion and all that, and they know what's best for players more than you and I do .
For example, criticisms of grinding, of prices, of difficulty spikes in Eden, of game-breaking bugs, of problems with exclusivity of seasonal ultimate items, etc. were all met minimising the feedback, with variations upon: "Oh TGC needs to make money for their wonderful game", "Here's why I personally really like this feature", "Eden is meant to be difficult because TGC knows how to make things profound", minimising the impact of bugs instead of asking for more information to reproduce the bug, etc.
Well, guess what: most studios are also making money off their games and most studios work to add impactful moments to their games – but it's all a balance, and no studio is going to get it right every single time. This is why feedback is important.
And as a professional software engineer, their attitudes towards bugs was alarming. And I sought to do the opposite with users of our software: I acknowledge and apologise for the inconvenience that bugs caused, and asked them a few questions to help get more details on how to reproduce bugs.
And as a former student of game design previously, I was like “puke” every time I saw it, because we and the teacher certainly didn't give feedback on each other's games like that. We gave praises and criticisms on each other's levels and projects, and we would never defend our own decisions like those mods defended TGC.

Look at it this way…

Nothing is worse for creativity than years of being surrounded by a world calling you a genius. You see this in all human endeavors, especially the arts.
People who are on stage in front of a crowd, or on screen, get it worst of all.
The worst part is that TGC who made Sky is not at all the same people who made Journey.

The studio was later revived for the production of 2019 iOS title Sky: Children of the Light, another multiplayer exploration game albeit set amid billowing clouds.
So I truly hate the fact that the record of Journey was used to defend Sky when it was totally different people making it. If you look at the credits of Journey, only very few names remained on TGC's website for the development of Sky. Everyone else left TGC.
Unfortunately this culture spread to the entirety of the Discord and places like Reddit where those other TGC-worshippers have some mod capabilities as well.
I can assure you that most of the people who played early beta in Sky (during Sky: Light Awaits) don't treat TGC like impeccable deities. My friend who was a famous streamer of Sky beta also didn't like that attitude from them. Those were just a few who were the most loyal to TGC no matter what, which was very unhealthy.
So it's good to have a new subreddit where we can make legitimate complaints about Sky without someone immediately jumping to defend TGC no matter what.
I feel the need to criticise them because they don't represent all the people who played from that time.
