i am supposed to get a septoplasy and coblator turbinate reduction in march. the closer it is getting the more nervous i get about the recovery time. my doctor didnt say much about the recovery other than about a 2 week recovery time. some of the recovery times i see for people with similar surgery can be longer than the two weeks.
the main reason why i am nervous is i have a physical job, firefighter, and i was planning on only taking 2 weeks off. i had to fill out fmla paperwork to do so. now im nervous i will need more time to recover before going back to work and not sure if i should wait and see after the surgery or tell my work i need more time off now.
is 2 weeks enough time or does it mainly depend person to person? im also nervous for the whole thing just because i cant find many reviews on my doctor that will be performing the procedure.

2025.01.31 01:51 CallIll4211 Taunton MA Scary Shopping Experience
I’m freaking out. But I feel like I’m probably overreacting too. I went to Target in Taunton today with my daughter who is 1 to do some grocery shopping and get diapers, when I go I usually end up walking through the whole store just to get some exercise and baby loves looking at everything . When I first walked in and was getting my coffee, I noticed this guy standing by the dollar section just sort of on his phone. I didn’t really think anything of it obviously because why would I? Then, as I walked through the store this guy was every single spot that I was all the time or just waiting at the end of certain aisles on his phone. I started to get kind of freaked out because I am paranoid. So I kept trying to weave into different aisles and kind of hide but he always ended up in the same place as me it was crazy. So then I was like OK I’m gonna check out and leave and he decided to go to check out at the same time. The whole time waking around the store he didn’t have anything in his car except for one bottle of water after that whole time of walking around the entire store following me he had one bottle of water. So he checked out and self check out, and I went to a person to check out. I was thinking about asking an employee to walk me to my car, but I’m socially awkward and didn’t want to bother anyone lol. The guy looked over at me at one point and I probably gave him the meanest look I could muster. I was terrified walking to my car and I was holding onto my daughter’s arm just because I was worried someone was gonna try to grab her. So I threw every literally threw everything in the car. And put the baby in and locked the car while I walked around and quickly got in the car and locked it. And then immediately called my husband. I feel like I was probably overreacting, but it felt weird. This is why I don’t leave my house.

So I woke up this morning with a text from him sharing an earlier post in here (Titled — Why do they forget how hurtful some of the things they say are?) and I read every single comment. It was sad and disappointing. Classic RSD feelings came up, got teary eyed, but I manage them by expressing myself through music, art, and written word, so here I am. Please be kind.
For context, we are both diagnosed, and have been together for a year. However, I only got diagnosed recently (less than a year being medicated regularly) as I’ve been high functioning and masking well in school / life, but truth be told, it’s taken a toll on my personal relationships (although I’m only just realising that within the last year or so). With his urging, I’ve been in therapy once a week for the past 3 or 4 months, and we are currently working on Blame vs Grace thinking, self-esteem and self-love for the inner child. We’ve made some progress on the ADHD symptom management, but I find that most therapists don’t realise how hard it really is to stay on track and keep on the bandwagon (don’t blame them as neurotypical folk), and often treat it like a one and done item on their checklist.
Our differences have recently come to a head because of my lack of impulse control and not being able to repair things as quickly as he’d like. He thinks that I’m dismissive with his emotions, and similarly, I think that he’s disrespectful with mine when he gestures wildly and raises his tone. He does the same with his mom who has probably even worse unmanaged symptoms than me. I often find that he’s projecting his fears for the future and (health) anxieties on me, which I get, but also am unequipped to substantially deal with or provide comfort for.
My bigger question is — are there any positive examples here of couples who made it through? I know that the majority may be silent, and I’m only reading a small sub-section of people who are affected by these symptoms, but are there people who actually succeeded (or are in a good work in progress state)? I’m generally a very optimistic person (now I’m finding out that that may also be a bane rather than a boon?) and have always gotten the comment since young that I’m happy-go-lucky. It feels discouraging that even with another diagnosed person, I possibly have to make myself smaller in order to get what I most want in life(a peaceful and stable relationship).
In short, is there any hope for me at all? Where do I start? What resources should I be using? Are there positive stories here that someone can share?

2025.01.31 01:51 Gaming_Animation Starting to dislike my dad
Its maybe because I'm starting to mature now but when I think about it there are some real big flaws with my dad that make me feel just pity and hate. My dad is fat and he overly indulges in food and is lazy. When there is food he eats too much and it's starting to irritate and digust me as he seems to do noting to better himself. I love my dad but there are some things that make me tired of him. He seems better as a friend than a parent. Before when ever he does something actually more parent like it would make me think maybe he isn't so bad which is a pretty big flaw for to people in general. I just really want him to change for the better in some way wether its his health or his personality. Some of his flaws is that sometimes he would just talk shit to me like I would be playing games and he would talk shit to me for playing too much games. My mom seems to have given up on changing him for the most part but still tries to help him be better. I still have hope for my dad as I do see some good for him and he can be better but maybe I'm just being naive.
Anyways thank you for listening to my rant and I hope for a good day for you guys.

Had a huge HOA special assessment in 2023 that completely wiped out my emergency fund ($30k), the same year I lost my job. That was roughly 5 month’s worth of expenses. I’ve been slowly building it back up (not as gazelle intense as I would have liked but…life).
Anyway, I got a new job pretty quickly and with my bonus this year, I have just completed getting back to 5-months expenses (now $35k). 🥳
Except…I don’t wanna stop. I recently got married and I bring in most of the household income, with a rather large mortgage (only debt). With the job market being pretty brutal for my industry right now, I’m starting to get really nervous that 5 months may not cut it if I were to lose my job.
That said, I’m also not thrilled with having kept my retirement savings levels so low the last 1+ years (I kept employer match and HSA maxing). So I’m eager to get those levels up.
Anyone else exit BS3 feeling weird not growing it even further? I feel like my risk tolerance has plummeted now that I’ve experienced actually having to drain the ENTIRE thing the same year I lost my job.
