Just bought my first pair of McAllisters. I’m looking forward to wearing them but I notice two of the brogues seem too close together such that there is a notch/nick between them. I don’t care about the aesthetic but worry it might rip more easily over time. Am I overly concerned or should I send these back?

2025.01.31 02:12 Prudent_Fig9644 UPDATE my stepdad traumatized me and I don't know what to tell my family
So, first of all I want to add some context. If you haven't read the first post, go read it first, as there's context that's needed to understand this post.
So, last year I went to the police. I wasn't the smartest about it though. I So, this is more deleted video evidence I had, and I was planning to get new evidence, but before I could I broke down in public and vented out everything to an adult. And then I didn't have or choice on what to do anymore, and I hate myself for that.
My stepdad has grandchildren (I think they're around 7-9 years old), and I remember this one time they were over. Me in the house, with two of his grandchildren, and him. One of his grandchildren were sitting on the couch, and I sat by them just thinking, that I'd never let him hurt them. So, only having circumstantial evidence, and being stupid enough not to get more, really still stings.
That detail is important because, the case never went to trial because of "insufficient evidence".
I also want to give my reasons for being scared. First of all, my parents have never been the most emotionally supportive. Material stuff, that's always been taken care of though. But emotionally, they're just not there.
When I came out as bi some years ago, well I wasn't kicked out, but I very much got a reaction of "you can't know that yet". Also my stepdad made this comment that "you can't know that if you haven't had sex yet". But basically, even though my mom tries to support that now, it still stings that she didn't get it right the first time.
Second, I'm not the first he's done this to, my mom knew this and kept him in his life. I don't want to go into that situation, as I don't feel it's my story to tell, but basically he didn't go nearly as far as he did with me. Also, my mom and stepdad aren't married, so my mom wouldn't have any divorce papers to deal with if she wanted to leave, but she still stayed. I think I was around 9 or 10 when the person before me got hurt, for context.
Also, I've decided what to do. I'm going to tell the people in the family, that I think will believe me first, and the circle around to the people that I hope believe me but well, I can't be sure. Maybe I'll tell my parents, but I don't know. I've had nightmares about it. About telling them, and then they're screaming in my face saying I'm a liar. And then I wake up crying.
I just really don't want people I know are supposed to care about me, tell me that I'm a liar. I'll update again once I've told them.

Hey everyone,
Before I spend the money and realize it won't work for some reason I wanted to see if I could get this subs advice.
I work with "sticks" of twisted wire gage (i.e. 304 Stainless Wire of approximately 0.028" twisted into a helix) and want to heat one end of it very quickly (red-hot within 1-2 seconds).
If I purchase a simple coil kit from Amazon with a reasonably small Inner Diameter, are one or more likely to work for this purpose, or do I need more thought into the exact coil / power source etc ?
Open to other suggestions to achieve the same effect as long as it's "safer" than using an open flame.

2025.01.31 02:12 CL1PH Anyone willing to try out OST Game Jams? Great for preventing procrastination.
I see a lot of performance post that i think would work really well in the context of a video game sound track. Therefore wanted to ask if people here would be interested in participating in these OST game jam where you create and submit music based on a predetermined theme and time frame. For example some jams give you 2 days to make a song while others give a week.
I recently just submitted to the Weekly Note Composing Jam as well as a Fragments Game Jam centered around the the theme: "Dies Irae"
both were really fun and i thought this community would really enjoy these types of friendly events. At the end of the submission period there is a rating period where we rate each other and give feedback based on correlation to the theme.
Next game jam is coming up called weekly-note-composing-jam-4 , which starts every week. Great way to keep procrastination away as well.

2025.01.31 02:12 Deliriousdrifter It would have been nice if they had just made the new systems available with a drive upgrade instead of a giant buggy quest chain
Going through several hours of quests only to get a bug on the literal last step is infuriating. All i wanted was to explore the new planets, but they had to make a 50 fucking step quest full of hidden bullshit that can break at any point.
I got to the last step and set parameters and after that the game just bugged, talking to atlas further does nothing, warping does nothing, crafting another echo seed does nothing.
Maybe next time don't force players to have done every major piece of content in the game and just release the new worlds to everyone.
