I found this old Butterfly blade when clearing out my previous apartment. Must be at least 15 years old and I believe that it is no longer in production.
I'm only going to use this as a backup/practise blade, I have a spare sheet of Donic Baracuda that I intend to slap on for BH. Can you guys recommend a cheap Chinese rubber (I prefer a bit tacky) for the FH? My style is close to the table looping (both sides) and blocking. BH rubber suggestions are also welcome.
If it helps, my primary setup is Nittaku Acoustic Carbon inner with Yasaka Rakza Z on the FH and Baracuda on the BH, although I'm planning to upgrade to Dignics 09C on both sides for this one.

I was planning on ordering a Jerry YM 2.0 from CHS and was wondering if anyone had experience with them as a US citizen buying thermal. What does sales tax, import duties, etc look like. The total shown at checkout didn’t seem to reflect any sales tax or any kind which didn’t make sense to me. Also, would any issues arise with there being sanctions on InfiRay even though CHS is a Canadian importer? Finally, is the CHS thank Package Insurance worth the ~$140 charge? Any insight, advice, or guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there, I am blind and hearing impaired, meaning that I rely on the custom transparency mode from my AirPods a lot to get around. I use them as hearing aids. I just set up my Apple Watch with a new phone and noticed that I’ve been having an issue where the transparency mode suddenly goes back to normal. It doesn’t matter how many times I toggle it on and off, it just turns the custom features off over and over. The only fix that I have found is to disconnect my watch from Bluetooth, but because I use both of these for mobility and navigation having the Bluetooth connected is fairly important for me. Using it on cellular is not always an option because I frequently travel outside of the country. I’ve also tried setting the Background noise to see if that keeps it turned on, as also suggested in this sub. Unfortunately it doesn’t. I have reported this to Apple and see that a lot of others have as well, but I’m wondering if we as a community have found any fixes for this in the mean time? It's driving me insane that I have to decide between using my hearing aids or the gps accessory that helps keep me safe when I’m traveling. TYIA for any input, this sub has been super helpful

2025.01.31 02:20 Money-Reaction-6812 What’s the earliest onset of Crohn’s disease you’ve seen?
Background: My son is almost 14 months old and is either straining to stool for a few weeks and extremely constipated or having 5-6 looser BMs a day. The BMs are EXTREMELY rancid smelling even on the scale of nasty toddler poop. He’s been very fatigued lately and super crabby. I at first thought it was developmental, but it’s persisted since beginning of December. He’s a big boy, 28 lbs at his one year appt. He is now falling off his growth curve - not a ton, but he lost 1 lb between December and beginning of Jan and has not gained any more since then, despite eating like a horse.
2.5 weeks ago he had a small bowel intussessception and 1 week ago was hospitalized for 1 night with RSV.
We have a GI referral on 2/10 and his pediatrician has been following labs. Most recent labs are showing an ESR of 59 but a CRP of ~3. We are waiting to bring in a stool sample to test for calprotectin, but of course he just flipped to being constipated again.
My husband has Crohn’s, but was diagnosed when he was 32.
Do we think this could be Crohn’s or do we think his GI system is just inflamed and angry?

I have an issue where an app needs to use my admin account to authenticate. When I launch the app it keeps failing without giving me an option to sign in. It's trying to auto sign in with my pc domain account and that account does not have access only my admin account. I have logged out of EVERYTHING Microsoft and Office to make sure that the prompt is not being feed from 365 services. I have tried on a windows 10 machine and it's working fine. So l have concluded that it's a windows 11 issue. What feature is doing this and how do I disable it.

So, I am relatively new to swordsmanship, I have practiced "swordsmanship" and LARPing for a couple of years now (I use the term swordsmanship lightly), but I am to the point where I want to learn a proper discipline or style in the art. That having been said, my weapon of choice is the Bastard sword, I've looked into the style of German longsword, however it focuses mainly on two handed manipulations of the sword, but I also want to use my sword one handed. Is there any particular style that trains this, or do I need to learn a Longsword and Arming Sword fighting style and swap accordingly?

2025.01.31 02:20 humancapsid The seven red flags why I'm quitting my postdoc after just a few weeks
I really need to get things off my chest and maybe get some insights. I recently started a postdoc, and it's been such an awful experience that it constantly feels as if every fiber of my being is begging me to quit. I'll try to summarize the reasons why I feel this way:
i) From the beginning, it was clear that my postdoc was supposedly going to be collaborative, basically doing projects between two labs, although my full salary was initially just going to come from one PI's grant. However, over the weeks, it became clear that my PI wanted to make sure they had full control over me. For example, considering the mutual benefit of my contributions, the other PI offered to pay a significant part of my salary, but my PI simply refused. Then, the other PI offered to pay for any materials I needed for the collaboration, and again my PI refused. At this point, I had already tried to be communicative and transparent about the materials I needed, and I had emailed both PIs about this information. My PI did *not* like this, and has complained multiple times that I shouldn't have emailed the other PI because now the ordering got complicated and there is a lot of 'drama'. Literally every time we talk, my PI complains about this, and has instructed me to contact them first basically asking for permission before I contact the other PI or any other PI about reagents or any similar topics. During my PhD, my mentor was very hands-off, which allowed me to develop a strong sense of independence, so I am still not sure how I feel about my postdoc's PI controlling tendencies.
ii) On that note, I currently have a work permit that is officially sponsored by my PhD-granting institution, allowing me to work as a researcher anywhere in the US. My postdoc PI was aware of this from the moment I interviewed. However, over the past few weeks, they have been bringing up the topic of how to make it so that my visa is sponsored by them and not by my PhD-granting institution. I feel like this is completely unnecessary, as my current status does not interfere with my work, and especially given the current political situation, it would be a mess to try to change my visa.
iii) The power in the lab is disproportionately allocated to a particular senior individual. This person sets the culture inside the lab, pretty much decides who thrives and who doesn't based on favoritism, and clearly enjoys exerting control over as much as they possibly can (for example, the only way to print something in the lab is to send it to them, since nobody else other than them and the PI have access to the printer). On top of that, this person has very clear racist and classist biases, and from the very beginning was very comfortable making disgusting jokes around me and other lab members (who I've realized are either spineless or just as awful and either partake in this twisted sense of 'humor' or brush it off).
iv) I am postdoc, but I don't know everything, especially in a new field. There are techniques I have never done. The senior person in the lab obviously knows all the niche techniques of the field. However, anytime I ask for help, they clearly do not want to help. Last time I asked for something, they just literally told me to go figure it out. (And I did, but it was an idiotically unnecessary hurdle, given that I had to go to a whole other building and talk to a whole other group who were actually willing to teach me out of goodwill).
v) Bait-and-switch strategies. When I interviewed for the lab, I was very clear that I wanted to join the particular research environment the lab was in, and I mentioned that the lab's location and network had been literally the reason why I found out about the lab in the first place. Well, after joining, I learned that they were leaving that place entirely in just a few months. Same institution, but entirely different center, building, etc. I thought it was pretty disrespectful that this plan, which was known before I even interviewed, was not disclosed to me especially given the explicit reasons why I even interviewed in the first place.
vi) PI wanted to me write a postdoc-level grant, but then told me to actually just write a PI-level grant for them (and not write the postdoc grant). I know it's considered normal that postdocs and even PhD students write grants for their PIs, but my PhD PI never asked for anything like this, and instead encouraged me to write multiple trainee grants (which consistently got funded), which I personally think makes a lot more sense.
vii) Last but not least, the science. I thought I was gonna be working on exciting new things, and applying some of the expertise that I acquired during my PhD. Instead, I am constantly being assigned boring experiments that make me feel like I'm just a lab tech. My PI constantly talks over me and never really listens to what I have to say. For example, from day zero, I was very clear that I did not want to work on a particular thing. Fast forward just a few weeks, and now I am apparently the lead in a new project on that very particular thing I explicitly told my PI I was not interested in working on.
Overall, I just feel disrespected, and like I'm being seen like just a tool, rather than a trainee that can genuinely contribute while further developing as an independent scientist. Thankfully, I already have another offer in an environment that I know from experience is much more aligned with my values and scientific interests. I'm planning to hand in my resignation notice in 2-4 weeks.
Anyways, I guess I just wanted to vent and hear some thoughts.
