I’m responsible for hiring people at the company I work at and the worst candidates that I’ve had that should always show up late consistently have the highest demands want the highest salary, but have absolutely nothing to offer.
Many of them, don’t know how to spell, right and in cursive or even use proper vernacular or business acumen when on the job.

2025.01.31 02:20 jimmyjamcake How easy is it to install a humidistat myself?
Long story short, while i was away for work, my Dad hired someone to install a humidifier in my home.
I had the humidifier and humidistat (DV6062A1001)), all he had to do was install these. the HVAC tech took it upon himself to not install the humidistat that came with the unit and instead installed some basic unit (GF-MHX3). My sensors are telling me humidity is fairly low in my home which I'm not very happy about, despite cranking it.
I'm looking for advice on how easy it would be to install the humidistat that came with my humidifer as it seems to be more advanced

You might have seen me posting multiple times last couple of days/months. I understand it can be annoying. I might have felt the same but it has been hard. So, here is me venting and apologizing for the same. This is my second cycle. Last year, I was rejected from all schools that I had applied to. I know phd programs are difficult to get in, humanities lack funding, have a small niche and even a smaller intake.
I made my profile be better for this intake, getting the near perfect GPA, presenting at conferences, publishing research papers, putting in research hours, even working as a research assistant. I did everything, so as I sit here waiting, I feel hopeless.
I have checked gradcafe and people in the same course, in the same program have received their acceptance. So, I am coming to terms with the idea that I will be rejected. Academia has been kind to me or not.
But this community has. I wanted to thank you. I will be going on a full meltdown mode soon. I am tired. Months/ Years of trying to be the ideal candidate. I was clearly not. Maybe tomorrow I will feel better. But today, I can’t. I will not. I will mope. But I wish everyone the best. I really do hope you get in to your dream program. Those who have not been accepted, I wish you luck. The future will be bright. One day it will be. Maybe not today. But soon.

Somewhat inspired by an earlier thread I saw in this sub, but the names clearly have a pattern.
Strahd Von Zarovich Ismark Koleyanonavich Vargus Valakkovich
I am aware that it is fiction and may not mean anything, but Barovia is so clearly based on Romania, and I would love to know if anyone here is of Romanian or Slavic origin and can shed some light on how names in Barovia are likely constructed, assuming it's the same as medieval eastern Europe, and maybe even if any of the specific names have any meanings.
For example, what dos 'Von' mean in Strahd Von Zarovich? Is it to do with a title? Why does he have the 'Von' par I his name, but not someone like Ismark Kolyeanovich?
Another question I had, is what does the 'ovich' suffix mean? Is it an honorific, or part of the name? I'm guessing it's to do with gender, and that's women get the 'a' added at the end of their name, and that's why is it's Ireena Kolyeana, and Ismark Kolyeanavich. But that also seems to simple to be true.
I'm also curious how names are constructed in those parts of tbe world that Barovia is based on. Is it just a given name and a family name? Or is it like scandanavian where it's a given name, and your parents given name? Or is it more like medieval Bohemia where it's given name, and birthplace?
I'm curious if Strahd Von Zarovich for example is Strahd, who comes from the Zar family, Strahd, the son of Zar, or Strahd of a land called Zar.
Last question is just, anyone who speaks those languages or knows alot about that culture, are their any names that are obvious puns, references, or have a specific meaning related to their character?
