I had a few odd things happen during my wedding planning process that I can share with you, Charlotte. I love you by the way! You my boy, blue! I know you love to do yer accents, so you can read this whole thing in a country accent because I'm from Texas - so it won't be weird. Kidding kidding!
I hope this isn't all over the place, I'm gonna try to keep it as organized as I can.
For the record, I (34F) love my mother in law. She is not a monster-in-law from hell or anything like that. She is a very loving, sweet, and caring woman. I have known her since I was a teenager and she is never malicious or manipulative, but at times she can be kind of...unaware. So y'all...please don't say awful things about her because of the story I'm about to tell you. She was just excited to see her only son get married.
I was going to have a small-ish wedding of maybe 50 guests, 70 at most. I get very nervous when I have to stand and talk in front of a butt-load of people, so I was really wanting to limit the guests as much as possible and I did make everyone very aware of my nervousness and why I wanted limited guests. We found a small venue to match our needs, we had a grip on the catering, gift registry, photographer, makeup, we get our invitations sent out by text as well as printed versions blah blah blah all the things fell into place. Lawd, I should have known weddings are never that easy!
So when my mother-in-law got a text copy of the invitation...she started sending it to ALOT more people. It was 60+ additonal guests....and they were ALL confirming they would be there. There was one lady she invited that nobody actually knew, I believe my mother-in-law had only ever spoken to this woman over the phone because they had a mutual friend (that seems like an unimportant detail, but I'll circle back to this lady). So...my smaller 50-70 guest wedding was now a 130+ guest wedding. We were about 1 month away from our wedding date and I didn't know what to do about all the extra guests. There was basically nothing I could do. How do you tell 60+ people (a majority of them being my husband's family members) "Oh haha! she was just kidding, you're not actually invited". I had no idea how I was going to feed them with our limited budget. I also needed to let the venue know of all these extra guests. Sooo...I go to the venue to explain what happened, that I was sorry and I was unaware that this was even happening until it was too late. They informed us that they could no longer help us and it was too many guests in total. I couldn't even protest their decision because it made sense.
Because I knew my mother-in-law meant no harm and that it was just the excitement that got to her, I let it go. I didn't want to freak out, or make her feel worse than she already did after she found out what happened and why it happened. I just simply asked her to please stop inviting people because it caused us to lose our venue. She apologized and she stopped sending the invite out. That was that.
But...this issue then caused all these other weird things to fall into place....
I was on the phone in the bathroom at work freaking out to my Mom. A little back story here so the next part will make sense: My Mom wanted to get store bought macarons to make these little dessert decoration type thing and also make some other small desserts herself. I don't particularly care for macarons, but I agreed that she could totally do that if she wanted to. Back to the story: I am literally having a meltdown in the bathroom at work, telling my Mom how we lost our venue, that I probably will not find a new venue in such a short amount of time. You guys....she starts freaking out and panicking about how she didn't want to make all the extra dessert. She somehow became angry and frustrated with me and said that she was no longer coming to my wedding. Like what? I was so taken aback and I just said something along the lines of "That's ok, you don't have to come". I didn't want to feed into that "victim" mentality and beg her like "Please don't take away your desserts that I never asked for. Don't drop out of my wedding". You guys, I just wanted to talk to someone about what I was going through because in my mind this wedding was about to be canceled until further notice. This was somehow twisted into her a dessertproblem for her. You can probably guess my siblings and I had to do a lot of self soothing as children. I don't know, maybe she took my freak out moment as being directed at her when it wasn't? I still to this day don't not understand what happened there. I'm pretty used to my Mom's emotional roller-coaster rides so even though I was taken aback by it, it wasn't really out of character. Oh! Another thing to add! This was not a result of the extra guests, it was just something that stuck with me. From what I understand my Mom was calling me a bridezilla to my aunts. So we all go shopping for decorations one day and I guess they were expecting me to be all "RAWR. I eat souls because it's MY special day". One of my aunts says something along the lines of "You are being so calm and collected. Your mom said your were a bridezilla, but you're not at all". I was was tirelessly trying to make it a fun, or at least a decent experience for everybody that was helping me with the wedding. I knew if I acted stressed out and rude, then everyone else would catch that energy and get stressed out too. Finding out that bit of information kinda hurt my feelings becauseit was untrue and unnecessary. I think she just wanted to use the term bridezilla so she made a path for it, or she somehow like...wanted me to be problematic for the thrill and the story? I dunno. She's weird. As you guys can tell....I was a cool as a cucumber, with the exception of my meltdown in the bathroom. But like...who wouldn't be anxious at that point? I lost my darn venue a month from my wedding day, mmkay!
Anywho, We did find a nice venue at such short notice (Thank the Lord). Obviously, we had to bactrack and let everyone know that the location had changed. We just sent an updated photo of our invitation through text because mailing them was no longer and option. I felt so embarrassed having to go back to all those people like that.
WELLLLL...remember the lady that nobody actually knew? She was an older woman maybe in her 50s. We had spoken to her through text months before the wedding. I can't fully remember, but I believe she asked my mother-in-law for one of our numbers because she wanted to chat with us. My mother-in-law gave her my husband's phone number. It seemed nice because she didn't know us AT ALL and it seemed like she wanted to kind of introduce herself, right? Y'all....she...was...weird! She was just all over the place and sporadic with her texts. What I do remember is that she was telling us to take the crock pot we picked off of the registry because she has a very nice one that she has never opened or used. She was also telling my husband that I could borrow her "very expensive" wedding dress. Then she starts sending pictures of her in the wedding dress on her wedding day before we could even answer. It was so odd. I also remember her following up later on and asking us "Why haven't you removed the crock pot from the registry when I already told you that I am gifting you one". Like girl, maybe I want 2 of them. Mind ya business. So anyway, fast forward. She gets the updated invitation with the updated location and she texts my husband going off on him about how it was so inconvenient that we moved locations because she was driving into town for the wedding and getting a hotel near the old venue (I don't think she had even purchased the hotel yet). My husband was answering her back nicely with things like "We're sorry" and explaing what happened and why the location changed. This woman seemed so problematic and just WANTED to be mad. I feel bad for the poor fella she wore that wedding dress for. When she said SHEEE was inconvenienced...I was angry and I was very much over all the issues this whole thing had caused, so I told my husband " I do not want that crazy woman at our wedding. You tell her she's not invited and I'll burn her house down" (dont ask, it's just something I say when I get angry), but my husband let her keep going (he was having fun seeing what this crazy lady had to say). Well, the trash took itself out. After she was finished scolding my husband, she advised that she will no longer be attending and she is NOT going to give us our gift. We never heard from her again.
So yeah....fun times. My Mom did come to the wedding, she did not make the dessert, but she did pay for my cake. We ended up have 114 guests. My wedding went perfectly and everyone had a lot of fun. All the trouble was worth it.
I know you are all dying to hear the answer to this question: Nobody bought us the crock pot on the registry. I have ZERO crock pots!! Jk I already had one anyway.

Hello, I’m a second year undergraduate student majoring in neuroscience and minoring in mathematics. I’m doing a neuropsychology research internship and I expressed a lot of interest in learning how to do anything mathematical/statistical and my supervisor said that I could potentially be involved in that. However, I don’t have much knowledge in statistics and I’ve never taken a statistics class.
What are some good resources to efficiently self-learn statistics, especially statistics relating to biomedical research? I have money to buy textbooks but of course I prefer resources that are free. Also, I’ve taken math up to Calculus II and I’m currently taking Linear Algebra if that helps.

I have two planes based on Horatio Philips's 1904 and 1907 multiplanes respectively.
Plane #1 is pretty much done but I cant get the functionality quite where I would like it. I'm mostly certain that the design of Plane #1 just doesn't translate to trailmakers well. -Problem 1: It always pitches down and I must continually tap s to keep it straight, and I don't have the slightest clue how to solve that, I've looked at other planes and tried moving the forces around a lot. -Problem 2: It turns slow, probably because I cant get the drag centers particularly far back without ruining the look.
Plane #2 is what caused me to make this post. I figured its design will transfer over to trail makers better, and I was in the stage of testing that theory with a less form-over-function prototype build when it unexpectedly had an even more pronounced problem that I couldn't figure out -Pitches up massively, very annoying to drive.
Theres probably some fundamental part of plane design I don't understand, but I've made jets that fly fine, and I couldn't figure out how to fix my problems by looking at nice flying planes in the workshop. I feel silly not working it out myself, but I need help from the community so I can learn here.
