Hello,
Me and my girlfriend are planning to take a road trip from Cairns to Perth along the coast during a 4 month holiday. Our plan was to buy a car in cairns and then sell it in Perth, from where we will fly home again. We will primarily stay at Airbnbs but also a night or two in the car and at hotels. I can’t seem to get my head around the laws around buying a car and having an adress to register it at.
Is it not possible to own a car in Australia if you do not have a physical address? I mean, there must have been others who have traveled to Australia for a road trip? It this just for the cause of receiving mail and if so couldn’t that just be done online?

I recently went through the interview process with 49 Financial and was initially really excited. The people I spoke with seemed great, and they made the role sound like the perfect stepping stone into financial advising. They kept emphasizing how "few people make it this far" in the process, which, at the time, made me feel like I was on the right track.
But then, I started doing some real research.
At first, I only found positive surface-level info, but after digging deeper (shoutout to this subreddit), I started seeing a lot of serious red flags. I decided to take it a step further and reached out directly to a few former advisors on LinkedIn to get their perspective. What they told me completely sealed my decision to turn the offer down.
I heard lots of horror stories, but one really jumped out at me. According to them, no job is safe at 49—on either the advisor side or on their HQ team. Senior leadership apparently has no real answers when things aren’t going well; their go-to solution is laying people off. It’s a revolving door, and even those who think they’re in good standing can get cut at any time. That’s not the kind of environment I want to walk into, especially early in my career.
It’s also concerning that none of this information is easy to find. If you just Google the company, everything looks clean and professional. It’s only when you start reading real employee experiences that the picture changes completely.
At the end of the day, I turned down the offer. It sucks because I genuinely liked the people I met, and I really wanted a job in this space, but I also don’t want to get stuck in a company that treats employees as disposable.
For anyone considering 49 Financial, I highly recommend doing some serious due diligence. Don’t just look at their website—talk to former employees, check discussion boards, and pay attention to the patterns. I feel like I dodged a bullet, and I hope others do too.

From what I can tell the rails are not high enough on the posts which will cause the pickets to bow. All the rails are level with the posts, but each post is not in or out of the ground the same amount because they never used a string to match the posts up to that string. The string would be from end post to end post to make sure each hole depth matches up to post touching the string. How do you save this fence? I really need to kms because I’ve been holding this in for a while, and it’s really starting to affect my mental health. My dad has been unemployed for about 7-8 years now. He had a heart attack a few years ago, but he’s fine now—physically healthy and everything. There’s no reason he couldn’t get a job, but for some reason, he just hasn’t. My mom has been the one carrying the whole family financially. She works all the time while he stays at home, mostly just sleeping or scrolling through his phone. (Yes I know this might me really funny "scrolling through his phone" like a teenager but I hope yall understand what iam going through) Honestly, I can’t really understand why he doesn’t try to find a job, and it’s honestly making me feel kind of angry and frustrated. I’ve never directly asked him to get a job, because I don’t want to cause any tension, but I’m starting to feel like I can’t just ignore it anymore. And the worst worst worst part is that even though he’s not working, he spends a lot of time arguing with my mom’s family (like my grandma and her sister) over the most pointless stuff. It’s like he’s creating chaos at home, which just makes everything like really worse. Whenever i sit to study at home he just argues with them and makes the condition worse. And this makes me hate him so much, that sometimes I just wish my mom didn't marry this person at all. Yes I know this is not something a son should say but trust me when I say this it means iam going through much more mentally challenging stuff my age people never do.
My mom’s working nonstop, and it’s putting so much stress on her, but my dad doesn’t seem to care. Sometimes I feel like he doesn’t even realize what the family is going through. It’s starting to affect me too, especially with exams coming up in the next few months. I’m trying to focus on studying, but all this stuff at home is just weighing me down. I’m really stressed out about everything. And because of this or somehow my hair is shedding a lot like 20 30 hairs a day. Yes I know what that means I have quite a receding hairline which is gifted by my dad (thanks for him)
I feel embarrassed sometimes when people ask me what my dad does because I don’t want to tell them he’s unemployed. Yesterday my class sir asked me to join to a scholarship(for kids who is not financially well and good at studying) and he was asking what my dad does and I just made up something to prove that iam from a really a middle class family I mean Iam but I was just really anxious and it was very hard for me to reply to that question. I shouldve just said my dad is unemployed but i dont know i just didnt. It’s even harder when they ask how my family’s doing because it feels like I have to make up excuses just to avoid the truth. The whole situation just feels really messed up, and it’s making me hate my dad a lot. He can be really nice and loving, but I feel like he’s missing a big part which is SELF AWARENESS when it comes to what the family is going through.
I don’t really have many friends to talk to about this, and even if i talk i would just feel embarrassed i dont know i just cant. And there's not someone who actually understands me and know me very personally like not someone who knows what iam actually going through. Iam posting this here to just looking for advice or maybe hearing from anyone who’s been in a similar situation. How do you deal with a parent who isn’t contributing or helping, but they’re still causing a lot of tension at home. Iam 16m if anyones wondering
