2025.01.31 04:33 leefvc Anybody else’s gecko have a “pick me up” spot?
 | After I turn off Lila’s lights, usually she would come out after a bit and look around before climbing to her poop spot (the paper towel on top of her hide), doing business, and coming down to ask for dinner by her bowl. But over the past couple weeks, she started indicating that this specific rock, no matter where I put it, is her “pick me up” spot. I thought it meant she was hungry at first, but when she’s at that spot, she ignores food in tongs and follows me and tries to climb me instead. I began to oblige. However, I picked her up before she pooped a few days ago because she was being cute and wanted to come out. You can assume what happened next. I sat down with her, she walked into a crease of my pants, backed into a corner, lifted her legs and tail and did her business. There was nothing I could do when I saw the first signs. After cleaning up, she was still being friendly and sociable. I thought this was a one time thing, but the next time I saw her in her pick me up pose and offered a hand, she immediately climbed up and pooped on my hoodie sleeve this time before wanting to walk around and hang out. I had a feeling that would happen so I tried waiting, but it seemed like she intentionally waited for me to pick her up to poop. Today, she’s been going up into her pick me up pose when she sees me and I am not picking her up until she poops. She has food and water and temps and humidity are good. I placed a fresh paper towel for her to poop on like I do every day. But every time she sees or hears me, she looks at me and follows me around while standing on her pick me up rock. Okay let’s start with the most controversial and uncomfortable subject first in my little post here: 1:Seeing Red, what Spike did here was horrifying yes, but why do so many fans hold soulless Spike to a higher standard than Soulless Angel? We first met Spike looking to add Buffy to his list of Slayer kills. Spike and Dru’s relationship was also a good little hint at how hard he loved and also how unstable/toxic relationships for him were. Anyway add to that that Buffy verse vampires are canonically a demon soul taking over a human body and casting the humans soul wherever it gets sent… all the demons keep are memories and amplified personality traits (usually the bad ones) of their host.
Yes I am aware that Spike even soulless had some morals that most vampires don’t, but it’s also hinted that he only killed other slayers using underhanded tactics. Spike and Angelus may differ in their forms of abuse but both are still soulless creatures until Angelus is cursed and Spike goes through the trials. Skipping to the point here. Spike didn’t have a soul and what he did was messed up but people really need to start separating soulless from souled they sure do with Angel. Angelus literally tortured Buffy and her friends/family. Spike immediately regretted his actions and decided he had to go and get a soul to be a better vampire to her. Angelus had to be cursed to have his soul returned and become himself again.
We can also make conclusions as to why Spike with no soul seemed more morally superior to Angelus by looking at the humans they had previously been.
2: Anyanka. When Anyanka is first introduced it’s granting Cordy’s wish. Ofc we know how it ends and then we get Anya and her stuck as a ‘lowly’ human teenager. Anya doesn’t really have much personality imho upon first introduction like so many claim saying she was normal and then robotic like once she became more central… all i saw was her copying mannerisms/pretending at first. When she was pretending she came off as meek and awkward, but once she became a more central character she is very blunt and yes perhaps a bit robotic seeming in her bluntness.
The issue I have with people saying they don’t see why she didn’t revert to a more normal personality is none of you seem to remember the episode we get where we see some of her past with her Ex that caused the chain of events leading to her becoming Anyanka. He literally says in that scene that the barmaids talk about her because she is so blunt to shorten down the conversation a bit. Also she was called Aud then. Anyway so she has always been very blunt and etc but she hadn’t always been unkind as we saw in this too. She was raising bunnies and wanted to give them without bartering to townspeople as it would be a kind thing to do. This also gives us a possible association as to why she is afraid of rabbits.
3: Buffy loving Spike. This one also comes up a lot. Did we all not watch the same show? Do you guys remember her discussion with whatever his name was in Season 7 where all the dead people come back for the episode? She says roughly speaking that she doesn’t want him to love her because she doesn’t feel worthy of love from any of the men she has dated. Also her and Spike’s chemistry has always been there in my honest opinion the first sign if you ask me was when he asked her if they could work together… yeah bc he wanted Dru back or whatever but when they cooperated for that little bit you could tell there was something. Her love for Spike didn’t fully form I do agree with this. She was attracted to the passion, the escape, and afraid of loving him (soulless Spike rightfully so).
People glorify her and Angel’s relationship a lot when in actuality it was more so obsession especially on his side than something I would consider healthy.
I say this people bring up Spike stalking her… yeah but he didn’t even have a soul then what is Angel’s excuse?
Alrighty moving on in this: The way she denies loving Spike so vehemently when asked how she is scared to form a how she cares for him is because again she doesn’t want to love him or admit to loving him and again Fair.
4: Dark Willow. This was always coming, from the first time she started showing an interest in magic and Giles warned her against it. Giles knows what Dark magic can do to you Mr.Ripper himself would be pretty familiar with the addicting qualities of that kind of power. We saw this slowly building up when Glorificus messed with Tara’s head and Willow used dark magic to attack/attempt an attack on her. Willow had always felt weak and overlooked until she started helping Buffy, this before the magic, with slaying. Once she was getting into magic and able to do even more to help like restoring Angel’s soul which for a newbie witch alone to do should have been next to impossible. We see her slowly becoming more powerful even in mundane ways at school. Willow liked having power and control, especially when something was out of her control (Tara Dying).

I knew early on in life, my grandmother wouldn’t be around until my 30s, and I would be lucky if she made it through my 20s. Well, a few months before my 25th birthday, she passed away. It’s not dramatic saying she was the first person I was aware that I was in love with. I loved her with every fiber of my being, I cared for her when I was unemployed, which never lasted too long. It was bittersweet being the one driving her around when she used to always (horrifically) drive me around.
I was having issues with my father, so information became limited. I got my pick of furniture and jewelry, and that was the last I heard for over a year. He didn’t even call me, he called my partner. We attended the funeral and nothing is the same anymore. It’s real, she’s gone.
Six months later, it’s my youngest’s first birthday. Certain smells or sounds that remind me of her have been setting me off like crazy. I look at my kids and I hate that they won’t ever remember her. I don’t care if I took after her best traits because I’m still not her.
I can’t hear her tell me she loves me, nor feel her hugs that neither of us wanted to separate from. I got her tattooed, because I couldn’t stand being two hours away from her for college. I was in ignorant bliss until getting the gut-wrenching truth. I thought I had grieved her, but it’s tearing me up more than ever.
She deserved more time. She deserved more love, even though she was surrounded by it. I am broken that she’s gone. Most days, I can power through. Not today, I’ve felt like there was a knife in my chest all day long. I miss you woman.
