2025.01.31 05:49 InsightsIE PSA: Neighbourhoods aka UserData cannot be shared in The Sims 1 as Save Files
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to write this in anticipation of The Sims 1 re-release tomorrow. The following is based on my assumption that a lot of the programming won't fundamentally change.
In The Sims 4, we all love a save file. While I know many would love to do the same in The Sims 1, due to the way neighbourhoods operate depending on the "language" The Sims 1 is installed in, neighbourhoods aren't actually compatible between different users.
For example: if you install The Sims 1 in German, and share your neighbourhood 2 aka UserData2, and someone with an English US (which is different than English UK and would cause the same result) install of The Sims 1, that user will get issues when trying to play it. Most notably, all the NPCs townies will have name "Randy"
The best thing to do is share individual families and the homes they live in. When you save and exit the game, in the UserDataX (X being the neighbourhood number) in the Export folder you will find the family name followed by the filename .FAM. You are free to share these with your friends. That person should put that in their UserData/Import folder. When they load into The Sims, they press the (+) import button, and they can import the family and the house they live in. When importing, they always just go into UserData. Not a UserData2/Import folder. That doesn't actually exist. JUST UserData. You can import them in any neighbourhood you want. A little confusing, but it all works.
The same is for community lots whether they are in Magic town, Hollywood, vacation world etc. A downtown community lot filename ends with .DTL - a vacation lot ends with .VIL and so on.

 | One of my childhood friends older brother was brutally murdered in 2019. Colorado swept this under the rug. I feel like they didn’t want this hitting mainstream news. The details of this case are extremely disturbing. I know everyone involved. Grew up with Joe and his little brother. This whole case makes me sick. And I wish the people responsible were put on blast. What they did is demonic. Me and joes little brother were in the house two days after the murder, amongst the people responsible. Interviewed by the CBI (Colorado bureau of investigation) to rule me and the little brother out as suspects. The shooter Blake told law enforcement after being caught that he planned to kill me and the little brother if we tried anything. At the time Joe was missing and we didn’t know what happen to him. This was not major news when it is one of the worse murders in Colorado history. Besides the mass shootings that have happen in Colorado. I hope Joe is resting in paradise.
