My health issue is assumed to be a genetic autoimmune condition (bloodwork is hyper-specific with autoimmune conditions, so they could only tell it wasn't something major like Lupus). The condition with my eyes is down as Chorioretinitis (right eye), Optic Disc Edema (right eye), and Retinal Vasculitis (both eyes). While, thankfully, my most troubling symptoms (like visual disturbances) went away with treatment, there's still something major troubling me. That would be my light sensitivity. It limits a lot of things for me, especially with everything going to LED or RGB or "everyone wants bright lights and/or a screen to show them everything".
I tried bringing up the lasting effect of light sensitivity, but my optometrist, going on maternity leave, gave me a basic "some people are just born more sensitive to light than others" and left it at that. This isn't the case with me, because I was the type of person that loved going to the light isle in Home Depot and would be fixated on bright visuals and loved going outside before my condition got intense in the past 3 years. I went from a person seeking out pretty bright visual stimulation to someone who can't handle being outside of a dim room without stinging irritation and/or getting ocular migraines constantly. I was hoping it would go away with my condition being in normal ranges and stabilizing (to the point I'm on a medication break currently, my last medication for it was mycophenolate), but it quite literally stayed the same compared to practically every other symptom that did stop or go away.
I miss being able to look at the range of light I used to, or even looking at something pretty without it stinging my eyes, but I'm not sure if this is a permanent "new normal" for me or if it could be relieved to where it's not a problem. I wouldn't know if I could manage this with my optometrist being unavailable currently. She wasn't my original provider, since my original one changed districts and couldn't see me anymore, so maybe she just isn't familiar enough with me to know it's a new and lasting symptom. Either way, she didn't give me advice on how to manage this symptom either.

I have 2 wired floodlight cameras and an outdoor4 camera purchased a year and a half ago. All have been working great. Randomly, without changing any settings, both floodlight cameras started recording motion detection every ~5 min, nonstop until I disable motion. I’ve done a hard reset, updated firmware, cleaned the sensors and camera lens. Sometimes they start right away after turning motion back on, sometimes they take a few hours to start the cycle. Normally use a setting of 8 for sensitivity. Reduced to 3 and it stops, however, then it doesn’t pick up actual motion. One is pointed front yard and the other is back yard. Outdoor4 also overlaps with front yard flood light and is acting completely normal.
Thoughts?

 | I recently updated to 2.10.38, simply because I got tired of it reminding me that I was using an older version (and besides, updates are good, right? ...right?). Well, now the color selection tool is broken. I can use the eye dropper to select a foreground or background color, but when I select a brush/pencil/bucket fill to use that color, it instead grabs a color off of the image on the first click and then uses that color. The official foreground and background colors remain as they were set. And yes, the tool is set to use the foreground or background color. I've now lost track of how many times I've reinstalled 2.10.38 to try and fix this issue. I even went into the user app data and deleted all of the GIMP files in case that was causing hang ups, but no. And I see today that there is a 2.10.38-1 and thought "ooo, maybe they fixed it!" but no, exact same problem. Unless someone has a fix for this, I'm ready to just go back to the previous stable version, but I don't remember what that was, and GIMP's download list doesn't really make it clear which versions are stable and which aren't. A Herndon man already charged with murder in connection with the killings of his wife and another man in their home is now facing new charges.
A grand jury indicted Brendan Banfield, 39, on one count of felony child abuse and neglect and one count of felony child cruelty for his actions on Feb. 24, 2023, Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano announced today (Monday).
According to Descano’s office, Banfield’s 4-year-old daughter was present when he allegedly stabbed his wife, Christine Banfield, 37, and shot 38-year-old Joseph Ryan, a stranger who prosecutors believe was lured to the Banfield home in the 13200 block of Stable Brook Way using a fetish website.
In court, prosecutors have made the case that Brendan Banfield concocted a scheme to kill his wife while having an affair with his family’s live-in au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhaes. He allegedly used a photo of his wife to set up a fake profile on the website FetLife, setting up a rendezvous with Ryan.
A Fairfax County police detective testified at a preliminary hearing in April that Brendan Banfield called 911 at 8:02 a.m. and told dispatchers he had shot Ryan after seeing him stab Christine Banfield multiple times.
However, prosecutors have alleged that Brendan Banfield waited for Ryan to arrive at the home, and then, he and Peres Magalhaes shot Ryan twice before they called 911.
Ryan was pronounced dead at the scene, and Christine Banfield died later at a hospital.
Peres Magalhaes was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in October 2023, but she pleaded guilty on Oct. 29 to manslaughter. She is expected to be sentenced to time served, and a charge of using a firearm in the commission of a felony for Ryan’s death will be dropped, provided that she cooperates in the case against Brendan Banfield.
Brendan Banfield was indicted on Sept. 16 on four counts of aggravated murder and one count of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Today is the first time that prosecutors have raised allegations against Banfield involving his daughter, though the commonwealth’s attorney’s office didn’t provide specific details about his actions in its press release.
“Additional information has come to light over the course of our investigation, and we believe these additional charges reflect the events that occurred in the house on that day,” Descano said. “My office is committed to bringing the strongest case possible against Brendan Banfield for the alleged murders of Christine Banfield and Joseph Ryan.”
In a statement of facts submitted to the court when Peres Magalhaes pleaded guilty, prosecutors said that Banfield had waited at a nearby McDonald’s for Ryan to arrive at the home. He then returned home, met Peres Magalhaes and his daughter, and entered his house with them through the basement.
The daughter was allegedly left in the basement, while Banfield and Peres Magalhaes went upstairs to the Banfields’ bedroom.
Banfield will face trial on Oct 20, 2025. Peres Magalhaes is currently scheduled for sentencing on March 21.
