The 90s was unquestionably a post-Cold War decade. While it obviously wasn't "world peace" considering events like the Gulf War & the Balkans were engulfed in conflict, the nuclear hysteria of mass destruction that lingered for decades had probably winded down and things started to feel calm or stable, at least certainly in the West.
When the Berlin Wall fell on Nov 9, 1989 and the USSR officially collapsed in 1991, it was basically a giant global shift into a new era. Civilization entered a unipolar world where America was the sole superpower and it remained that way throughout the 90s.
For people born after the early-80s, they would have grown up predominantly in the 90s and so on, they would little conception of a world before the end of the Cold War which had come to define much of the 2nd half of the 20th century.
I'm surprised this massive global event that shifted to a new era isn't as brought up as, say, 9/11 to determine Millennials. Not that I am downplaying 9/11 and its effect on America, & the world & being a key event that essentially marked the beginning of the "2000s" or 21st Century for some.
Perhaps such a proposal was discussed in the past, and I just didn't know, but I am curious to hear anyone's thoughts? Especially from users born in the 80s and 70s here.

Season 3 should have been Benedict's season, not Colin.
Here are just a few reasons why:
- Everyone loved Benedict in s2 since he was caring, rebellious but above all HILARIOUS. It would have been perfect to capitalize on that in S3.
- Colin was blah in S1 and S2 since his storyline was just about travelling and friendzoning Penelope. S3 should have developed his character a bit before making him the lead. The result of this is that most people prefer Daphne/Simon or Kate/Anthony as a couple over Colin/Pen since it was rushed and Colin was soo underdeveloped as a character.
- S2 ended with him leaving art school, signifying the start of a new chapter - it would have been perfect for S3 to explore who Benedict is deeper and do his love story too. Instead, he got his slut era is S3 which was a complete waste since S1 and 2 was his original slut era.
- Colin's only storyline in S2 was travelling and him trying to find his purpose - at the end of S2 he didnt...and S3 did not do a good job of exploring that at all since they rushed to cram his relationship with Penelope into 8 episodes.
- Penelope heard Colin insult her in front of his 'friends' in S2 - the fallout from that should have been S3. Her distancing herself from Colin as a friend, him missing her and confront her, and at the end of the season, her admitting why and not forgiving him when he apologized. S3 would also have been a great time for him to find out about Lady Whistledown and deal with that drama. Then, S4 could be about Colin finally realizing he sees Pen as more than a friend and he would spend the season winning her back.
- With all the sideplots in season 3, we barely got to see Benedict interact with his siblings, all we got was his unnecessary affair with that widow so once again, the show wasted his potential/popularity by giving him a random storyline to keep him busy all season.

These short-form content is a cancer to human brain.
I am not sure how it effects everyone's brain and how everyone cope with it but it burnt me out a lot. From last 6 months or so, i was constantly using shorts on youtube, insta, facebook but more on youtube. There is a plus point in youtube shorts. You can dislike something which doesn't suit your mood instead of having to watch. I even blocked some garbage channels whose stuff i hated. This can be subjective, i know. I blocked a lot of unwanted stuff and youtube algorithm follows you to show you the content you want to watch.
But what i didn't feel during this time was that it was spreading like a tumor inside me. My brain was getting fine-tuned for 30sec concentration episodes. After 30seconds i needed something new to be done. This effected my brain so much that i was hyper-active all the time, not getting good quality sleep because my mind was always awake (almost) and buzzing. I started feeling mood swings and irritation in my personality towards others.
Then just a few days ago, i turned off shorts from everywhere. Be it on phone or laptop. Initially i faced severe burn-down but now gradually getting over it. The condition doesn't go immediately but takes sometime to get out. It needs your patience. Since i blocked shorts, now i am not seeing them and this gives me more power for not clicking them delibrately.
I hope everyone out there be healthy and do something good in your life. This poison which spread like covid from tiktok to everywhere is effecting everyone out there of every age. Kids are using it everyday and their small innocent brains are getting bombed with this poison. Please be safe and protect your loved ones.

In the past, a tribe or town with no young people was doomed. This is why they had so many fertility goddesses, folk medicine and other methods to try to increase fertility.
A couple with no children was probably doomed to suffer little social support beyond just charity (specially for women), since children were expected to take care of them as the parents get old. Even having only one kid was a tragedy. The parents also felt they still had a purpose by caring for their grandkids while the parents worked. This system probably was around for 99% of humanity existing, even deep into agricultural and civilized life.
People in the past were very aware of how bad infertility was, and they would do anything from trying dangerous substances to marrying multiple wives, just to keep it going. The consequences of low fertility rates stayed in the tribe / town / family. There were no spare resources or incentive to care for bastards or orphans.
Fast forward, Modernity put a wall between society and natural reality. People don't need to know how to light fire or fish anymore to avoid starving, but food is still required, and we still rely on nature by proxy of institutions. Later, democracy and centralized states pooled resources, and technology made it easier to produce enough food, so we forgot the need for a working class. Even in recent decades we often dismiss blue collar workers and praise office jobs that, at the end, always rely on what those blue-collar workers do.
Our modern institutions still rely on a healthy population to keep the system, but now the tribe is the whole inter-connected civilization. We grew together thanks to globalism, and we will probably fall together at this rate. The solution? I don't think there is any, but maybe decoupling our families and communities from the falling ship may be the only way to save ourselves.
