Hey, everyone. I have been reading so many of your posts for the past few months. I am just becoming so anxious that I finally decided to reach out and see what you think.... as opposed to reading quazi-similar situations or asking the bing AI to give me the right answers- HA.
Anyways, like so many of you folks, I am totally anxious with my grad school applications!
I have only applied to three programs. They are all funded or at least connected to a GA position to pay for tuition + stipend. I say that because I am sure that shows the competitiveness aspect. One Masters is at Portland State University, the others at NYU: Steinhardt, and then a straight to PHD program at The Cuny Graduate Center.
So... what are my chances?
My info:
Consistent 4.0
Honors College (with attached thesis, upcoming)
Research Projects done through the honors college, have received grants to conduct and physically publish said research.
Multiple (10+) Campus Groups/Committees
4 years+ Advocacy/volunteer work
Non Traditional Student (32 y o), disenfranchised background.
(None of my schools required GRE, so I did not do it)
Do I have an advantage with my stats, or are they just like everyone else's?
I really just want y'all's honest opinion. Maybe some advice for the anxiety, as well. I know, realistically I have plenty to focus on given my Honors Thesis will be presented in May so I could just be putting my energy towards that. Alas, this is really important to me- it's going to be very life changing if I get into any of these programs. So, just want to open up the conversation, network and connect with you folks. I have enjoyed reading the posts and I am looking forward to hearing back.

I'm new to the series. Seen 6 or 7 episodes. I love it. But one thing I don't get - what are the incentives for the employees to get severed and work for Lumon? Is it for their outies to not feel like they have to spend time at work? Do they make a ton of money from working there? Or is it some kind of secret that will be revealed in time?
It's a show, obviously, so there has to be some limitations and foundations for the plot to work - but why couldn't Lumon just hire people as usual without severing them and have them do the mundane tasks? Would obviously make people way less eager to rebel. But there wouldn't be a tv show, so I get that. It just seems to rest on a lot of premises that don't make a whole lot of sense. Unless, of course, it'll be revealed in time.
Either way, it's a really good watch. 😊

Hi everyone,
I have a bad credit with maxed out credit cards and loc. I can't get approved in any bank or lenders now and I have to pay my rent. I am 1 day behind now and I don't know where to borrow money as I don't want to ask for help with my friends, families and coworkers.
Even though I have a lot of debt right now there's 2 bright spots on how I can get out of this situation but I just need to survive the next 2 months.
My job is a sales job and last year I earned 128k before taxes. I am waiting for my tax refund which would be around 15-25k as I have a lot of business expenses. The thing is, I am waiting to file my taxes which will be end of February. My wife is also starting a part time job which will be a big boost financially to pay our debts.
I had 2 slow months and a lot of bills recently which got me to where I am and a very bad financial decisions 1 after the other. Now, I just have to survive this month and the next so I can move on to the next phase which is earning more money and paying debts.
If you were in this situation, what would you do? I need to pay off my rent asap and money for groceries as well for my family.

2025.02.02 00:47 Spirited-Struggle155 ERide Pro S turns on but does not move when I twist the throttle.
I was riding today and hit a little jump I had jumped 100 times before. When I landed, the throttle quit working, but the bike was still on. Everything seemed normal with how I jumped, so I don't think I broke anything. I turned the bike on and off again, took out the battery, and put it back in, but it still wouldn't move when I twisted the throttle. Any ideas?

This is what the fireplace hearth looks like from the crawlspace. Was it constructed like this? I can see what looks like sagging but the rows above are straight. So either a repair or the new guy built this.
Also, does this like efflorescence? Is this normal for brick this age or is water getting deep inside? I know the chimney shows some signs of water seepage on the interior I hope the planned cap that overhangs a few inches on all sides takes care of that. Chimney sweep recommends that and vapor permeable chimney sealer. Not too sure I want to try that because there’s no going back.
