2025.02.02 03:01 Dangerous-Bit-8308 How can I COMPLETELY STOP wireless calling?
I'm pretty sure that my phone's Wifi Calling is screwing up my phone, and I can't figure out how to make it stop.
I've had several phones with cricket, and I've only had a few problems. I don't use a lot of apps, and right now, I'm using a Cricket Outlast. I'm using less than 1/3 of the phone's storage space. Cricket isn't the only network I've used, and I've never had this problem.
But my phone constantly starts messing up after between 15 minutes and 1 hour of use. Any length of time used after that, and suddenly the touch screen stops working. I can't play the one game I have on it. I can't use any social media. I can't get the keyboard to open no matter what I do. My phone stops allowing me to use the back button on the top left side of the screen or on the three button navigation bar at the bottom at all. I can't swipe up to save my life. I can't close any apps, and all I can do is get the phone to restart, which usually takes about five minutes of gesturing and tapping so forcefully that the colors on the entire screen change under the force of my finger.
This sort of problem has sometimes happened, to a limited degree, on phones with broken screens, but there is no crack at all on this screen, and I've had this phone for less than three months.
Half the time, when I am able to finally restart the phone, it requires me to go into safe mode. I've cleared the caches and data on all my apps. Literally all of them. Even the . I've deleted everything I don't need. I've disabled all sorts of apps... and it keeps happening.
Now to be clear: I've never in my life needed or used Wifi Calling. Frequently, I just uninstall or disable wifi calling, which is what I've done on all the other phones I've used with cricket, but I cannot do that with this phone. This phone worked OK for the first month I had it, except it was annoying that every time I turned it on, it asked me to submit an address for wifi calling. I'd turn wifi calling off, and just use it the rest of the day with no problem. but every time I restarted the phone, wifi calling would turn back on, and I'd have to turn it off again.
Finally, I gave wifi calling an address. Then I was able to turn it off for a while. but every once in a while, the touchscreen would start giving me troubles, and I'd have to restart.
Now here's the thing: When I restart, I get the wifi calling notification, so It turns itself on when I restart, and I have to turn it off again then. But also: When I have to restart in safe mode, there's another app opened that I didn't open. it's just a black, non-functional screen, but if I can get it to show all my recent apps, this one has the Wifi calling logo on it. I have to manually swipe up to close it before I can get out of airplane mode or restart the phone to get out of safe mode. It claims to not have a specific Wifi Calling App either, so I cannot uninstall or disable this thing without bricking the phone..

My most recent Smiley read has been one of the best! Not so much because of the Smiley bits, though they are pretty solid. But the quality of Le Carre's prose in the novel is really something else! The super-smart spy stuff is always fun to read, but I believe the tragic and bumbling aspect of the spylife brings out the best in the author. The Honourable Schoolboy and The Looking Glass War are my favourites so far, probably because they lean into that element so heavily.
I'm halfway through the two-part Le Carre Cast on the novel, and am truly enjoying the podcast as my 'reward' for finishing the novel. Another great guest interview, this time with author Jeremy Duns. It's so good that I'm saving the second half for tomorrow so I can really savour it on my last day off before another week of work.
I understand that Le Carre himself didn't always have much pride in this particular novel, but I am curious what others think. Certainly better than A Call for the Dead and A Murder of Quality, right?

I'm not without sleep, nor having any form of episode. Though it is a dagger to the heart that any emotion sensed that is the reaction to it. But your theatrics are outdated and not really needed when at any moment you could be direct. I accept my part in the hard times but you still have no idea. This is my fault entirely because I cared far more about you than myself in some ways. I have learned to value myself and have been minding my own because my friend is no longer with us. You know, the entire time I don't think you ever even tried to look at things from my perspective or listen to me in a way you knew who I was. You actively put others above me and I want you to have friends but that left me with a hundred stings each time something arose. You put so many expectations on me I was so overwhelmed..literally all the time. I have so many things I have to do daily because I have people to take care of that are counting on me.
That's when the little jabs began about my personality. Too loud, too aggressive, too needy, too soft. Too vulnerable. Too cold. Too slutty. Such a prude. So stuck up. Omg obsessed with herself. Cruel. A bully. Playing a victim all the time. Such a villain. A monster. So weird. Not funny. Too cuddly. Too childish. Annoying. Nagging.
Those are just a very few of your sweetest whispers. I bent and contorted. All I wanted was you to be happy..and to be truthful I just wanted to be enough to someone I care about. But each one of those were hot embers artfully twisting those words on my skin. Not saying where we are is your fault. I walk away quickly because it is what you asked of me. Then you come somewhere you know I am semi-frequently on to dangle bait out. You want me to reach out because supposedly I did nothing to show you I cared.
I know I hurt you with my mistakes and letting my words lash out as weapons. I am so sorry for all that I put you and others through when I hit rock bottom. But you will not say I did nothing. I worked so hard dancing on those egg shells perfectly to the version of me that would supposedly make you happy. Then the criticism on my masks? You literally gave me so many when I was not meeting expectations.
Why can't I be me? Every chip at my body locked more and more of me away. I am sorry but I needed to find myself again. You want access to me yet again but there is no safety for me with you. I'm sorry if that seems harsh but I am not a princess who gets saved. I used to love that trope as a little girl. Nearly thought we had that sort of vibe in our own way but I cannot trust you with me. You do not understand me in the ways I need to be understood for me to blossom. This is what shatters me. We had so many good times that bounce around my head from time to time but that whole time I was just an oddity. I can feel you tugging but I have no clear line open for communication on your end while you insist it's me. I've been transparent this entire time but you, my love, have been far different. Though this is one of those things not allowed to speak on because it's fighting. I told you in the beginning there was no ill will so why is secrecy only ok on your side? Why are the rules different when we were supposed to be a team.
I know I can be many things and far too much for the wrong people but I am a human being with feelings even if I do not always show them. I am not dancing to anyone's tune any longer. It is time to rest and enjoy what good I have in my life.

If somone owned a home and also owned an air bnb property (completely separate properties) is there a power company that is better to use for both properties to get a some form of benefit then the rest or is it all the same who ever you go with?
If one of the homes had solar would it be possible to use the excess power at the second property? I'm sure I've read about a smaller solar power provider who does this for their clients. (The benefit of this would be exported power wouldn't result in an 8-12c credit, it would be used to supplement the other properties 30c + power usage.

2025.02.02 03:01 banned-practice Help, is my spider gone or is there hope?
This my spider, Spood. He/she is the first jumping spider I've ever kept. I found it in my house this autumn as it tried to find water in my bathroom. Because we currently had an infestation of fruit flies, and it was already too cold to put it out, I figured it could help us and get some noms while it was at it. I don't know the exact date I caught it, but it was early-mid November.
I've been taking care of it since, and even caught and started raising the flies in captivity to keep the spider fed (ironic, as the point had been to eliminate them), and later caring for a second spider I found too. They've been eating mostly fruit flies with a few random other bugs and the occasional mealworm, and I've offered them water in their little jars every few days, and things have been fine since.
Both were super underweight when caught and have eaten a lot. Both went through a shed, Spood almost immediately after being caught, the other spider shed just last week. I thought Spood was going to shed again, because it made a fancy silk nest and was just staying in it for a week or more. Not coming out for food or water. The past two days it started coming out and was interested in hunting and water again, but would go back in. Last night it didn't go back, but was pouncing and hunting, though kind of lazily and I don't think it ate the second bug, but it was active and jumping from silk lines and moving around last time I saw it.
But this evening when I checked it, it seems Spood is suddenly dead.... I'm trying to figure if it really is. I have this hope it might be having trouble shedding and might get through. I put it on a warm damp bit of paper towel in it's jar. There's not much more I know to do, and I swear I saw a leg twitch, but I don't know.
Is Spood dead? Is there any hope or action I can take? Why might it have suddenly died?
Also, never figured out the species or if it was male or female, anyone know? I don't even know it's age or how many sheds it has had, since it was wild.
