Got inspired by this post because my story is very similar, at least up until college (since Iām still in college). Iāve had many opportunities to be in a relationship, but I never did because my mental health has always been really bad. Coming from a broken and dysfunctional household, Iāve always held myself back because of it
I know everyone has problems, some worse than mine, but I still feel like people stay away from me because of it. And honestly, I get it. I can never introduce my partner to my parents. The only family member Iād ever want my girlfriend to meet is my kid sister, sheās 10 years younger than me, and Iāve raised her like my own daughter. But Iāve noticed that some women judge me for having a kid sister, and I donāt know why
One of the biggest things Iād look for in a relationship is stability. You know how relationships are these days, I donāt want my sister to see me changing girlfriends every few months. I want to set an example of what a healthy relationship looks like because my parents failed miserably at that. Stability is important to me. As she grows up, I want her to carry as little trauma or emotional baggage as possible
I know I canāt play god and protect her from everything, and I think thatās a good thing. I want to protect her, but not shelter her. Sheāll have to face her own struggles and become her own person. But one thing she will always know is that I am by her side, always
With this year ending, I have had some important realizations, that this is my weight to carry and not something I should depend on someone else to fix for me. I am not asking women to be my trauma fix/dump station or anything. I have worked a lot on myself so that the other person is not burdened because I know it takes a toll on your partner too. But still, there are some traces that I am hell-bent on fixing because this is my life, and I want to make the most out of it
I might have deviated a bit so I'll add a tldr and for the question it's the title
TL;DR: I come from a dysfunctional family and have avoided relationships due to my mental health. Stability matters to me, especially for my younger sister, whom Iāve raised. Iāve worked on myself and donāt expect a partner to fix me, but I wonder would my background make me less dateable?

Heyo everyone :) my name is William. I'm 19 years old, I'm from Sweden, and I'm in need of some new company!
I would say that overall, I'm a very caring person. Your comfort will always be my top priority, and I will never do anything that would put pressure on you, or make you feel uncomfortable or unsafe. It's important to me not only that you're comfortable around me, but that you tell me if something's making you uncomfortable. I'm an open book, I don't judge, and I look out for ya. :) I also don't let things get to me easily, and am overall a very accepting, calm, laid back person. You shouldn't feel judged by me at any point!
Some things about me: I've been playing the bass for over four years now, and I mainly play and listen to rock and metal music. My absolute favorite band is Iron Maiden, but some other favorites are Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Children of Bodom, just to name a few :)
Other than music I also love video games! I've grown to like a lot of role-playing games, but I'd say my taste is pretty varied. Among my favorites are Terraria, Morrowind, Oblivion, Disco Elysium, Fallout 1 & 2, the Ratchet & Clank games, BioShock 1 & 2, and System Shock 1 & 2. There's probably one or two I'm forgetting about here.
Other than all that, I also have autism. I was always the "weird" kid growing up, the social outcast who always seemed to say the wrong thing or weird people out. I always knew something was wrong with me, but it wasn't until I got my diagnosis in 4th or 5th grade that I finally got closure. I can't exactly say how it affects me from the inside looking out, but I do know it affects everything from the things I say, how I say them, my thoughts, social interactions & social cues, things like that. (also to prove you read the whole post, tell me your favorite fruit when you dm me.) I'm an introverted person due to my anxiety around social interactions, so that's why I'm posting for friends online lmao :) How my autism affects me is something you'll find out more as you get to know me for longer.
And just so you have an image in your head, I look kinda similar to my Snoovatar (that is the Reddit avatar). Long brown hair, brown eyes, that sort of thing. If you're really curious as to what I look like, you can just ask me to send you photos.
