Suppose the government of country A imposes tariffs on imports from another country B. I often hear the argument that this would only mean higher prices for people in country A since the importing company would pass on the cost to the customers. So, it doesn’t fully serve the purpose of negatively impacting country B.
However, if this is the case, why does the country B impose retaliatory tariffs on A? What is that B is losing out on and is it significant enough for them to retaliate and if they do, won’t that just mean higher prices for customers in country B as well?

I need some advice here. I joined a company in July 2024 as a Frontend Developer Intern for 7K INmonth. After a month, I started working on backend too, so I was basically doing fullstack work. But my pay was still 7K/month until December.
From January 2025, they made me full-time, and my salary was increased to 15K INmonth. My tech stack:
- Frontend: Next.js, Svelte
- Backend: AdonisJS, Firebase, PostgreSQL

2025.02.02 04:40 trash-but-cute Been planning for awhile, now the anger is gone
I've been planning on breaking up with my s/o for the last month and a half, and planned the date I want to break up with them specifically a month ago in order to avoid particular days or event that may make things even harder than they are
In all this time, I've been frustrated, angry, and actively unhappy. I found the pattern, and realized that it's not going to end. I identified all the ways their actions affect my life and those around them. I know all the reasons why I'm doing this inside and out. I've never questioned wether or not this was the right decision. Especially since I've known for years now that some of these things could pop up or become worse.
But it's been so long, I'm not angry anymore, I don't feel like it's fair to blame them even if it's true we aren't compatible. I still love them and care about them and it's tearing my heart out to think of losing them. I know what needs done I KNOW why. But I don't WANT to. Every time I think about this it hurts so fucking much. I keep wanting to prolong the break up, to keep going, but just playing video games together made me cry, I can't imagine what valentines will do.
I'll be breaking up with them on Feb. 8th, this next week is gonna be hell. I don't know how I'm gonna get through this.
Tldr; I've been planning this for so long I'm not angry anymore. I'm a week away from the breakup and I'm caught between bargaining and depression.

I have familia MD f 40. I’ve had a pulsing pain off and on over a couple days in my left temple. Yesterday suddenly it felt like I had cut my left eye or there was a chemical in it burning it. It was very weepy, swollen red and hard to open sensitive to lights Went to the hospital Dr numbed the eye and did a series of test. He couldn’t find a scratch and the pressure was fine. After consulting a couple other doctors they put it down to extreme case of conjunctivitis (I have no pus coming from the eye). I have antibiotics and strong pain relief. Today vision is worse (already pretty bad given MD). Has anyone experienced anything like this?
