So I had a question come up in the exam the other day which is as follows: def f(x): x[:] = x[::-1] def g(x): x = x[::-1] var1 = [1,2,3] var2 = [1,2,3] f(var1) g(var2) print var1 , var2 The correct output is given as [3,2,1], [1,2,3] I know that g(var2) doesn't reverse the list because of aliasing. But why does f(var1) work? Shouldn't it also fail since slicing creates a new object instead of aliasing. Therefore, when we say x[:] = x[::-1] the value which x points at shouldn't change. What is the difference between asigning a value to x and x[:]

2024.11.24 22:30 MohawkMer PC Not recognizing Ethernet

I'm aware that there is a similar previous post from 6yrs ago, however stick with me on this one.
My boyfriend has had this weird reoccurring issue where anytime the pc's ethernet cable gets unplugged it stops recognizing the ethernet altogether. For example, I used his dedicated line earlier today (like 4 pm) to update a game without bogging everyone else down. However when I re-plugged his ethernet into his pc at 4:30, despite the connection being fine on my pc, his pc refuses to even recognize that the ethernet cable has internet.
It does this every time and it seems like after a couple hours it'll just randomly re-connect to the ethernet. There's really no set time frame either, sometimes it takes 2 hours to re4gister and others it'll take a full 24hrs.
I've tried unplugging the PSU and running out the "flea power" while the ethernet was plugged in- no luck. We've tried disabling his wifi card and re-enabling it- no luck.. I'm stumped on what else could cause this (all his drivers are up to date so that's not an issue)
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

2024.11.24 22:30 KillaRizzay Help! Stripped gears??

Help! Stripped gears?? Prints the purge line fine every time, and then starts skipping (making that clicking noise) and I get what looks like scratches in my bed but is actually a super thin layer of plastic. If I manually extrude 50mm 4 times in a row, it runs fine till the last 0.05 seconds as it slows down it clicks/skips 4 times in a row. Seems to only skip at the slower extrusion speeds. I didn't change any of my settings from my previous prints. My last print was a 13 hour print (my longest single print to date) .. Could that have worn out/stripped the gears? I've dissassembled the extruder gears twice and reassembled them twice to no avail. I've tried with 2 rolls of jayo pla plus which I've had no issues with previously (my 13 hour print was also jayo). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Happy to provide any requested details if it helps

I'm trying to move all my files off of a RPi "server" where several sharepoints are shared over NFS to machines on my LAN, and they Just Show Up® in my media player and on any other device that connects to the server looking for NFS. When I configure TrueNAS (latest electric eel) to serve the same named folders via NFS, the server shows up, and on MacOS I can "expand the server" and see the folders, but on all other OSes only an empty NFS server shows up. And, alas, there's no way to type in the full mount point names on these devices.
I have tried configuring these sharepoints/folders as RO, RW, and even mucked around with changing the ACL types from default to POSIX to NFS4 (on a test folder) with no change to the behavior.
I tried running nfsstat -s {server} from a Mac terminal shell but get the exact same results for both servers.
I looked in /etc/exports and see some differences, but I don't know how to effect changes to this file on a TrueNAS where everything is supposed to be administered via the web interface. (right?)
TrueNAS / etc/exports

i struggled with anorexia in high school, and worked through a lot of my trauma to a point where i could call myself healed. i am now 19, and a sophomore in college. i have been having severe hormonal issues due to PCOS that have caused my weight to spike severely (an increase of 1/3 of my original weight). my doctors have not helped me with my hormones, instead putting me on semaglutide injections weekly. i didn’t mention my history of ED because if im honest, it is triggering me heavily and i just wanted to go back to my normal size. i have been taking it for 8 weeks, and at the beginning i was taking care of myself and managing my triggers pretty well, but now i am working out every single day and spend most days by drinking low calorie sodas as my only food or occasionally a high protein low fat sandwich. this has been happening for the last 2 weeks. my weight is virtually the same from when i started, which is also triggering me, because then i feel the need to do more and more severe things to try and lose weight. the main problem is that i recognize how bad its getting, but that doesn’t make me want to stop. if anything, im getting more and more emboldened to do this because my weight hasn’t changed. i’ve also had severe breakouts because of my PCOS flare up and that has also made me extremely hateful to myself. i genuinely hate myself so much right now and i hate myself the most because i am doing every goddamn ED trick in the book and still can’t lose weight so what the fuck is wrong with me? am i doomed to hate myself forever ? is this the body im stuck with ? idk. also, my mom is my best friend and i love her, but she also has a history of disordered eating and i feel like i can’t talk about any of this with her because while she wouldn’t condone any of the crazy stuff, she does the normal ED stuff on the daily. the weight gain has caused stretch marks on my stomach that have only fueled me to be worse to myself. i am chronically ill with a lot of conditions and i know that doing this is killing me, i can feel it, but living in this body i hate is worse than any weakness i am feeling. i want to be better. i want to love myself. why can’t i just love myself. i don’t care what size anyone else in my life is. so why do i care about mine so much.
