2024.11.24 23:07 Cutewitch_ Been stuck in place since 2020, and unable to make clear choices about home and children.
 | I have a five year old daughter. Right before the pandemic, we thought we would leave the major city we live in and move to a smaller community to buy a house. The pandemic messed that up: my husband lost his job and daycare was so expensive we ended up staying in or one bedroom apartment to save money and haven’t left. Years later, we haven’t found “the right” house in another city and the longer we stay, the more attached to our current community we become. So we know we need change now: a bigger apartment or really commit to moving and owning (I feel a bit like a failure at 36). The pandemic also caused us to put off having another child. While deep down I want one and always thought I’d have two, I’m afraid of the cost. Housing, daycare, camps etc. I don’t know how to do it. Both issues are tied to financial anxiety and a fear of change. I’m curious what my chart says about home, children and finances. For about 36 hours, I’ve noticed mild numbness and tingling in the lower half of my body. My feet feel tingly, like they’re waking up from being asleep. My buttocks and groin feels numb- not significantly, but I can tell when I wipe after using the bathroom that the sensation is reduced. Same in my thighs and somewhat in my lower legs which was most noticeable when I was drying off after showering. Numbness is most concentrated in the red area. Tingling in the orange. The tingling isn’t constant but moreso when I walk.
I have no pain beyond my usual back soreness- primarily mid to lower back. Full range of motion, 5/5 sensation and strength, no unusual pain with activity like kicking a soccer ball. It has not gotten better or worse with stretches, rest, or activity. I don’t have a primary doctor but will try to find one this week.
Other information:
No current medical conditions or medications. Ibuprofen seems to have helped the tingling slightly.
I have a history of low-level back pain with some arthritic changes noted in my lumbar spine 3 years ago with not current treatment plan. I was cleared by orthopedics at the time and haven’t followed up since then.

Jeg bevæger mig ofte i en mørk afkrog af min psyke. Jeg ved ikke, om det ér mørkt, eller om jeg bilder mig selv det ind. Min virkelighedsopfattelse er ikke altid intakt. Når jeg er lykkelig, kan jeg ikke forestille mig at være ulykkelig. Når jeg er ulykkelig, kan jeg ikke forestille mig at være lykkelig.
Og jeg kan ramme (u)lykken flere gange i løbet af et døgn, end det kan tælles på to hænder. Det er sikkert som amen i kirken, at jeg rammer mit lowest low, når jeg har haft mit highest high. Jeg kan ramme mit lavest punkt ud fra alle humør- og sindstilstande i løbet af få minutter. At nå mit højeste, lykkeligste “jeg kan hoppe ned i en vulkan i udbrud og overleve, fordi jeg er Superman”-punkt, kan ligeså komme i løbet af få minutter, ud af ingenting.
På mit laveste punkt bliver jeg bange. Jeg har tidligere selvskadet - skåret i arme - men det er ca 7 år siden sidst. Efter 7 år som selvskadende, har jeg snart 7 år fri fra udførslen af mit helved. Men at jeg ikke udfører handlingen af mine tanker, betyder ikke, at de er væk.
Jeg har haft et par eller tre “elendige” selvmordsforsøg op gennem mine teenageår og start 20’erne. Jeg har aldrig delt det med nogen foruden psykologer og socialarbejdere.
Her til aften ramte jeg mit laveste. Derfor det her opslag. Jeg vrider mig, jeg hulker, jeg pruster, jeg lider oprigtigt, når det løber allerhurtigst i mit hoved. Min mimik, kropskontrol, vejrtrækning går i sort, som om alt i min hjerne lukker ned, med undtagelse af tankerne om, at jeg kan og bør skade mig selv for at slutte min mangel af kontrol. Selvskade gav mig kontrol den gang, og en del af min sind tror oprigtigt stadig på, at det er en perfekte løsning til at genvinde mig selv.
Jeg er diagnosticeret med borderline. Udadtil er jeg velfungerende. Ikke én i min omgangskreds ville tro mig, hvis jeg fortalte dem, hvad jeg skriver her, for når shit går ned, gemmer jeg mig og vender tilbage med den gængse “jeg havde bare brug for at nyde roen alene” = “jeg er så fucked, at jeg ikke kan sammensætte et ord, hvis ordet ikke er selvskade”.
Til min borderline skrev jeg i dag: “Jeg ved ikke, om det er dig, borderline, eller om det virkelig ér mig, men hvis det er dig: Så fuck dig. Du hader mig, og jeg hader dig. Men vi er én”.
Jeg betragter min borderline som et ekstra menneske, der bor til leje indeni den rigtige mig. Som oftest er lejeren stille, og vi har et almindeligt, kontrolleret og velfungerende liv sammen.
Men hvad gør jeg, når lejeren legit forsøger at gøre en ende på mig?
Jeg undskylder, hvis det her er helt fucked. Jeg var til lægen for ikke mange uger siden, men min genhenvisning til regions psykiatrien blev afvist pga udtømte behandlingsmuligheder.
Jeg havde brug for at lette mine tanker i et rum, hvor ingen aner, hvem jeg er. Tak Reddit. Og jeg lover til enhver anonym derude, at jeg ikke skader mig selv, andet end den tortur det er mentalt, når jeg er på mit lavpunkt.
