2024.11.25 00:40 GiblyNow Can't decide if I should go no contact with parents because only one of them is the problem
I don't get along with my mom, and by that I mean I have come to a point where I have 0 respect left for her and all of our interactions end up in screaming matches. I won't go into detail about everything she's done to me but she's one of my main sources of most of my trauma.
Now, if it was just about her, I'd have no problem with just disappearing without a single explanation. But there's my dad.
Not to say that two of us have that close father & daughter relationship because we don't, but what I have with him is probably the closest I'll ever get to a normal parental bond in this life. He spent his whole life and still is to sustain our family, to keep us fed and give us most of the stuff we might wish to have. Hence why he never had much time to spend with me or my siblings. But every moment he did he tried his best, even though I can probably name all of them and I'm already 22 years old. I have great respect for him and since moving for college he made sure to keep contact. My mother is trying to do the same but unlike with her my father's intentions are genuine and out of love, while her's feel so empty and hollow and just for the sake of appearance of a good mother which she cares about a lot.
Every time there's any type of contact between me and her, I can feel myself mentally declining. But because unlike my relationship with her, the marriage between my parents is perfectly fine so there is no chance in them ever divorcing, meaning if I'm going to keep contact with my father, contact with her is unavoidable.
Now at first, to an outsider the most obvious solution would be to keep in contact with my father and just try and avoid my mother as much as possible, so I don't completely lose that parental bond throughout my life. But the effects those small contacts leave on me or literal panic attacts, physical and psychological decline, depressive episodes, etc. It might sound like I'm exaggerating since I never went into detail as to what this woman did to me, but it's just that bad.
I think those who went no contact with their parents understand why I'm hesitant in choosing that route since I still have a good relationship with one of them. But the problem is that I can't have one without the other.
What are your thoughts on what I should do and have any of you guys had the same problem?

I want whole house music! After finally figuring out how to get my receiver to actually work with a zone 2 setup I want to make it easier to use. I ran speaker wire under the house to zone 2 and connected it to my speakers. To do so I had to disconnect them from another, older receiver. So to use it now I have to switch cables back and forth depending on what I want to do. Is there a switching box that can be used to run two sets of wires in and then turn a knob or flip a switch and change between the two? If there isn't....are you ready?...can I turn the speaker over so that I can more easily reach the speaker wire ports? Old lady here....hard to get down to floor level.

Hi reddit, I need some help deciding on my next character for a longterm campaign.
I know I want to play a Rogue 17/Battlemaster 3. But I can't decide on which rogue subclass.
The mission statement for the build is to use the quick toss Maneuver with a vex weapon (dart probably, or my dm said the soulknife blade would be fine) and the lucky origin feat to get a good chunk of guaranteed rounds of double sneak attack. (bonus action: Quick Toss, action: hold attack until next turn in the turn order) I also want to incorporate the 3 maneuvers that let you add to skill rolls: Ambush (Stealth, initiative), Commanding Presence (Performance, Persuasion, Intimidation), Tactical Assessment (Investigation, History, Insight)
Taking the Superior Technique fighting style from tashas allows us to get 4 Maneuvers total by fighter 3.
Overall you do pretty good damage when you need to, but are also insane at those skill checks. (Proficiency + superiority die + tactical mind)
Here's where the tough decision comes in.
Do I go soulknife to get the ability to add extra dice to those skill checks, (Psi die) making it practically impossible to fail a skill check. As well as all the other cool features this subclass gets? (Dubbed the Overskill option)
Or do I go Assassin, and take the alert origin feat to practically guarentee going first (advantage from assassin, proficiency from alert, and superiority die from ambush) so that we will have reliable advantage on the first turn, and the sweet surprising strikes damage, which could trigger twice round 1. This build could also try to shoehorn in true strike, which could be a boon to damage and some of our skills as we'd raise a mental stat. (Dubbed the Quick Draw option)
I want to take elven accuracy on this build, which limits me to one origin feat, I could be talked into going human though, because lucky + alert(quick draw), or lucky + skilled (overskill) both sound very appealing. Thanks for your help!

I’ve been trying to research all that I can but am getting very confused by different sources saying different things. I’ve started a small collection of new vinyls (mostly hip hop) with the intention of getting a TT setup when I move into my own place. But with all these sales around the holiday season I figured I could start now… just can’t figure out where. My budget is around 500-700$ CAD (350-500$ USD) per item, but for better quality I would be willing to pay more. I’m starting with nothing but am in no rush to have all aspects of the setup. I would like my equipment to last a decent while before needing upgrades, repairs, or major adjustments (other than stylus/cartridge etc) and something that won’t damage my records.
I was looking into the audio technica AT-LPW40WN fully manual belt drive or AT-LP140XP-BK direct drive. I have since learned that auto-return exists and feel that is a much better fit for me as I’m prone to distractions.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality setup/what equipment do I actually need? I feel like every time I try to understand this stuff I fall into a rabbit hole of confusion. Has anyone created a website yet that lays this stuff out a lot easier for beginners to understand?
