The Criterion Collection upgrades their previous Blu-ray edition of Rob Reiner’s The Princess Bride to 4K UHD, presenting it in its original aspect ratio of 1.85:1 on a dual-layer, BD-66 disc. The 2160p/24hz ultra high-definition encode is presented in Dolby Vision, sourced from the same 4K restoration used for Criterion’s Blu-ray edition. Criterion does go the extra bit with their supplements, delivering a solid special edition. They first provide a new audio commentary with scholar Stephen Prince, who has provided commentaries for a number of Criterion’s Kurosawa releases. It’s a solid track, Prince talking about the film’s development and release, focusing on some of the ... Originally from Canton. I remember as a kid we went to a family friend’s house, he had a pool table. Homeowner asks my dad if he wanted to play, dad said “no thanks, I only play for money”. I had never seen him play pool or heard him talk about pool. Except maybe watching Willie Moscone and Minnesota Fats on tv. On the way home I asked him about playing for money and he said he shot pool for the Pucci gang (?). Anyone know anyone who would know what that entailed exactly? I asked mom about it recently, she didn’t know anything about it but said when they really needed money he’d leave for a couple hours and come back with cash.

2024.11.25 02:40 h0minin Leaky hose shutoff valve with no packing nut

I just closed the shutoff valve to the hose for the winter, and it started leaking a drop every ~2 seconds. I opened it back up and now it’s slowed down to a drop or two a minute, but it wasn’t dripping at all before I closed it. If it had a packing nut I’d try tightening it, but since it doesn’t- is there anything I can do? I don’t have much plumbing experience but I am handy and up to work on it.
