As mentioned in the title, this post will be talking about the results that was just released. If you dont take the mod or component called solidworks and did not take it this sem (aka the test on 15 nov, pls refrain from commenting unless you can provide solid advice or comfort, im sorry for being rude but im rly depressed rn)
So i just received my marks for the 15 nov solidworks and sketching test. Lets just put it as i failed the 25%. To say the exact score is against my will and i dont feel comfortable saying how i fare :<.
I wanna know how does failing a 25% component gonna affect my overall grade. I know my A/A+ is gone alr and no way im score a A-, so i was kinda hoping for a b+, lowest pray its B. But that was my perspective before the marks were out. Now that it has come to this idek if i can even get B-.. and its part of my core degree so SU might not be possible
Any one has any advice over this matter would be appreciated :(

I bought a PSVR 1 for my PS4 many years ago. I kind of just endured it because I wanted to experience VR but in all seriousness it was actually not that great, outside of RE7 and a select few titles it felt like I was looking through a window rather than playing VR, the latter of which I felt when I tried the HTC VIVE.
Maybe I'm just scarred from that bad experience, but how much better is the PSVR 2 over the 1 in terms of hardware? I've read the spec sheet but I'd like to hear people's actual experiences with it.

I’m a type 1 diabetic, my school is aware of this and I basically have permission to go to the washroom whenever I have to. My advanced functions teacher refuses to ever let me go, even when urgent… when I reminded her of my literal illness she just said something along the lines of “okay go but you won’t be able to write your test, once I distribute it you can’t write it”. I didn’t think she was serious about not letting me write it if I used the washroom, so I went and she gave me a 0 on the test. (It was worth a lot. This made my mark drop from a 98% to a 89%. I know it doesn’t sound severe but I just want my evaluation to be accurate on my actual work… should I talk to her again? Or just let it go and accept the 0s when I have to.

Anyone else match with players on Slippi Ranked that have the absolute worst internet connections?
I played against an Almighty red Marth twice tonight who beat me both times with a connection that made the game feel like we were playing at 5 frames per minute, like someone was presenting a Microsoft Power Point slideshow.
The interesting part is I played at least 10 other matches in that same sitting and all of the other people's connections were crystal clear. I don't want to sound like I've got a tinfoil hat on but I have to say it's a bit suspicious only certain people seem to have this mystical good luck where the connection of the match happens to play out in their favor.
Does anyone have any advice for how to deal with this sort of thing on Slippi Ranked?
I wanted to try playing out the matches, but honestly it feels better to just blacklist those specific player tags and immediately quit out of the match if you match with them. As much as I hate to give them a free win from disconnecting, at least it's better than giving them the satisfaction of knowing whatever latency manipulation scheme they're doing is working and making legitimate players salty enough to not want to play and create online posts about them.

2024.11.25 02:50 O1O1O1O Was F1 really a big economic boost?

If you Google the economic impact of F1 on the Vegas economy you'll quickly come across articles like this NYT one https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5938951/2024/11/22/f1-vegas-local-business-lawsuit-disruption/ which cites a Nelson-Kraft study claiming the 2023 F1 had a $1.5B impact on the Las Vegas economy.
That immediately just felt really high. For instance that's more than the entire Vegas casino gaming revenue and when you look up figures for 2023 you'll see articles saying it was up 17% year over year that November. 17% not 100%. Sure there's lots of other sources of revenue like hotels, restaurants, and other services while people are here.
I went looking for numbers that would give an actual number and that seems to be Clark County tax revenue. The November 2023 numbers https://tax.nv.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Taxation-Revenue-Statistics-2023.pdf say we had $5.51B in taxable sales cf. to $5.45B the month before. Compare that to 2022 https://tax.nv.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Taxation-Revenue-Statistics-2023.pdf when taxable revenue in November was $5.23B and October was $5.36B.
So year over year November 2023 was up 5.4% and October was up 1.7%. If you look at December numbers 2023 was up about 1% so while it does look like November that year was up 3 or 4% more than the annual trend that's way short of $1.5B.
Even if we attributed the entrie year over year increase to F1 was it really worth $230M to us or maybe $23M in additional taxes? Even if you claimed the impact was double that due to untaxed black market economy you're still not close. I guess we could go further and look at others tax revenue sources - please let me know where I can find that if you know.
All this is before we try to compute the negative impact on tourists and their desire to come back, or the countless hours wasted by locals sitting in traffic during all the construction before and after. How do you even put a $ figure on that?
I for one am just not sold that F1 is good business for Vegas as a whole. It's a classic example of seizing a public good and extracting revenue from it for a small group and claiming some variant of "trickle down" will be good for us all. Unless I'm mistaken the numbers just don't seem to as up. I'll definitely be looking at the numbers for 2024 to see what happened this year.
