Hey all! So I got myself into a bit of a situation wherein I applied to dais for a MUN conference and actually ended up getting the vice chair position, somehow, when I have absolutely no MUN experience. I've done debate clubs/teams and public speaking and put that on my resume, and I guess that experience was enough to get the position, but now I'm clueless as to what to do! It seems they're just assuming I know what I'm doing because I was accepted into the role in Sept, it's now Nov, and the conference is in Dec, and we haven't had a single meeting to explain how it's going to work. SOOOO any advice would be greatly appreciated! Tips, tricks, youtube channels, advice on how to look like I know what I'm doing, anything at all! I know this sub can help me look legit before the conf happens 🥲

I always wanted to have a 5.1, but my living room is small (wall to wall is 3.4m). Currently I have a pair of KEF Q350, connected to tv optical via Topping mx3s. My plan is to upgrade to a avr and add a center to having a 3.0 set up.
But 2 days ago, I tried to watch Arcane S02 with my Airpod Pro 2, and it surprisingly good. Well not really surround sound but it good, and im really enjoyed the last 3 episodes. I watched the first 6 episodes with my 2.0 setup and didn't feel enjoy that much tbh (if it just music, Q350 definitely better). Am I doing it wrong?
So you experts out there how much better if I throw in a Center and AVR? where I am, i think it gonna cost me around 1300USD.

I’m currently wearing a Stelo, while using 2 separate Relion Platinum monitors for finger sticks. And I’m getting very different numbers from all. One Relion says 125. The other says 135. The Stelo is reading 111. I’m not sure how I can get an accurate reading, or what to believe. Is there a more trusted brand of monitor other than the Relion? Or could it be time to replace these monitors? I’ve had the Stelo for 3 days and the monitors for a few months.

 | I genuinely do not understand how Shad could sit there and watch this team get absolutely dismantled by the Lions yet do absolutely nothing during this bye week. If I have a dipole with one leg shorter than the other and a balun what will happen? Will it just behave as an off center dipole with a slightly different frequency and higher swr? Even In this case there should be common mode current because the impedances of the legs isn't equal so what will actually happen? What is the balun's effect? I (23M) have had a crush on this girl for a really long time but after like two years we have finally gotten int the talking stage. And this happened really naturally. Shes an introvert and doesnt say much things. Its been three or so weeks that I see her everyday (since we are in this performing arts society) Recently what I did was walk w her to the gate while tryna make a conversation, she said something that she didnt even complete saying and said nevermind. Its there that she wants to say something clearly. I am confused about this situation. She talks to me on text after we go home. I have never been in a relationship and I have been rejected many times. I am not a bad person I just dont know how to deal with a woman who you like. This time I feel the spark from both sides and I am surely optimistic regarding this situation but I really want this to work out. I have spent so much time on my own and learned so much from my loneliness. My mental health is way much better now although I have endured a lot of pain and hurt that occured earlier.

First off, I love the show, I love the perspective that Brooke and Micah bring and the insistence on holding the media to a higher standard. So a few weeks ago when I first heard Micah reading a Better Help ad it really shocked me. I have no issue with shows running advertising to pay the bills - advertising (and subscriptions) has paid my bills before at various newspapers. But my understanding was always that there is a solid firewall between the journalists and the advertisers - advertisers don’t get to say what the journalists do, and the advertising specialists, not the newsroom, deal with the advertisers. When a journalist reads an ad it suggests to me that they are lending their credibility to the product, that they have investigated it and confirmed it does what it says it does. There isn’t a clear difference between the voice of the news and the voice of the advertiser, even though an advertisement is paid for and a news segment absolutely should not be paid for. It blurs a line I thought was pretty clear in journalistic ethics: you don’t pay sources and you don’t get paid by them. And it does potentially create a conflict of interest - what if in a few years Better Help gets exposed as a scam and the show wants to do a story on how the company took over podcast advertising? How can they do so credibly when they were part of it? I know this is a pretty standard thing for podcasts to do. I know Slate has done it on news content for years and it irritates me no end. But especially for a show about media criticism to have the journalists cross that line and read the advertisements in their own voices seems like an unnecessary muddying of the waters. By all means, run the ads. By all means, have the hosts ask for donations - that’s a request to support their work which they should stand behind. But hearing Brooke Gladstone advertising Mint Mobile services as though it was another segment of the show was really surprising to me.
