2024.11.25 06:30 Ahmed_Momen22 Need help on deciding, which slot to put new PCIe 4.0 SSD in?
I have a 2021 Legion 5 Pro, it has 1 PCIe 4.0 slot and another PCIe 3.0 slot. However, the SSD that came pre-equipped with it is a 512GB samsung PCIe 3.0
I bought a 1TB WD Blue SN850 to increase the storage. It is a PCIe 4.0 drive. But the free slot right now in my laptop is the PCIe 3.0 one with the other faster one being occupied by the samsung gen 3 drive. Would switching the drives to take advantage of Gen 4 speeds be more of a hassle than it is worth? How do you even go around that, i haven't found a simmilar case online.
Correct me if im wrong, but in order to do that i have to insert the new drive into the 3.0 slot, clone the other drive, then open up the laptop again and switch them?, would that work?

2024.11.25 06:30 criticality500 For not wanting to use all my annual leave looking after my mother in law after a minor op?
MIL (75) is fit and well, and has a lovely life as a wealthy retiree in a village 5 hours from where we live. She is due cataract surgery soon, which she is having on each eye separately, so two operations.
I understand that any op is scary and am totally fine with taking a couple of days off to accompany her to the hospital and settle her in back home after (day 1) and then batch cook some food so she has some freezer meals available (day 2). I've read up on the modern surgery and it's now a very minor procedure. You don't even have to worry about bending over any more!
However, she is insisting we should be around for 7-10 days after each op. I don't think this is necessary and it would use up almost all my annual leave. Meanwhile, my own mother is actually sick (dementia) and my dad is in actual need of real help. I simply cannot afford to spend that much time on someone who doesn't really need any help when I have other relatives who need me so much more.
I'm also cautious about this because MIL has form for being a bully. She invited me to a party as a guest and when I arrived told me I would be serving drinks for the evening. She treated me like a servant, barked orders at me and screamed at me for not going fast enough. I think being a patient may offer an opportunity for similar "lady of the manor" type behaviour. I find her so difficult to be around her constant bullying that I go to a really dark place after 3 or 4 days in her company.
My husband is acting like I'm a hypocrite for saying it is unnecessary for us to be there for a week. He says I needed a week of care last year and he took time off work. But this isn't true - he wasnt on leave! He worked from home. And the surgery wasn't cataracts, I had an organ removed and was told to take 4 months off work.
When I had my wisdom teeth out, which is a more comparable thing, he flew to China and I dealt with dry socket by myself. (It was fine, I'm pretty independent so this wasn't an issue for me).
AITA for saying no? If the op was a major thing, I would absolutely be there. But cataract surgery is so minor, it surely doesn't require all of our annual leave?! Especially when my mum needs me more.

When I was putting my carry-on luggage and bags through the CT scanner, I forgot about my AirPods in my pocket. I quickly placed them in another tray, which I thought belonged to my friend, but now I’m not sure. After the items were scanned, I tried looking for my AirPods but couldn’t find them, and none of my friends had them. I asked the security staff to check the CCTV footage, but they said they couldn’t and were unhelpful.
The flight was from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi, and I’m already in Langkawi. I haven’t been able to find any customer support number online to report this. Please help.

Friend asked me to restore their 10 Wagner and I’m just coming into a million roadblocks. Questions- how long do I do vinegar soaks and scrubs? I feel like the rust is getting worse??? Do I try to mechanically buff out the pitting? Is that normal? Edit to add- the pan has gone through two “oven off in garbage bag” cycles with vinegar baths and scrubs between. No baking soda yet.
