Ahab addresses the carpenter, trolling him a bit for being “unprincipled” in the sense that he has many roles on the ship: a woodworker, a leg maker, an undertaker, and so on. Ahab, as is often the case, talks past the confused carpenter and walks away, ordering him to finish the buoy before he returns. Ahab goes into his cabin to talk more with Pip.
The next day, the Pequod meets the Rachel, a whaling ship with all of its crew up in the masts as lookouts – a bad omen, says the Manxman. Ahab asks if they’ve seen the white whale and the captain replies that he has, yesterday. The ships meet and Ahab jumps on deck, realizing that he and the captain know each other from Nantucket. The captain tells the story of their disastrous encounter with Moby Dick which led to one of their whale boats going missing, including his 12-year-old son. He pleads with Ahab to help scour the area to find the boat. Ahab refuses, adding “may I forgive myself, but I must go.” The Pequod continues its hunt for Moby Dick.
In the cabin, Ahab talks to Pip, preparing him for the encounter with Moby Dick and telling him not to follow him to the deck. As Ahab leaves, Pip talks to himself in third person asking no one – perhaps visions – if they’ve seen the coward Pip, but promises to stay put “though this stern strikes rocks; and they bulge through; and oysters come to join me.”

2024.11.25 07:21 gemandrailfan94 How should someone’s body be disposed of when they die? From a Christian perspective?
Is there anything in the Bible about this topic? Does it say anything as to wether someone’s body should be buried, cremated, or whatnot when someone dies?
If you believe that someone’s soul leaves their body upon death, does it even really matter? How about donating your body to science and research? Is there any reason that might be frowned upon?

2024.11.25 07:21 Throwaway01049 I (24f) plan to break up with my boyfriend (24m) tomorrow.
I'm unhappy. I really have been for a while now. We've been together 8 years. He quit his job a year and a half ago, and hasnt managed to find anything else. Sometimes it doesn't feel like he's putting the full effort in to try. He was good on the housework for a while, but now some stuff is just half-assed, and he says at least it's done. I work two jobs to cover the bills, and even though he got a large sum from the government (cows and plows for natives) it's not going to last forever, and I feel like it's stopped him from looking for work for a bit. We're now on opposite sleep schedules and I barely see him. I feel so touch and affection starved, but Im so miserable in general I don't even feel like asking him for that sort of attention. I think I'm just done, I have been for a while. We love together, so this will suck for a while. I have the income to support myself so he'll have to move to a different town with his family. He's going to scream, call me selfish, tell me im screwing him over, want to work it out. But I can't do it anymore. I can't live like this, I want to be alone, and to figure out who I am as a single adult. I want to make my own future and my own happiness separate from a partner. So, I'm going to break up with him tomorrow, and it'll be hard but I need to stick with it, and follow through this time.

1st Sony have dropped production - I take i as a bad sign especially when it's heavily discontinued eg to shift old stock.
