When we purchased this house it came with a few upscale appliances built in, one of which was a Scotsman SCN60 nugget ice maker. About a week or so ago it died. After having an appliance repairman out it was estimated to cost over $5000 to replace it OR repair it. To say my wife and I had some sticker shock would be the understatement of the year. I could buy two full sized refrigerators for what they want for this ice maker.
I get it. It's a luxury item, they don't make as many as they do refrigerators, etc etc. You'll never convince me that's a valid argument, but I understand WHY it's an argument.
It seems highly likely to me that the previous owners did zero maintenance on this thing as the auger motor looks like it had been rusting for several years. The house also didn't have a water softener or water filter at the time. I've since had one installed before I even knew it would effect appliance longevity.
The house came with a dreaded Samsung fridge with built in ice maker. Having previously owned one in my last house I've no interest in dumping $500 a shot to try and fix it only to have it break again in 6 months to a year. So we currently have no ice production at all.
My wife has finally agreed that we don't have to have a nugget ice maker, but we still need an ice maker. I can't justify $3500+ for an ice maker, I just can't. Can anyone recommend an ice maker for around $2000 or less that will last? I've been looking at the Thor TIM1501 at Lowes and Home Depot. I'm open to other options.

2024.11.25 12:13 ReachEducational3317 I'm pretty decent at rollerblading/iceskating, suck butt at rollerskating.
Had my first rollerblading lesson today (part of roller derby training) and holy crap it took me a long time before I felt like I could even balance properly. I'm not that great of a rollerblader but at least I can go pretty fast and easily do side to side maneuvering to pick up speed.
I feel so unbalanced with these heavy, clunky skates and going side to side was so difficult, fell 8378 times, haha. And it was WAY more of a workout than I thought it would be (which is great, no complaints). Any insight/tips?

It's getting bad! All over my body! From tingling to skin crawling to random flashes of pain. Hands, feet, head, and everything inbetween. Like my whole body is waking up from being numb. It's infuriating! And seriously ruining my sleep!
I wonder if it might be a side effect of Gabapentin. I'm only taking 300mg at bedtime to help reduce muscle spasms at night. It does seem to be helping, but am still getting painful muscle tightness, like my whole body seizing up. And now the severe tingling! I might have to stop taking it and see what happens.
Or it's just the latest fibro thing thats come along to ruin my life...
Anyway, anyone have trouble with this? Causes? Solutions? Commiserations?
Waiting for the nerves to settle and sleep to come....
