I was hoping someone could help, I've had this piece for the last 25/30 years, I used to work as a red liner buying and selling vintage garments, but can't find any info in this Carhartt's piece, the buttons are branded Carhartt's not Carhartt, I know it's an original garment because of how I came by it, it was my EDW for years, but age and too many cafe lunches have made it shrink somehow (I got fat), I've had in the bottom of a trunk for the last 15 years and now my son wears it.
I just want a little history to ease my old man brain. any help welcome

I'm a former Baptist who currently attends a relatively conservative Pentacostal church. I don't belive in gifts of the spirit the way Pentacostals teach. I've been studying in the way of apologetics for a year by following teachings from the likes of Cliff Knechtle, Allen Parr and Voddie Baucham.
Yesterday, at church, I was worshipping with my eyes closed when something in the air shifted. I opened my eyes and I visually saw a shadow sweep over the congregation. As this happened, folks in the church began acting as you would see folks on TV would act, as some say "drunk in the spirit" and "slain in the spirit", which I do not believe is correct interpretation of the scriptures. I looked over to a woman who has only been to our church once, and I saw, not visually but in my mind, a shadow figure mimicking what was happening in the church. As I was questioning what I was witnessing, the same woman began to go around the church praying over people. At one point she grabbed a 3 year old girl and tried to drag her up to the platform, with the girl strongly resisting and crying. It continued until the pastor shut down worship and went into the message. As he was giving the message, I could see that shadow figure with that woman, mocking the pastor. I told my wife what was happening, and she told me she felt quite uneasy. I prayed to have this entity removed from the church. I prayed for a while, I started to feel a relief, so I opened my eyes and that woman was standing up and acting agitated. I told my wife to look, then the woman sat down and that feeling came back and she was looking comfortable again. I have so many feelings about this and am looking for any information someone can give me about this experience. I'm a logical minded person dealing with a very illogical event. I'm probably most disturbed that people in the congregation had experienced a demonic presence and thought it was the presence of the Holy Spirit.

We all know the Bible math that lead up to 1914 is complete hogwash, however convincing a witness of that is nigh impossible. The thing is, we don't even need to dive into the Bible math rabbit hole to prove how ridiculous the concept of Bible math, let alone 1914, really is.
In 1914, according to JW theology, The Devil was cast down from heaven and sent to Earth. He then immediately caused WW1 to wreak havoc on the Earth and all humans. You've already lost me here. If us lowly humans were able to figure out this complex Bible math, who's to say The Devil, a higher dimensional being whom we can't even comprehend the existence of, couldn't? The Devil is canonically able to quote from scripture, so he would have known hundreds of years in advance that this was God's plan. He would have had hundreds of years to think "Hmm, maybe I'll go against the plan and prove God completely wrong and win!" But no, he did exactly what God wanted him to do.
Now there are three possible arguments to this.

  1. We figured out the Bible math first.
  2. Satan was scared of dying just like Peter was.
  3. God is omnipotent and is always right
And there are three pretty simple counters to each argument.
  1. Completely arrogant to say we are smarter than a being beyond our comprehension.
  2. Peter was a human, and Satan knows his time wouldn't have come yet. And even if Satan was to die that day, Witnesses teach that he wants to take everyone down with him, which he could have easily done if he just didn't start WW1.
  3. So God was responsible for the millions of deaths in WW1 and Satan was just a pawn in his game.
No matter how you look at it, 1914, and the concept of Bible math in general, makes absolutely no sense.
