2024.11.25 15:12 Connect-Bite1683 LG 27GS930E won’t turn back on??
Yesterday I was gaming on my monitor and it all the sudden it turned off. I tried turning it back on and that didn’t do anything. Usually it’ll beep at you when it turns on, but it never did.
Next I tried different outlets (no difference, they worked for other things) and even did the hard reset where you unplug everything and hold down the power button. I am still using the original power cable. And the monitor itself is in fine physical condition.
Any ideas? I’m still under warranty and I’ve sent an email to LG but shipping it back for a repair sounds like a big pain the ass.

Warning: Some Spoilers
The reason why Astarion talks so much about blood is another part of his abuse. If anyone has ever gone hungry at any point in their life, food becomes something that is often on one's mind. They want to make sure it's stashed somewhere or always available and they can get to it fast without worrying about going hungry for hours. Sometimes even minutes can cause someone to panic. They will overindulge themselves until they are sick. Which explains why Astarion drinks the blood of an ENTIRE BEAR! He wanted to be sure he had what he needed just in case of a dry spell.
Another thing someone pointed out on Tumblr is that people think Astarion is lazy and stupid. He's not, instead being so hypervigilant of danger, he wears himself out. Anxiety and fear can take a toll on someone who's been abused, mentally, emotionally, and physically to the point it can cause ailments. He is paranoid Cazador will snatch him from the companions who have become his safety net. He has to keep his manipulation tactics up in Act One, only relaxing the tiniest bit in Act Two (a little more if being romanced, from what I've noticed so far, since I've only gotten to Act Two with him romanced). Plus, as a rogue, he has to know how to get out of situations. He says he's not a details person, but trauma brain tends to do that. He has to push himself into paying attention, which again, exhausts him. That's why he relies on Tav/Durge often to make the decisions and is always asking if that's what Tav/Durge wants when doing something with them. The anxiety of doing something wrong and getting punished or outcast to where Cazador can get him scares the sh*t out of him. That's why he practically begs Tav/Durge to keep him around, going so far as to manipulate them with sex, something he knows keeps people interested. And why he goes 'feral' when Tav/Durge decides to give him away (from the little I've seen of people testing his reactions with certain decisions). He panics and attacks, probably the only thing he knows to do when someone is in some sort of relationship with him, like he had to do with his siblings (I'm not sure, but in an abusive situation like his, I don't doubt it happened if they wanted to eat). And why he's shocked when Tav/Durge accepts him for how he is. It's something he hasn't experienced in 200 years. It might have been something before he was turned, but trauma brain messes with holding onto good memories, holding onto the bad so it can calculate when something is about to go wrong. So he does what he can to let his walls down, since Tav/Durge has given him that safety and nudge to better himself the best way he can (doesn't mean he'll get rid of all his flaws, the racism, for one). You can't do unless you try and he does try, as far as I know.

Ich suche ein Weihnachtsgeschenk für meinen Freund der leidenschaftlicher Elektroingenieur ist. Bei uns wird alles zerlegt, studiert und verbessert oder wiederverwendet. Kennt der ein oder andere sicher.
Er hat sich dieses Jahr etwas gewünscht aber blieb sehr vage. Er möchte etwas basteln/machen/aufbauen während wir über Weihnachten wieder in der Heimat sind. Er hatte schon so ein paar Holzpuzzle/Bausätze bekommen, die findet er aber nur ok. Das ist es also nicht.
Lego bzw. größere Dinge zum hinstellen sind bei uns schwierig weil wir eine kleine Wohnung haben.

I shared this trick recently with somebody on here and thought that some of you might find this helpful if you don’t already know about it.
It’s very interesting because I’ve suffered from sleeplessness many times in the past after deciding to stop smoking, however, this time I haven’t had any sleeplessness at all.
One trick I’ve learned from enduring those sleepless nights,
THE HOT SHOWER METHOD:
When you can’t sleep, take a hot shower and make sure to hold your head under the shower’s flow for a little bit, enough to feel the warmth all over!
Now go right to bed!
Before you try this method, make sure you’ve done everything you want to do before going to bed.
(brush your teeth before the shower & do anything in advanced that might prevent you from going directly to bed after your shower.)
Reason this will help:
I’m told that your body starts a natural cooling process that will ultimately induce drowsiness.
I’ve take 3 hot showers in one night before and every time I get out of that shower, I sleep. Even if it’s only for a little bit, I still get some sleep! (Better than nothing!)
There are some extremely helpful videos on YouTube that can help a lot too!
I hope this tip works for you as well as it works for me and I hope it will bring you some comfort during these difficult times.
What you are doing isn’t easy, so remember to always be kind to yourself!

Recently been trying to play Austria with the new tree. All is well until I try to annex old imperial lands. Hungary folds no problem, but when I take the sub-decisions to increase probability for the czechs or romanians, namely trying to do joint military exercises or industry bribe thing these missions get bugged. ''Not: trying to annex...'' tooltip never goes away and is stuck forever. Wondering anyone has had the same problem

Will be my 2nd year snowboarding and want to get my own gear. I've tried different bindings from friends and am dead set on using the Burton on system.
If I'm able to get the boot sizing down correctly, can I just buy the bindings/snowboard and assemble myself? I am a skateboarder so assuming it's just as easy but wanted to see if there's anything I'm missing out on by not going into a store.

2024.11.25 15:12 Laucchi Need Advice: Leaving Abusive Lab, Former PI Has Already Stated He Won’t Respect Boundaries
Title, basically.
I finished my PhD in July after 4.5 years of daily verbal abuse, emotional manipulation, and zero respect of boundaries from my PI. I’ve accepted a position on a T32 to do a postdoc, and I’m finally leaving this awful lab. My last day is this Friday.
My current PI (my graduate advisor) has asked if I’d stop by once a week to help with experiments. I tried to say that probably wouldn’t be possible, but he wouldn’t hear it. Just this morning, I told him I was preparing a binder full of documentation to ease the transition in hopes that it would keep me from getting spammed with questions — he said that I should expect to be spammed regardless.
He’s mean and vindictive, and doesn’t take no for an answer without consequence. He’s also just…wildly incompetent. My first author paper is the only research paper he’s gotten out of the lab since I joined in 2020. He has so many unfinished projects, and he can barely keep them all straight. He’s consistently late for meetings unless I remind him. I’ve gone behind him cleaning up his messes (or preventing them from becoming messes) to keep us out of trouble with IACUC/Division of Animal Resources, along with just generally keeping the lab running.
Logically, I know that once I’m out of the lab, he has no power over me. Illogically (gotta love the anxious lizard brain) I’m scared of him making my life hell.
Does anyone else have any experience with a similar situation, or does anyone have any advice on how to navigate this? The university is aware of his behavior, but I was told in my second year that my complaints about him were “unfounded”, because they spoke to him and he denied ever doing those things.
