Whenever I sit down at my DAW, one of the things that is always prominent in my mind is repetition. Repitition wears your ears out and you loose interest. However, I came across a piece called Andhim - Starz (Original Mix) [Superfriends Records]. I would link, but I am unsure about this sub's linking policy. Anyways, the song is 6 minutes of the same small handful of chords repeated over and over. There is some variation in textures and such, but the backbone is the same repetitive chords, and it seems to work for me.
So my question is, why does this particular piece work? Why is is pleasing and not the drudgery of yet another few bars of the same chords?

There was a long shallow scratch in my floor that was really visibile in the light (first photo). A supposedly experienced wood repair guy came to fix it and it looks like he took a dark touch up marker to it, making it so much more noticeable than before (second photo).
Is there any way to clean this up?

I am european living in Latin America and I was found by an external recruiter for a position in Belgium it took 4 months and 4 interviews also 1 exam which I passed exceeding the average and according to the recruiter I was the one on top for the position.
I found out I was rejected because I asked for my status application š today....4 MONTHS...yes I was willing to move and I had a place to stay .I am not mad they picked someone else I am mad after investing this amount of energy not being properly informed.
I am just here venting.

This is exactly the role of Hong Qihong in the novel to the main character ā¢ Plum blossom swordman - Huang Yaoshi: They both are powerfull old man who lives isolated to the world and both are the main heroine father. Iāve never really ādatedā before, just kind of landed in relationships somehow. So Iāve never tried the apps, or put myself in places where Iām trying to meet men, or anything like that. And I feel like even if I braved the apps and set up a date with someone, Iād be so out of my element and awkward, Iām terrible at small talk and donāt know how to flirt.
But Iām recently single again after a year-long relationship I thought was going great ended very abruptly, and Iām realizing that Iām in my 40s and maybe donāt want to just wait around hoping I random my way into another relationship.
So help a girl out! Are any of the apps not just complete trash? And do any of them favor actually getting to know each other a bit before jumping into a date? Or is it pretty much all just put up a picture and decide based on that? I have my kids all but a couple weekends a month so I donāt have unlimited time available for dates, so I feel like I need to be a bit choosy with how I spend my time.
And more generally, any tips for getting out of my own way and taking the leap to put myself out there on the apps or wherever people find dates? I have a total fear of putting my name and pic up there and having people I know see it. Or just having no idea how to decide if I even want to go on a date with someone, because I donāt think Iād feel any attraction based on a pic and a list of data about them. Basically, just help me please!

iāve been so frustrated with my job lately, and feel like iām not being understood at ALL. some context, iām a hair apprentice and thereās a huge issue with the industry and people being awful to apprentices. iāve been seeking out salons that are more modern, women owned, understandingā¦ a lot of my coworkers are so nice and helpful. but my main educator, responsible for teaching me and moving me up, has this weird idea of me that iām super egotistical and think iām better than everyone and donāt need help. what i believe, is the opposite. iāve been in the industry for 4 years (2 years longer than whatās average for an apprenticeship), but iām seeking proper education. i thought i was more advanced than a brand new apprentice so i asked if fast tracking was at all possible, and my boss said yeah if you can pass the evals, which i agreed to. she constantly says iām making excuses, when she gives feedback and i try to explain how i got there and what i need to do next time. weāve had a couple of heated convos where i tell her that i donāt feel like iām communicating what i want correctly, or iām being misunderstood. she loves to tell me that everything is an excuse, and iām pushing back. i explain i learn better when i can talk it out, and she doesnāt have to tell me anything back, but she told me to keep it to myself next time.
during the eval, i told her āsorry, i think my nerves are getting the better of me today. iām a little anxiousā. and she immediately goes, āoh, you shouldnāt be coming up with excuses. i canāt pass you on this eval just because youāre anxiousā and i was like? confiding in you doesnāt mean iām expecting a pass lol, you can fail me but give me advice at the same time. iāll be disappointed but doesnāt mean i wonāt move on to just go at a slower pace. when i directly express how willing i am to learn and slow down, she tells me āyou donāt seem willing to learn or slow downā.
iāve briefly mentioned autism to my boss, but iām not officially diagnosed (i have all the markers for it anyways since childhood and have had medical professional think i have it but havenāt had the $10k evaluation) so i didnāt want to delve into it. my ācommunication skillsā have gotten me into a couple stupid situations at this salon already, and iāve never had as many issues with communication in my LIFE as iāve had in the last 3 months.
i feel i mask extremely well, and people never suspect it. when she got defensive about me being anxious i immediately decided i wasnāt going to tell her because it didnāt seem safe to. but now i have a meeting with her and my boss this week because she literally told me after this week, if we canāt figure it out, this is her last try at trying to make it work. not very supportive of an educator obviously, but like how do i even navigate this? everyone tells me im in the right, BUT need to learn to shut up sometimes. which i agree lol. but that doesnāt change the fact that she tells me i have bad communication skills. if i tell her i have autism i can almost guarantee sheāll say itās an excuse. itās her favourite word at this point. which is crazy to me bc my autism specifically means i cannot lie, and i cannot make excuses lol. i have so much room for improvement, and admitted to her i feel like im not as prepared as i originally thought, but iām willing to go at the pace she wants me to.
sheās made me consider leaving the industry and this is the only thing iāve wanted to do since i was 10 years old so it makes me sad that sheās literally made me have thoughts like that. i have a small clientele of my own, and have experience with colour, but sheās making me think i literally have no clue how to formulate and told me we need to go back to the basics. i definitely made a mistake in formulating for the client for my eval, and im annoyed at myself for it and want to review so i can practice more, but itās like she canāt accept that one mistake doesnāt mean i donāt know anything. it was 1/5 people i did that my formula was a little too warm for, but she corrected me before mixing it. i donāt think sheās being 100% unrealistic but also idk what else iām supposed to do when she interprets things i say the complete opposite? i also am predicting sheāll say something like āwhy are you only telling me nowā and making it seem like itās my fault lol, but i was worried it would make people treat me differently and she scared me off from opening up to her. my boss also is the type of person to be like āwhat! why didnāt you tell her that makes no senseā
any advice? iāve been super professional with her with trying to explain myself. i canāt exactly quit, the salon industry talks, but also thereās just not enough salons that fit my ideals anyways (a lot are more old school, white women salons, which i HAVE worked at, but iām a young queer POC. previous salons have kept me as a glorified cleanereceptionist, or promise me education but never deliver) so iām pretty stuck here.
