It feels like everything I do bothers the people around me, like I can't even breathe or look in a certain direction without upsetting someone. Someone once told me I'm a "weird person in an attractive body," and that’s apparently the only reason people tolerate me. They say I fall somewhere on the "hot/crazy" scale, but I don’t think I’m crazy. I just say and do the things others are too afraid to. Yes, I’m neurodivergent, and maybe that has something to do with it—or maybe it’s just that most people are too scared to step outside societal norms. Idk, is it just me?

Very thankful to have gotten accepted to a DO school this month. As the deposit due date approaches I'm really stressed out about loans. I have a little under 60k in undergrad debt rn and the school I got into is estimating COA for each year including tuition, housing, food, travel will be ~110K. Multiply that by 4 and add my undergrad debt + interest and that's almost half a million in debt. Is this just the norm if you don't go to a state-school? I know physicians make a decent living but 500K in total loans is insane to me. I can't even fathom a number like that. Am I going to be in debt for the majority of my life? Even if I made 400K a year as an attending after residency, I'm assuming I wouldn't be able to live significantly enough below my means to pay my loans back in a reasonable amount of time as there may be other things in my life I want to pay for (i.e. a house). Sorry, I know this is very neurotic and way in the future but debt really scares me.

Right now I’m trying to decide if I should level up the grekhova or the SAUG as an akimbo secondary. Right now I’m running the ASG and right now just hip firing it’s pretty meh. Not unusable but just kinda underwhelming. So when I’m done leveling up the AK I’m gonna ethier get started on the grekhova or the SAUG depending on which one is best for akimbo. I’ve heard the grekhova is kinda underwhelming too but I wanna get some thoughts.

I ran a session this weekend where the party was asked to be freed by a djinni that was bound to a spellbook. The binding breaks when the wizard dies, so the party knows the wizard is alive. The party seeks out the wizard and finds that he's not evil, but has a questionable past that he appears to be making up for. The djinni wants the wizard killed to get free, but also wants revenge for being bound in the first place. The wizard was scared so asked the party to kill the djinni.
I didn't make either NPC likeable, but I also didn't make either evil. They both had reasons, but I was forcing the party to choose. I was being ambiguous and neutral in my improv and guidance as a DM, because I didn't want to make the choice for them, and I didn't want to seed their opinions. It also really didn't matter who they chose to support...it just would have informed the next part of the campaign without me railroading them.
My wife said, "You kinda put two neutral people in front of us who were not great, but not evil, and asked us to pull the trigger on one of them." It turns out that there are people who won't "pull the trigger", and I literally was causing them distress by forcing the matter. I then made the matter worse by NOT giving them something to latch onto to justify supporting or not supporting them.
If I'd realized the situation earlier, I would have done a better job. I tried to fix the problem by letting the wizard try to break the binding without getting killed, but I'd already narrated the djinni into a corner where it was clear he was going to attack the wizard. Eventually, the party went with this option. The wizard was successful, and yes, the djinni attacked him. I then gave the party the ability to bail on the situation and they took it...letting the djinni and wizard to duke it out without them.

The session sucked, and I learned a valuable lesson. In an effort to let the party guide the next part of the campaign by making a morally ambiguous choice, it became an unintentional trap session. By trying to be neutral and making neither of them better or worse, and minimize the importance of the choice, I actually made the situation worse. I was trying to be empowering of the end users, but I didn't read the room well enough. One person made the decision after about 10 minutes. The other took about 20 minutes of dialog. The third was just distressed. They didn't want unnecessary killing and was doing everything they could to reconcile the differences between two parties who wanted each other dead.
TLDR: Be careful with morally ambiguous decisions presented to the table. While you may want to leave a hard choice to the party, this can be table breaking if you can't get everyone on the same page. In books or other media, you can force characters to make tough situations and then deal with the consequences. At a D&D table, you really should plan an "out" in case you have players who aren't willing to "pull the trigger". Some may not care about the consequences. Some may justify their own decision. And yet some may completely face plant.
This will be a new session 0 question going forward for me.

No idea if I'll be able to keep using my laptop during the hearing, though, I've never been in the audience for this judge's proceedings. And my updates won't be any faster or more reliable than people listening on the call.
We just happened to be in the area for the holiday and thought this would be worth seeing.
So far, attorneys have drifted in--quite a few more than I'd expect to see in a district court hearing, but likely this isn't unusual for bankruptcy, which has more parties than a usual trial would. Everyone is clustered at the trustee's table, where Jones et all would normally sit, but for a few at the other table who I believe represent the CT families and Global Tetrahedron.

2024.11.25 19:46 Billy_The_Squid_ Importing previous solution as initial stress not working for non linear model
I'm trying to import the results of a previous simulation on the same model through the external data node (exported as vector principal stress). I'm happy looking at the visualization that the equivalent stress that I'm importing has imported correctly (the color maps look the same) but when I try to solve the simulation it says it can't converge. I've applied exactly the same boundary conditions as before (fixed support at bottom, force on top, non linear contact regions) except I've set the force to be very tiny (1.e-006N) so that I can only see the effects of the imported load. I've also tried with a force of zero but that has the same effect. Why wouldn't this be working? Surely it should only be impacted by the (previously converged) results? The solution information also won't give me any information (it's fully blank).

2024.11.25 19:46 Niaoru Why does my cat run if I try to pick her up? :(
My cat is just under a year and a half. She loves it when I pet her when she's laying down in her basket or bed. She'll purr at me and kiss my face, but she runs from me when I try to pick her up off of the ground or try to pet her. She doesn't get hackles or a poofed tail, she just runs to her paper bag or cardboard box I made for her. I usually have one paper bag I leave for her to play in after I buy groceries(I cut the handles off).
She only hides for a brief moment, before she comes up to me again. It seems like she wants to play. But she does it every single time I reach down near her. If she's laying down on one of her beds, she doesn't seem to mind me picking her up for a few minutes, and it seems like she enjoyes her above the neck scratches. She only actively tries to get away if she is running around on the ground.
She's otherwise very playful with me. She chases a little ball that I throw and I have da bird and other interactive toys that I use to play with her. She sleeps between my legs most nights and follows me when I leave the room. She brushes up against my legs when I've been on the computer too long, and she'll hop up on my desk to see what I'm doing. What I'm trying to say is she's not afraid of me and even seems to enjoy my company. So why does she run from me? :(

2024.11.25 19:46 LookZestyclose1908 Tips on Shooting accuracy?
Sup dudes. I'm in my second year of Beer league, play right wing mainly. I'm pretty amazed at how far I've come as far as skating. But from the get go, my biggest strength has stick handling. It's just a natural feeling and I'm pretty adept at deking through the neutral zone and getting myself deep in the offensive zone to take high percentage shots or finding open passing lanes. The talent of the defense is probably a factor here but I'm considered one the better puck handlers in my league. The problem is, my shot accuracy is horrible. At this point I'm able to skate with my head up so I'm not shooting completely blind. But the fact remains, I'm not even close to where I aim.
Any drills, videos, or guidance this sub can offer so I can improve? If I can improve my shot I think I'd be ready to make the jump to the next league. TIA
