2024.11.25 20:31 ivomesh Cozy mystery following one person or one POV
Im usually listening to cozy mysteries audiobooks when trying to sleep and I've ran out of which to listen to. I'm done with all the Finlay Donovan books, and listened to the first two Thursday Murder Club books, but felt they became kind of boring and its hard to keep track of whats happening when there are more than one POV as Im falling asleep.
Cannot be scary in as that would just wake me up - even though scary is very subjective

Hey everyone, earlier today I madee a comment on a post in writingadvice. It was kind of a dead thread, but I thought what I'd written could be useful to anyone who struggles creating well-rounded characters or getting a feel for their voice/personality.
My suggestion is to grab a piece of paper or open your writing app and just use these questions to brainstorm for about 5-10 minutes per character. Obviously you don't have to do this with every single character, but at least your main protagonist(s) and antagonist(s) might benefit from it.
To be clear, all these prompts are about designing a character's personality, not their appearance. Though their appearance could potentially affect some of your answers.
BASICS: What do they want? What is preventing them from getting what they want? What do they fear? How do their fears affect their behavior? How do they want to be seen by others? How are they actually seen by others? What would they never share with anyone about themselves?
BACKGROUND & RELATIONSHIPS: How did they grow up? How did their surroundings influence them? What events in their life had a lasting impact, either positive or negative? What was their family situation like growing up? (Big family, small family, no family, found family?) Do they have a healthy relationship with their family? What's their friends situation? (Lots of friends, small group of friends, one best friend, no friends?) Do they have healthy relationships with their friends? What's their experience with romantic relationships? Has it been mainly good or bad? What do they find attractive in other people? What in other people is a huge turn-off for them?
PERSONALITY TYPE Are they shy and introverted, or extroverted and social? Where do they land in terms of book smarts/street smarts/emotional intelligence/social skills? Do they have a sense of humor or tend to be more serious? Are they the type to get work done early or procrastinate? Are they more cynical or optimistic? How do they deal with their emotions? What activities or hobbies do they enjoy? What are their greatest strengths? What are their biggest flaws? What do people like about them? What do people dislike about them?
BELIEFS AND VALUES Do they believe in god(s) or an afterlife, or are they more on the atheistic side? When it comes to politics, how much do they care? Do they lean more towards "law and order" type beliefs or are they more rebellious/chaotic? Do they have strong moral convictions, or are they more morally gray? What might get them to compromise on their morals? What's a line they would absolutely NEVER cross?
Hope this is helpful to someone! If anyone can think of other good prompts to add, I'd love to see them in the comments.

I suck at school and i'm not even kidding, since I was little, I had some facilites at school; in EVERY subjects, even teachers wanted me to pass a class That was before I entered high-school. My family is expecting a lot from me, but nobody really knows that I've been struggling so bad with it My teachers are making me anxious, but nobody does it like my philosophy one She's putting so much pression on me and I hate it, when I tell her that I don't understand what she's saying she's telling me that I don't work at home blah blah blah, I had a mock exams of her subject and I'm screwed, I only wrote 20 lines in 2 hours, I've been panicking the whole time, I don't know how she will react when she'll find out, I m so scared, I don't want her to scream at me in front of everyone else, I hate it. Sometimes when I tell her that I do my best she's telling me to quit making excuses ??? I don't think I will have my graduation at this rate, I can't stop thinking about her I spent my whole weekend thinking about her, when I zone out I do too, EVERY TIME I'm thinking about it, it's like it's eating me up

So I need a laptop with good battery life like atleast 5 hours. So with the currents sales my choices are either Asu’s Zenbook 14. But I will always appreciate a powerful laptop. So should I look into Lenovo LOQ and Lenovo Legion Slim 5. Which will have bad battery life but if I buy a power bank do you guys think I can compensate for that? Hi there! I’m looking for a fic I lost ages ago but haven’t been able to find! It’s a marauders era wolf star fic I think. From what I remember of it Sirius finds a muggle record store not far from his home where he is introduced to all the amazing 70’s rock of the time, the store is run by two alternative style people who take a quick liking to Sirius, adopting and teaching him everything they know, basically he gets his love of leather jackets, motor bikes and music from this place. I know it was on Ao3 if that’s helpful as well!
I don’t remember much else but this specific thing has been stuck in my head and it’s vanished itself from my history, if anyone has any idea I’d be eternally grateful!
