Hey lovely people! I hope you are all doing well <3
I wanted to share my journey so far in case anyone else is going through something similar in their healing. NSFW for bruising.
I am a trans man, so this surgery was very much another step of my transition, and not a response to pain or complications with my uterus. I essentially saw it as something that was necessary to get done eventually, and when I went in for an Endocrinologist appt a few months ago and they asked about it, I figured I might as well get it set up. For me, I have not had periods in about 6 yrs (they were relatively painful, but not debilitating) nor have I had pronounced pelvic pain (besides occasional soreness), however I have extreme dysphoria from the idea of ever having periods again, or getting pregnant, and also wanted to avoid the risk of cancer with an organ that really wasn't doing anything.
I had my surgery on November 15th. We went for a laparoscopic, vaginal assisted, with removal of the uterus, tubes and cervix, keeping the ovaries. I'm told the operation was standard, but I had some endometriosis on the left side of my pelvis that was removed. Everything seemed good coming out of surgery, but as I was recovery with my family, a nurse noticed a hematoma on my right side incision. I've attached pictures from the first few days PO and also two from today, 10dpo. The swelling is super pronounced, and the bruising has slowly graduated backwards (since I've been laying down).
I was kept overnight at the hospital for monitoring, after they expected an outpatient surgery. I was discharged the next day without any further testing (despite the nurses talking about wanting to do a CT). I went home with my family hoping to rest off the discomfort of the anesthesia and surgery. I successfully used the bathroom a few times with some assistance. After around only an hour of being home, I attempted to stand by myself and use the bathroom, and fainted in the doorway. I fell face first into my bathtub and almost smashed my head on the faucet. My dad was with me and heard the ruckus, and after he tried to sit me up, I passed out a second time.
I was taken back to the hospital in an ambulance, and after getting a CT scan was told I had a 10cm muscular hematoma that appeared to be bleeding into my pelvis. I was poked and prodded for a few hours and told that it was likely (but not conclusive) that the internal bleeding had caused a drop in my blood pressure which likely caused me to faint. I had no irregularities in my heart, but my hematocrit & hemoglobin had dropped down to 9% (should be at 13%+) meaning I had lost a fair amount of blood. I was kept overnight again so I could be monitored and tested every 4 hrs.
I felt horrible that day, slept a solid 4hrs in between tests that night, and woke up the next day feeling exponentially better. I did a few more tests and a CT scan where I was found to have no more leakage from the hematoma, as well as a rising h&h (11%, yay!) and I was released back home later that day.
Since all that, my healing has been relatively smooth. I checked in again with the surgeon about my hematoma (still swollen, slightly warm, firm to the touch, painful) and was told it just needs the balm of time. It is causing some mobility and pain issues still, but I feel altogether pretty good.
I just wanted to share this story as an (somewhat) educational anecdote. I think that I am a pretty fringe case, and I dont think this will happen to you. But if it does, you're not alone.
My doctors and nurses did not do a particularly good job of explaining what was happening to me, why, and giving me the information I needed to make informed choices on my recovery, but I feel very lucky to have my nurse grandmas who were with me, and a few amazing nurses who were there at the hospital. I don't think my surgeon messed up, I think this was just random chance, and there were some mistakes made by my care team (ie not doing a CT the first discharge).
Unfortunately, bad things sometimes just happen. I am 23, don't drink, don't smoke, don't do any drugs. I rode my bike miles and miles a week (God I miss it lol). I had very few risk factors, but any surgery is a risk. I hope that the rest of my recovery is smooth and easy, and I hope yours is too.
Please feel free to ask any questions. Also, take advantage of your support system! I might have prevented all this if I had just asked for help to the bathroom! Maybe not, but who knows lol.

Hey guys, like the title says I’m just wondering what made you decide to try dmt for the first time? I was recently speaking to someone who said they really enjoyed shrooms and wanted to know more about how the universe works. I love shrooms and always have an amazing and insightful experience on them, and have also been meditating for a while and recently reading the Tibetan book of the dead. I didn’t have the time to ask my friend more about what he meant and it just made me wonder what sort of experiences led you guys to try dmt for the first time. I’ve been talking with this guy on Bumble for a month now. He’s from another country and he’ll visit mine next month or so. He just asked me if I have any piercings or tattoos. The question is a little bit uncanny. Why does he want to know that?
