2024.11.25 21:40 Phyrre1 Did I play my first game correctly?

This was the recommended first scenario, Voracious Goddess.
I understood that the starting clue was a map to follow. The map is a bit imprecise but close enough. I was doing alright until I tried to restock my deck before climbing the cliff. I went hunting at my last remaining Green hunting location and I got 3 awful cards as my "rewards." It was something like empty handed, snake (only gives exp, not food) and a bear that I did not have the inventory items to have any hope of successfully killing. I flipped that hunting spot to Gold, it was much harder to hunt now, but I managed to flip 3 cards to choose from. I turned over 3 goddamn snakes. So I spent all of that energy hunting for ZERO food.
At this point I figured my only chance was to try to rush to the end of the path on the clue card. I did that. I got to the statue. I did not have the eyes. I had no idea I was even looking for eyes. OK, lesson learned. I interpreted the clue to find the eyes. I went to the cave near the jungle.
When I got to that cave, there was a challenge that - if I passed - I had to reset the board. I was running on fumes at this point because, as previously mentioned, because of my 2 failed hunting attempts in a row, I was hoping to rush to the finish.
Am I correct in assuming that because I have to clear the board, when I leave that cave I now have to re-explore everything? Dozens of locations just to get back to the statue? And also there's an entire 2nd location I have to find and explore?
This feels so incredibly long. I've been taking copious notes because every review of the game says you need to take copious notes so I've been playing the scenario at this point for about 30 hours. Only to find out I didn't even know what I was looking for and there's SO MUCH GAME left beyond the point that I will certainly die.
This feels absolutely brutal for an introductory scenario. I must have done something wrong or missed a clue about getting the eyes first before going all the way to the statue, yes? Please say yes and that I didn't just wait all of that time on a horribly designed game?

So I used to be an oil satin impervo guy. That hasn't really been something I've used in quite some time now. Closest thing I found has been cabinet coat but I don't like that it cracks on caulking. It does have a similar appearance and definitely looks good. I also tried command because that's supposed to stretch but the sheens are way off. What are people's favorite trim paint? I don't want to use advance because of the dry time. I will not be using any latex products. Thanks for the input.

I'm actually really bad at writing about myself. I'm a bilingual Latino who's looking to make a real connection with someone special. I consider myself a very okay person who enjoys the company of fellow very okay people. My interests are the very unique nerdy ones that are totally not common in reddit, which include gaming, movies, anime, reading and other random stuff. • For gaming, I'm currently heavily invested in Guild Wars 2. I'm open to trying out other games too and I think it would be fun to stream games to each other occasionally too.
• I like reading fantasy mainly and usually get invested in the lore of the games I play and sometimes read the books.
• While I used to follow seasonal anime, I haven't been keeping up as much lately. I do have quite a few in my "to watch" list though.
Besides all of that, I understand people have different deal breakers/preferences and I value honesty a lot. So I propose we get those out of the way first to avoid awkwardness. If either of us is not the other's type or the location is a deal breaker we can just wish each other the best and part ways :)

I got my nose pierced back in January of this year and I've been wearing the same 18 gauge stud since I got it pierced. I haven't had many issues with it other than a couple bumps for the first two months of having it, but back in May I tried to change it to an 18 gauge nose hoop. It started bleeding and getting irritated and I looked online that it was not good to change your piercing this early (as well as the fact that 18g hoops tend to be thicker than 18g studs) so I took it out and put the stud back in. Now that I've had it for around 10 months, I want to change it to a 20g hoop because it's thinner than the 18g hoop. It's healed pretty well but I'm worried that the 20 gauge hoop I just bought will be too small and cause the "cheese cutter effect". Should I be fine with the 20 gauge or should I buy an 18 gauge instead? Thank you!

Garmin Race Predictor - so far so gooood A little background…Turning 35 next year and am around 160lbs. Never was a runner but started running in late July of this year. Got my Garmin Forerunner 265 in early September and fully started using Garmin Run Coach in late September. Priority is set to Marathon for next year and this 10K was a supporting event.
Ran my first ever race as a 10K over the weekend. Was a bit nervous as I had never run faster than a pace of 9/mi for a 10K and Garmin was expecting a sub 8/mi pace. My best 5K was around 8:15/mi back in October and I knew I could potentially get that down to 7:45/mi pace for a 5K. So I was pleasantly surprised to have been able to race this 10K at almost the same speed as what I thought I could only do with a 5K.
Anyway, around mile 4.5? 5?, I took some water from an aid station which was a mistake since I guess I drank too much and immediately started getting cramps in my chest. I normally don’t drink water during a 10K during training. So I think if I hadn’t cramped, I would have been able to finish stronger and meet the Garmin Prediction exactly at 48:00.

I don't understand the confusion. Yes, I think it's pretty obvious there's a double standard between these two. However, pointing that out isn't the "gotcha" that you might think it is.
Kendrick Lamar delves into the breadth of the human experience in a way that Drake is incapable of. Drake talks a lot about heartbreak and betrayal -- both very real emotions that audiences' relate to, of course; but that hardly compares to the depths that Kendrick goes into. Drake doesn't illustrate to us the humiliations of poverty, for example; or the trauma of street violence or the inferiority complex and self-hatred a lot of people have and struggle with.
These two artists have double standards because one artist has dedicated multiple bodies of work talking about of the trials and tribulations of these experiences, and the other doesn't. And that's OK. I personally don't want Drake to speak on these things. I like Drake with the melodies, I don't like Drake when he acts tough.
I feel like a lot of the pro-Drake people who are populating these conversations are incapable (at least publicly) of seeing the world beyond themselves. Drake doesn't demand that of his audience, though. Again, that's perfectly fine. We as listeners shouldn't have to be subjected to pain and introspection every time we play something. But Kendrick doesn't do that in his music. He demands his listeners to employ empathy. He is constantly channeling the voices of people who didn't make it or voices who have been forgotten and overshadowed. This is a fundamental difference in these two artists' approach to the genre.
In the year 2024, we have nearly 15 years of music from these two. When one of them speaks, they're not strangers to us. We have become closely acquainted with aspects of their public personality. So yes, when Kendrick says something "small," we are going to look closely at it and examine it with a fine-pick because we have hundreds of hours of music that has shown us his habit packaging multiple layers into every little thing that he does. Drake has not shown us that.
Drake is someone who is aspirational while Kendrick is someone who is inspirational -- there's a difference.
