We have a purebred TWC (according to Embark), which was a big surprise. He’s a rescue and we thought he was a beagle mix and just happened to be large. He was returned to the rescue by his previous family and, while he is a good boy, we understand why.
We have a large backyard with a secure fence. He has a pit mix sister and they love to play and chase each other around.
Most of the time, he is ok. He sleeps a lot, gets active mid-late afternoon, and generally settles at dark. However, a few times a week (depending on the time of year and activity of critters), he absolutely loses his mind with barking at a scent outside. He’s inconsolable. I understand this is what they were bred to do and it isn’t his fault.
However… we’d love to not be the most hated house in the neighborhood, if possible. Is there anything we can do to reduce the frequency or duration of this? We’ve trying luring him in with treats, etc, but nothing seems to work. He just runs back and forth and screams.
A slightly separate issue is excitement barking when visitors come, where he barks loudly in people’s face. While he has “good intentions,” it is so dramatic that we avoid visitors. We have started practicing doing things like reaching for a rope toy and only throwing once he’s quiet, etc.
Ideas?

Hi, I ordered an outfit from Ole couture for my wedding on 11 th nov, still not received the outfit due to quality issues all the handwork was falling down. Supposed to be delivered on 15th oct, promised to make it custom made but sharara was 4 inches longer than my measurements. No remorse no acknowledgment from there part ans instead of understanding the concerns they were continuously justifying it, I was supposed to wear it for my pre wedding function but due to non delivery couldn’t wear it, gave them second chance but outfit still has quality issues, paid 35K balance left is 10k, I am in no mood to accept the outfit and the torture n mental pressure I have gone through is too much. I can’t wear this outfit anywhere and the horrible customer service is making it hard to pay the balance. I need ways to get a refund, they have denied for now. Please advise on how to proceed here🙏

I had this crazy idea to have a fish tank with feeder guppies and combine a vertical enclosure wrapped around it. (That way, my mantis buddy could go fishing if it was bored with eating bugs.) 2024.11.25 22:50 GameDesignerMan What's your favourite weird mechanic in video games?

To give you an example, I love it when an in-game character learns to play an instrument. I love hearing them make mistakes and slowly get better, along with the catharsis of the character finally nailing the performance. It gives me the same energy as that Looney Tunes bit where a character would literally rather explode than hear another botched performance of Those Endearing Young Charms.
To my knowledge there are only a few games that do this, the most recent example I can find is "Elin." It's just such a wonderful piece of sound design and it's always nice to have your proficiency in game reflected in a meaningful way.

My mom remarried in 2009 to what seemed to be the most wholesome and kind man. My sisters and I, already adults at this point, were happy that she found someone seemingly far opposite of our father and the toxic marriage she endured. About 5 years into their marriage, my mom and stepdad befriended a woman (let’s call her Kate) who was a single mom to two young daughters (8 and 10 years old at the time). They became very close over the years, and my mom and stepdad mentioned how the young girls were like daughters to them. The girls also viewed my stepdad as a father figure, and felt cared for and protected by him as they didn’t have a decent father of their own. Their biological father was in prison, so needless to say, they had a toxic upbringing and were looking for love and stability. Over the years my mom and stepdad helped Kate and girls with expenses and necessities as needed. In 2019, they needed a temporary place to stay, and my mom/stepdad invited them to live in their home until Kate could afford to move out. The two daughters were 17 and 19 at this point. My 18F cousin, who needed a place to stay while in school, was also was living there at the same time as Kate and her daughters. One evening while getting ready to shower, the 19 year old noticed a red light in the ceiling vent, which turned out to be a camera after closer inspection. My stepdad must have been watching the feed on his phone or computer because he immediately ran up the stairs and started pounding on the bathroom door. This poor girl was scared, crying, and locked herself in the bathroom to stay safe (she was home alone with my stepdad). She called her mother who immediately called the police. He was arrested that night but eventually only had probation and the incident removed from his record. Footage was only recovered for the 19F, so he could not be charged for the 17F and 18F (they all shared a bathroom). After the incident, my mother was immediately ready to divorce and leave him. Unfortunately, and for reasons I can’t understand, she fabricated excuses for his actions and truly believes a combination of medications led to him planting cameras. While he had not done anything to this extreme in the past to our knowledge, he did install spyware on my mom’s devices so he could read messages/interactions, so the behavior of spying isn’t new. This was just over 5 years ago, and my mom is still married to this man. My husband and I refuse to have anything to do with him. We have not been to my mother’s house, family events, or holidays in this time. It’s especially hard on me knowing that we are essentially the only ones not going and I feel like I am missing out on my family. My sisters have attended some events over the years, but they have not forgiven my stepdad and do not excuse his behavior in any way. Somehow the family even convinced my cousin that she was overacting, despite having PTSD and not able to shower with lights on for a year or so following this event, so she is now attending family functions again with my stepdad. In general, this family is filled with toxic behaviors and continue to excuse them. This is sadly not the first time a similar situation has happened. My sisters and I have tried everything to communicate how toxic the situation is, and how family members have no right to tell someone to ‘just get over’ a very traumatizing event because ‘life is too short’. I feel frustrated that my mom isn’t seeing the situation clearly and just wants everyone to forgive and forget. This was sexual assault towards someone they considered a daughter. We’ve even asked our mother how she would feel if it was one of us who was recorded, and her response was, ‘that’s different’. It shouldn’t be different… Who knows how much he has gotten away with and for how long? He could have footage of my cousin as well, or even my sisters and I through the years depending on how long this behavior has taken place. He said it was a one-time thing, but I refuse to believe that. There have been many red flags with some little quirks that my sisters and I have noticed now that we look back and reflect on the situation. I guess I just need reassurance that I’m not acting unreasonable. Has anyone experienced a similar situation?

2024.11.25 22:50 oomptz FXPAK Pro Super Gameboy save problems

Recently purchased a FXPAK Pro and have been enjoying some Gameboy games and it has been great and fun,
Randomly the SGB boot and rom files just disappeared and were replaced with some weird file I didn't recognize. SGB wouldn't load and config said the files were missing. Deleted the file and replaced bin/rom file and it started working again. However, none of my in-game save files work (not save states!). They are present in the sd2snes folder, but the SGB doesn't recognize them. Lost a 16 hour pokemon yellow save.
Any solutions? I tried to save a new game and then replace it with the old save file. Recognizes the New save but not the old save.

I currently have the 55g aquarium in my office. I purchased a new 75g aquarium and stand. I’d really like to put the new one where the old one is located. My dilema is how to move the existing 55g to the wall to the right, it’s about 6-7ft. I purchased this 55g and stand used and I’m worried about the stability of the old stand if I place floor sliders under it. I have one adult discus, full size (you can partially see the top of it behind the center decor), about a dozen cories and a pleco. I was thinking I could bucket the discus and lower the water level to a couple inches to reduce weight. The substrate is probably 150lbs, total estimate. Once I get the new tank cycled, I’ll move the fish and have other plans for the 55g. Has anyone attempted something like this or I am losing my mind eve considering?

FUD: Kaspa may be the best crypto from a technology perspective, but it has no adoption, while ETH and BTC are market leaders in their respective domains in crypto.
Response: Sure BTC is seen as the premier store of value and ETH has the most amount of adoption regarding smart contracts but Kaspa has several things going for it.

Kaspa had the best project launches in the history of crypto in the KRC-20 launch. It boasted over 15 million transactions in a single day, a record for all PoW coins. This proves several things, including the fact that adoption started with a bang. It also proves that Kaspa is the only crypto that can scale at the size of Eth and SOL while maintaining speed like Solana, security, and decentralization like Bitcoin.
Additionally Kaspa has an entire third party foundation completely dedicated to increasing adoption. Several projects are confirmed to be in planning/development including an energy stable coin called 'GigaWatt stable coin', 'Warpcore' a project that will enable cross boarder payments and asset tokenization (essentially stellar's XLM), 'KasUnion' which aims to modernize and tokenize the credit union market and more! This is all significant because we already have projects in development WHILE Kaspa's native smart contract platform is in development it's self. It simply proves how bullish developers already are on Kaspa and it developing ecosystem. Just image how many more projects will start to get built once smart contracts are successfully launched.
Finally, Kaspa was launched fairly with no preallocation, a fixed supply, and is far more transactional than Bitcoin. Even Kaspa doesn't develop intrinsic scarcity value in the short term like Bitcoin has over the previous years, Kaspa's usage in all of its projects (KRC-20, gigawatt coin, warpcore, etc.) will inevitably lead to an increase in value over the long term.
