I am dealing with being the custodial parent of a child that within the past three years has been court ordered to see her abusive father. He sought this visitation when my daughter was 11 to get back at me for speaking up and out about his abuse.. and for the past three years has been coercing her and threatening her and doing everything possible to cause her to fail with me resulting and now my poor little girl is not able to talk to me anymore or be in our home or come to me when I call her name eat for me wear the clothes that I buy her go to school for me she doesn’t talk to me at all other than to say ‘I can’t help this. This is not my fault. This is what I have to do in order to be able to cope with him’.. She spent the greater part of last year texting me from upstairs in our house, telling me how much she misses me, but she just can’t be with me.. she wants me to stop the visitation. I’m trying to do this but it’s hard.. because he’s threatening to harm us and he’s doing this to her so I’m working on trying to figure out how to address this with the court. In the meantime I’ve been dealing with her school counselor regularly and the mornings look like this ..if you’ve ever seen the movie, ‘What about Bob?’ ,.. its like the scene when Richard Dreyfuss is trying to wake up Bill Murray… and if I can wake her up, she just stonewalls me. She just shuts down entirely if I try to physically move her she becomes violent. I’ve had the best youth service crisis teams come here on the days that she doesn’t go to school and she explain to them that she’s tired or will give them some plausible excuse, but it’s chronic and I am just within the past few months, putting this all together and realizing that it has nothing to do with me or our night routine, she is just mentally programmed to go against me. I am just trying to find the words to explain this to her counselor and I thought she was getting it. There is a new assistant principal this year that I have not met and up until now have arranged with her counselor to act as a liaison for us updating her on the situation, but I wanted to send her an email to introduce myself to her and initiate contact with her and let her know what I was doing to try to resolve the situation my daughter has told me if she doesn’t have to see her father anymore she will be able to return to her life with me but the email that I have received from her I’d like to share because to me, it doesn’t seem like she’s getting it and I’m feeling a little pissed off… And am curious to know what others think of the response I got.. personally I feel like I’m being gaslit. I don’t find what she says. Makes sense at all.

I just got an HP Sprocket 2x3" and I have a couple of questions. The photo I want to print is slightly larger and I need to shrink it. Is there a better way than just a two finger adjustment? I can't seem to NOT tilt the picture and it is difficult to make it straight again. Also, the actual picture printed seems to be slightly more cropped than what is seen in app. Is there a way to get a better idea of what it'll actually look like? Is this just user error? Hello again! This is just a friendly discussion. I would love to hear everyone’s own personal take on Pearl.

Pearl is one of the most complex and emotional characters in Steven Universe. A lot of people see her as overly obsessive or even controlling at times, but that ignores the depth of her character and everything she’s been through. Pearl’s story is about devotion, heartbreak, and learning how to define herself outside of someone else. She wasn’t perfect, she made mistakes ( as everyone else of course ), but her actions always came from a place of love and loyalty, even when that love clouded her judgment.
I wanna start off by saying Pearl’s loyalty to Rose Quartz was a huge part of her character, but it was also one of her biggest flaws. She dedicated her entire existence to Rose, not just out of love, but because Rose gave her a purpose she never had before. As a Pearl, she was created to serve, to be someone else’s possession. Rose saw her as more than that, which completely changed her world. It’s easy to see why Pearl loved Rose so deeply, but that love also became her whole identity. She put Rose on a pedestal and followed her without question, even when it meant hiding the truth from others or doing things that hurt herself.
One of the most heartbreaking things about Pearl is how much she struggled with being honest about her feelings. She kept so many secrets, like the truth about Rose being Pink Diamond, and carried that weight alone because she thought it was her duty. Her loyalty to Rose made her feel like she had to protect Rose’s legacy at all costs, even if it meant lying to the Crystal Gems or hiding how much she was hurting. It wasn’t healthy, but it shows just how much Pearl believed in Rose and the rebellion.
At the same time, Pearl’s love for Rose wasn’t perfect or selfless. There were moments where her feelings for Rose made her act possessive or jealous, like when Greg came into the picture. Pearl clearly struggled with accepting that Rose could love someone else, and she often tried to undermine Greg or prove that her bond with Rose was more special. It wasn’t fair to Greg or Steven, but it also came from a place of deep insecurity. Pearl had spent so long defining herself through Rose that she didn’t know who she was without her.
But Pearl’s story isn’t just about her devotion to Rose, it’s about her growth after losing her. Rose’s absence forced Pearl to confront who she was outside of being Rose’s Pearl. She had to learn how to make her own choices, how to let go of the past, and how to move forward. Her relationship with Steven was a huge part of that. At first, she saw Steven as a reminder of everything she lost, but over time, she came to love him for who he was, not just as a connection to Rose.
What makes Pearl such a powerful character is how much she grows throughout the series. She starts off as someone defined by her loyalty and her past, but she slowly learns how to define herself. She becomes more independent, more open, and more willing to let others in. Her story is messy and emotional, but that’s what makes it so relatable. Pearl wasn’t perfect, but she was never meant to be. She was someone who loved deeply, made mistakes, and grew into a better version of herself. And that’s why she’s such an amazing character.

I am debating if I should add mods to my game. I typically am not opposed to mods, but at the same time, I feel like one should beat the game before mudding modding it to get a real feel for the core mechanics. I have tried many times to "beat" rimworld, and have always fallen short. Which lead me to the realization that it's not really a game you beat, but a playthrough you experience. So, will mods drastically change that experience. I just recently purchased biotech and have been very happy playing through that new content. So instead of mods do I just purchase the dlcs? Is the QOL mods I hear about game breaking? How long did you play before modding? Let's discuss!
