I used to go to eddies but they went downhill a long time ago (personal opinion) and I haven't tried any other locations. Any one of you have any spots you go to? Thanks in advance!

2024.11.26 00:30 slo412 A small rant?

I really don't have anywhere to put this aside from screaming at the sky. If you would be so kind as to indulge me I appreciate it.
I just read this article about how Orange Jesus didn't win a mandate. It actually made me a little crazy. It is such a bull crap Democrat way of looking at things. Like this man is going to respect the rules of a game that you made up in your head is childish. This man won the popular vote as a convicted felon, project 2025, his failed businesses, and his own God damn words right out there on front street. Then Democrats are going to trot out pat themselves on the back about taking the high road. The is a place for moral high ground but Democrats don't get to claim it.
If your going to cozy up to the economic elite and ignore the the needs of those of us who can't afford to buy your time, then there really isn't an opposition is there? Then your surprised when you can't muster the numbers for a vote. We don't need a edifice of moral superiority. We need someone who will fight to win. The right found their guy, who do we have?

2024.11.26 00:30 Artemis7181 Windows 10 no ssd E no hdd.

2024.11.26 00:30 Redlittlesexydevil The Rivalry Within the Quraysh: A Lesser-Known Pre-Islamic Story

Credit goes to this amazing Egyptian YouTuber called The Murtad Mazin for inspiring this post! While I don’t fully understand Egyptian dialect, a friend of mine helped me translate his fascinating series where he debunks misconceptions about the history of Islam using Islamic sources like Sahih Hadiths and the Sirat Nabawiya.
I know many of us here don't speak Arabic, so I thought I could summarize one of the most interesting narratives Mazin explores in his videos regarding certain suspicious facts about how Islam started that prove it was all a sham made up for personal gains.
Basically, before Muhammad was even born there was this known rivalry in Quraysh; it stemmed from a family feud that will feel eerily familiar for many of us here since majority of this sub come from ethnic households. Think of it like how some modern SWANA families, despite coming from the same grandparents, end up splitting into factions where one side dislikes the other—and children are raised with the same animosities.
The Quraysh tribe had two prominent clans at the heart of this conflict:

  1. Banu Hashim: This was the clan Muhammad belonged to. They were known for their nobility, because they took the role of custodians of the Kaaba, where idols representing the gods of pre-Islamic Arabia were kept. Their role as custodians granted them significant authority in religious and social affairs in Mecca.
  2. Banu Umayya: Wealthier and politically influential, the Banu Umayya were a powerful rival to the Banu Hashim. Their resources and connections gave them dominance in Mecca’s political sphere, and their rivalry with Banu Hashim often stirred tension within the Quraysh tribe.
Knowing this background, it’s fascinating to look at the early history of the first people who embraced Islam. You’ll notice that nearly 90% of the early believers were from his clan, or clans that were allied with Banu Hashim.
For example:
On the other hand, key figures from the Banu Umayya and their supporters were initially critical of Prophet Muhammad and were among the earliest and most vocal opponents of Islam. These figures included:
Sure, later many from these opposing clans, including Banu Umayya, eventually embraced Islam, but the question remains: Isn't it suspicious that Muhammad’s family not only produced a prophet, but that key early Islamic figures also happened to be from the Prophet’s side or from families that supported them?
We can even see this in a hadith narrated by Abu Talib, the Prophet’s uncle and one of his early protectors:
"Indeed, the family of Hashim (the Prophet's family) has produced a prophet, and so they are entitled to the titles and honor of being the best of the people. They are the ones who should have the title of 'Sahaba' (companions of the Prophet), as they are the closest and most honored of people."
Personally, I don't think this was all a coincidence. To me, this shows Islam initianally was a product of a political strategy by banu Hashim to challenge the dominance of Banu Umayya. So the whole BS story we were given that his enemies were bullying him for "no good reason" is just a lie. The hatred and conflict existed before he was even born. Besides, it's not like he did something unique. Before and during Muhammad's lifetime, there were several individuals and movements in the Arabian Peninsula and surrounding regions where people claimed to be prophets or received divine messages. This was not uncommon, in fact Muhammad addressed them before like Musaylima al-Kadhdhab who was a self-proclaimed prophet from Banu Hanifa in the Najd region of Arabia. Ang guess what? Many of these false claimants to prophethood arose due to political and tribal rivalries. Quraysh, particularly the Banu Umayya, initially resisted the Muhammad's message, and some figures who were part of this tribe, or had strong political interests, tried to undermine his claim by presenting themselves as alternative leaders. The claimants to prophethood often sought to assert political authority over the Arabian tribes. Musaylima and Tulayha in particular sought to build their power by rallying followers in opposition to Muhammad’s "new religion" (that was the name of Islam before it was called Islam).
Finally, it was always shoved down our throats that one of the reasons Allah sent his 3456745678th religion is to introduce the real concept of monotheism. Well, guess what? There was already a group in the region known as Muwahhidun (monotheists) who existed in pre-Islamic Arabia, and in fact Muhammad was taught by one of them. His name was Waraka ibn Nawfal, a Christian monk who played an important role in the early life of Muhammad. And guess what's his relation to Muhammad before he "suddenly" became a prophet? He was a cousin of Khadija, the first wife of Momo. The same woman who told Muhammad he was a prophet when initially he thought he was going insane after his alleged encounter with Jibril.
If you’re as curious about this topic as I am, I highly recommend checking out The Murtad’s videos. And to my fellow non-Arabic speakers—grab an Arabic-speaking friend to help translate!

2024.11.26 00:30 Aggressive_Sun6135 artcenter or parsons for product design

i know that artcenter is #1 for id and the best school with connections in the industry… i also live an hour away so artcenter is def my first choice and my parents want me to go there.
but the problem is that i want to live in nyc so so so so bad… im a type of person that likes exploring different places instead of staying in one place and i also prefer the city so much better than the suburbs. im just way too sick of california because i grew up here. idk if i’m fantasizing over nyc but when i went there before, i just fell in love. i used to live in the mains streets of seoul for awhile and i felt more alive when i lived in such busy streets.
i told my art director about how im interested in parsons cuz of nyc and east coast, but she said that there’s no reason for me to go there as an id major because it is a complete fashion school and now im devastated as hell.. she told me to change to a fashion major if im gonna go…
ig i’ll have to stick with artcenter… but what r u guys’ thoughts?

2024.11.26 00:30 Puzzleheaded4492 "benign lymph node in left breast" -- but strong family history of breast cancer

Sorry for being stupid, but how sure are they that the lymph node is benign? Does it look different on mammogram?
Is it normal to have a lymph node in the breast? (If so, why was it mentioned?)
I'm sorry, I just want to make sure. I know how unlikely breast cancer is since I'm in my 30s, but my sister, also in her 30s, has stage 3 breast cancer. My mom had two different kinds of breast cancer, one in her 40s and one in her 50s, as well as a liver cancer in her 60s. My mom's sister died of breast cancer when I was a kid. They tested negative for the breast cancer gene.
I got a mammogram last year because of my family history, my GP said it was a good idea, but the radiologist wrote on his report that I don't need another mammogram for at least five years. So I want to make sure that the lymph node thing really is benign.
I'm 30s, female. The side of my left breast has been itching but I'm assuming that's related to my cycle or sweat or something.

2024.11.26 00:30 Sufficient_Object281 For all its supposed faults, Quest 3 has opened my eyes to new possibilities in gaming

Sounds almost cliche at this point but I want to chime in regardless.
I started getting interested in VR a long while ago, I think around the time I was finishing college as a poor student. It was so interesting when I got to play at a convention we had at campus about it, and the first game they gave me was nothing more or less than Alyx. Little did I know that even now, that game that basically set the benchmark that hasn’t moved a whole lot despite other games making big strides with specific mechanics. That first taste of Alyx, tho? The interactivity and and responsiveness to my every move were staggering. I don’t think I ever experienced something like that before, and the cool part was that it wasn’t some super unique mechanic. It was the whole feeling of being in the game.
Fast forward some years later and I finally cashed out for my own headset and I’m having such time like you wouldn’t believe. Sadly no Alyx cuz I’m poor and just own the standalone Meta Quest 3 headset but just it alone is so fun that I don’t feel the need to upgrade further yet. That seem immersive feeling of being “there” is present in basically everything I tried so far. From Hellspit Arena, which was a bit scary at first (yah, I’m easily scared) ended up being my new stress ball after work. I also tried the free Vail version and actually had loads of fun just in that social Citadel hub fooling around with people and chatting, before I bought the full version. Then I also got into Synth Riders, maybe the first rhythm-music game that made me play until my battery was almost dead.
Another point I didn’t think about was the ability to watch movies in VR and that was like an added bonus on top of the main gaming experience I was after. Even in digital desktop, it’s just sooo much easier to create that good atmosphere depending on what you wanna watch. I just finished the last season of True Detective this way and ti was better than any of those 3D theatre bullshittings that were all the rage when I was a teen. Long and short of it, getting the headset has opened my eyes not just to new gaming possibilities (a new kind of gaming rly) but a whole new way to approach entertainment media. I’m very happy lol
