Hello all,
In my 2d game I have an enemy that fires bullets along a path that predicts where the player will be based on the player's position and velocity. This is working fine.
The algorithm results in two fire vectors, one with a lower angle and one with a higher. My code opts for the lower angle right now.
What I would like to do is check to see if the lower path will collide with world colliders before the player, and if so, switch to the higher path for the the trajectory of the bullet, and have it be as efficient as possible.
One option I have though of would be having an edge collider that approximates the parobolic path and check for collisions against that, and I think I could use the x coordinate of the collisions and the fire direction to determine if the player or world geometry would be hit first with multiple collisions
Another is to do ray casts along an approximated parabola until either the player or world colliders are hit, which would give me the time value for the case of multiple colliders
Is there a better way to do this? Do either of them intrinsically seem more performant than the other? Idk the efficiency difference between an edge collider and a ray cast

I yap a lot, TLDR at the end if you wouldn't like to read all this. This post is basically just the title question but with additional detail that nobody requested.
I really like the idea of Discord forums from an organizational standpoint. I'm in a lot of literate roleplay / writing servers that have dozens of channels that go completely unused on a regular basis, it's annoying to look at. With forums, people can create their own posts that everyone can access, but not everyone gets notifications for every message sent or has to look at tons of old or inactive posts.
I could ramble on about how I like that sort of system, but there's also a major issue that prevents me from using them the way I'd like to. When someone creates a forum post, THEY are the only person shown in the member list on the side, nobody else can join without getting pinged or sending a message. This is abhorrent from a moderation standpoint, I've tested it myself and unless the bot is pinged to be added to the forum, there are no message logs for deleted or edited messages.
I like the fact that the "channels" for the posts on the side disappear after inactivity inside them, too; a lack of messages needs no moderation. While they ARE active, though, staff SHOULD see them, be able to moderate, and bots should also see them so they can log actions. All of this would be fixed if Discord simply added a setting to make selected roles automatically be a part of forum posts (threads would be nice, too, those are also a moderation hassle) but I digress.
I've looked around and I've found nothing easily understandable for someone like me that has a rough time with new bot implementation. I can follow tutorials and pick things up fairly easily, there's just no tutorials or instructions for something like this, well-moderated spaces have simply given up on forums.
I'd rather not get a ping every time someone creates a forum, I'd only like to be able to easily see / access them without digging through the forum itself. I've found that you can actually edit a message to ping someone (this does not send a ping notification) and that still adds them to the thread. Best case scenario, I'd find a bot that can auto-send a message whenever a member creates a post and THEN be able to edit that message to ping the bot role (so all bots have access) and the moderation / staff role (so all moderators can view / moderate the posts) without sending constant notification dinging.
However, I'm genuinely uncertain if that's possible, I'd settle with no complaints for a plain auto-message could be used to ping roles so that the appropriate people / bots have immediate access to the posts.
TLDR: Does anyone know a bot that can auto-message forum posts (and / or auto-edit that message right after) as soon as a server member creates a new one?

Im looking to build a kids gym in my basement and put some monkey bars and maybe a swing in there. Im wondering if attaching them directly to the i-joists is ok, or should I run a 2x4 across them laterally, then fasten the monkey bars and swing to that? I imagine some adult might also decide to hang off it at some point.
I just don’t know how strong a single i-joist is for hanging things, and i don’t want the bottom flange to rip off.

Given that McKinsey invites are finally out, I would like to setup a thread to have a post-mortem on how people felt the recruiting journey went for them and any thoughts on what this year's results mean about consulting, Mckinsey, the job market, the economy etc. Feel free to rant and offer conspiracy theories as well.
I'll start:
School: T15 Consulting Focused
Office: Philadelphia
Journey: I felt pretty good generally about the journey. I had reached out to a couple of people at my target office. McK had switched up OCRs on us a couple of times so something felt really off for them the whole recruiting season. After I had applied, someone from their target office had reached out to me for a coffee chat so I though I stood a pretty good chance but it looks like no one from my school good an interview from this office among various others.
Impact: Once other companies come out with invites I'll be more confident in my analysis of the industry. I have an invite with another consulting firm(non-MBB) so I don't think it is all doom and gloom yet. It is very possible that McKinsey may just be dying(especially post John Oliver). I know at the previous fortune 100 company I worked for, they no longer get our business because they are too expensive and the work quality is frankly garbage. From the second years I talked to who interned there last summer, it appears start dates are already beginning to be pushed out and there have been some candid conversations about layoffs. The job market definitely feels tighter than the headline numbers seem to indicate.

I’ve met a girl who claims that she’s Russian but I think she’s lying. Recently I met a girl on ig, she was really nice to me and all. She told me she’s from Moscow and when I asked her about the school days she said “oh, hmm my classes start at 8:30, usually end at 18:30, that's how it is..” but I’ve searched everywhere and can’t find a single thing about Russian school days being 10 hours long (She’s in 9th grade and same age as me). My doubts are starting to increase because she said she’s leaving for school but then texted me at 10:27am. I js wanna know if she’s lying or not because I’ve been manipulated by 2 other girls in the past and not to mention her behaviour is pretty suspicious. She watches all the reels I send her and she also sent me her pictures, but I refuse to believe someone that beautiful could have a heart like that.
