2024.11.26 01:47 CoasterRider_ [Nagashima Spa Land] Thoughts For Visitors
I just finished two days at Nagashima Spa Land and figured I would give some tips for those who may want to visit. This won't be a trip report, just some thoughts for others.
1) Getting there Getting to Nagashima Spa Land is less intimidating than it seems. I took the Shinkansen from Kyoto to Nagoya but you could take the Shinkansen from Osaka or Tokyo easily arriving at the same station. From there, we took a local train to Kuwana, which is about 25 minute ride depending on whether you get on an express or local train. Once you arrive in Kuwana, you can take a bus to the outlets next to Nagashima Spa Land or a 20 minute taxi. We opted for a taxi for less than 4000 JPY (~26.00 USD) since we had luggage.
2) Ride operations Lines move slowly but it isn't the fault of the ride operators or the guests, it is due to the park's playbooks on how to operate each attraction. You will need to place any and all loose articles in free lockers at each attraction and you will be wanded to verify you do not have anything in your pockets on all the major attractions. Depending on the attraction, this happens before you line up for your row or right before boarding.
The grouper will assign seats and will not give you the option to pick your seat. We let people go on front of us many times so that we could ride in the front or back, which was frowned upon by the grouper.
The Japanese are very big on safety, not just at Nagashima but at other parks as well. Expect stretches before boarding some attractions as well as reminders on now to ride safely. They show you signs while waiting for the next train to arrive in the station as well as after boarding. This slows down boarding significantly.
Rides that have cubbies instead of lockers require all riders to collect their belongings before anyone can leave the station.
3) Priority pass The park offers timed priority boarding for Steel Dragon 2000, Hakugei, Acrobat and Arashi. You purchase the tickets from vending machines across from each attraction using cash (no credit cards accepted). They were 1000 JPY (~6.50 USD) on the days I was at the park. I think the passes can sell out but I don't have confirmation of that.
4) Other thoughts The park closes at 5 pm much of the year and rides close before closing time based on line waits.
The most popular attraction in the park is Steel Dragon 2000. The rides with the longest waits are Steel Dragon 2000, Acrobat and Arashi. The latter two have long lines due the nature of the rides, not necessarily their popularity.
Steel Dragon 2000 closes for 30 minutes of maintenance at 2 pm each day. They close the line ahead of the closing so that the inspection can start on time.
Steel Dragon 2000 will only operate with low to no winds. The current wind speed at the top and bottom of the ride is listed at the front of the ride.
If Steel Dragon closes for wind, the lines for other rides grow quite a bit.
For some reason, Nagashima Spa Land removed the grips on the RMC trains on Hakugei and they ask that you hold on to the lap bar with your hands crossed. They don't want you raising your hands on the coaster (which may be why they removed the single grip on each lap bar) but many people still raised their hands.
We visited on a Sunday and Monday and found crowds on Sunday to only be marginally worse than Monday. That said, some rides that were open on Sunday were closed on Monday. Plan accordingly if you want to get on every single roller coaster.
Front gate, the two gift shops and the larger restaurants accept credit card but vending machines for ride tickets and priority passes or beverages as well as smaller food locations are cash only.

First hand experience here, bought some tokens, called "Tics", everything looks kinda legit for a start up I have it the benefit of the doubt but the more I looked into it the scammier it got, I then went on the telegram chat and someobe from the team was willing to help me connect my wallet which I created a trust wallet to get my Tics transferred once the launch mainnet. He was trying to convince me to transfer all my coins to that wallet to verify the Dapps, and then asked me how much Bitcoin I have. By this point I was thinking this guy cant be trusted but I transferred some dogecoin to that wallet and did the Dapp thing. At first nothing out of the ordinary but today I just got a notification that I transferred all my dogecoins to a wallet. I knew something was up and that right there is the proof. Stay away from Qubetics unless you like throwing your money away.

 | I was recently introduced to Max through a class I'm currently in, and I need to use it for the last project in that class. I'm trying to create a sound grinder (Essentially, something that takes in a sound file, then screws it up as much as humanly possible) that can take in several files at once. I was thinking about taking a playlist object, somehow doing some stuff to make it capable of playing its entire gallery simultaneously, and giving each individual song its own settings (I hope to include a bunch of objects that can mess with the sound). Hi. I'm a 14 year old female who has had vaginal problems for 3.5 years. I have gone to several doctors, but they have not come to a conclusion yet. I know I can't trust advice from the internet, but I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas of what this could be. I have gotten many ultrasound and an mri plus blood and urine tests and labia swabs but they only showed a small ovarian cyst. My symtoms occurred suddenly when I was 11. I have experienced, internal vaginal pain, pressure as if something deep inside it is being pinched ir like I have a constant vaginal wedgie, an eyeball like mass in my posterior fornix, and the backside of my cervix hurts. Also, when I sit on my foot and push forward, there us an audible popping/ thunking noise from deep inside that's painful My biggest fear is cancer. I have an internal exam under anesthesia in January and am trying physical therapy a week before then. Please help. Oh and I'm not sexually active and have never ha a period yet or been sexually abused. I'm 100lbs, 5 foot 3 and kind of skinny. My parents know and take good care of me but I feel hopeless. Please help

Is there a way for me to tell my mother my kids aren't allowed at her house until my brother (almost 40) does not live there without making her feel like she is choosing between her kids? He is mentally unstable and I actually have been no contact for about a year. I fear my children will witness one of his episodes while there. I don't think I fear their physical safety but you never know, when someone is in that state. My mom enables his behavior by always allowing him to live there. She has had 2 friends who kicked children out, and they ended up dying so she fears the same for him. My mother is allowed to see the kids, she's welcomed to watch them at my house 2 hours away and stay here, she knows this. My brother recently text me the first time in a year, talking about how crazy my mom is and he's scared my kids will see it. I know my brother is vindictive and purposely would try to drive my mom over the edge while my kids are there prove his point. I actually think he text me what he did to punish my mother, knowing I would finally put my foot down. He put me through so much trauma growing up. I've always had to put my feelings aside because im the strong kid who can handle her self. I'm sick of it, I'm tired of his mental health being prioritize over mine. I've struggled too, I resent our parents too, I lived the same shitty childhood he did. Only difference is he didn't have an abusive older brother and I took control of my own future. I really don't want my mom to feel like she is choosing though. I look at my baby boy and get flooded with such emotions at the thought of him "putting me through" what my brother did to my mother. How fucking heart breaking it must be. I in my heart believe my brother will kill himself one day. I feel horrible for thinking it, and I'm scared if I do speak up and he does I'll feel responsible even though I wouldn't be. I'm so jealous of my husband's relationship with his siblings and ashamed of mine. I can't stand running into people and them asking me how he's doing. I already feel overwhelmed in my life right now, his message is just starting my spiral.

From this lesson we can see that it is better to acknowledge a problem and try to stop it - to be vigilant with our bodies and minds, so as not to be corrupted by our own negligence. Choosing to ignore a problem, to bury it under a shameful veil, only leads to the problem growing, and to ultimately conquering us, making us into monsters our past selves wouldn't recognize.
Politics is like this also. Especially in a democracy on life-support. If you feel like not engaging, in checking out and trying to ignore that the room is on fire, then you are simply adding to the kindling and making yourself over in the monstrous image of the dystopia you live in.

My great-grandma was a patient at Chicago Municipal Tuberculosis Sanitarium (not necessarily when this picture was taken), but I couldn't match that to historic aerials either.
