I feel like someone I've stupidly had a crush on for a few months likes me too. We are part of a weekly event for a shared hobby. We've seen each other almost every week all those months and lately a few times in group settings between those days. The reason I think he likes me is because we have always complemented each other a lot, just generally have smiled and laughed with each other, always stay after late at the events, with one or a few other people joining but we are the common denominator even when those people have changed (could be he just likes to linger at things and I sort of do + like him.) Some times when we have more extended or pleasant one on one interactions I can sense him being happy afterward, as if he wanted to talk to me and his longing was fulfilled, like for me, whether I hate it or not.
However, there have been times where I also felt maybe he never liked me, just times of when we didn't get conversations with good chemistry or his facial expressions seemed disapproving or distracted... Those times, if sudden or cold-seeming, can be heartbreaking, like I was lied to and maybe he's not the best person. If not sudden, I can try to think, whatever I guess I was wrong, maybe ugly, or maybe he's not a great person like I thought. I'll just go on a dating app and find someone else.
He always, especially lately, suggests he wants to do things, related to the hobby or something we were all talking about but they're things the group would probably end up doing, and one time enthusiastically agreed to carve out time in his busy day to meet up and do this activity with just me for a bit but our plans changed to not one on one 'cause a friend ended up being there.
The biggest thing, and the reason I'm asking, is that he's not a great texter. He doesn't text first except once to share something, and he texts nicely back when I have needed to or found excuses to text him but sometimes doesn't do extra stupid things like validation when the text doesn't necessarily require it. I'm a big texter and that kind of BS has the potential to really improve connections. But I live alone and I'm pretty devoid of close friendships and connections often for the last year and haven't dated anyone in a yearr, and if I like someone I just want to like get somewhere* with them, like cuddle or something. I usually find someone like that on apps and I should mention I'm probably polyamorous, but I feel unfair starting something with someone while having an undated crush and also like it could compromise things with the crush (which I know is extremely dumb.)
So, how patient should you be with a crush who might like you but is not a good texter and might be shy to ask people out? How many months lol, before you give up. Or, are you just reading a friendzone vibe from what I described and this isn't even a question because I'm wearing insecure attachment style -colored glasses where I see a cake but in front of me are just crumbs...

Hi there, please excuse me if my questions have been answered -- I have searched this subforum, but I can't find answers close enough.
TL; DR: Is my laptop possessed.... or am I paranoid?
Owned Macs since 2009. My issues are with my current laptop, a M1 MBP.

  1. SPECS: 13.3" MBP, M1 (2020), 8gb/512 (345 currently available).
  2. Most intense usage: Probably Photoshop, and when it is in use, quite literally absolutely nothing else is open. Also used heavily for Acrobat Pro, Canva, WordPress, HR Consulting business (i.e. Office Suite-- Teams incl. + Zoom meetings -- so many), etc.
  3. App usage: Do not use many native Apple Apps other than Pages. Browser: generally use Safari, had to start using Chrome due to website compatibility. Deleted most all of what I view as "nonsense" off, and have not downloaded much of anything -- I like to keep it streamlined. I
  4. File storage: I have 3 folders on my desktop, otherwise everything is organized and folder-ed through those three, saved on my iCloud, or off-loaded elsewhere. I keep backups in duplicate for all Apple devices I own, incl. an iCloud copy. Burned too many times. Biggest HD suck are my 14k photos in Photos.
  5. Previous Issues: This little gadget has been a problem maker for at least a year now. First ever Apple device that I have had (family = 27 devices, I am responsible for troubleshooting/maintaining all) that has been a problem. Under Apple Care, took it in to an authorized dealer. They replaced my keyboard in late 2022 and replaced a USB-C port. Under Apple Care in early/mid 2023, took it to Apple Store for quick glance at "small issue" -- ended up being sent off to the great beyond where it was suppose to be put to pasture. Instead, sent back with "problems not identified" -- hysterical because one of the issues was a flat out loose USB-C port (the other one), which was verified by both the Apple associate in-store AND the Genius Bar. Apple-Far-Away DID replace trackpad, and keyboard (again), and also "noted" it was in agreement with Genius Bar that wi-fi did not have "consistent, established connection," but was "within bounds." Did fix screen imprinting issues. Fixed screen tint issues. Noted battery degradation was "within bounds" but was near top end. Returned laptop.
  6. Current Issues.
Assume: everything is updated per standard, except I am working in Sequoia 14.6.1 because I am terrified to do anything with this thing right now. Assume when programs freeze, I dive deep into Program troubleshooting forums. Presume I am obsessive about keeping my laptop in good condition & highly functional.
-- Browser is freezing. Every single time I open Safari or Chrome, even if I have absolutely every other program or thing completely shut down on the computer, I get the little bar inside the browser window telling me the app is sucking up a tremendous amount of memory, and then... It freezes. This happens about 80-85% of the time I am trying to use the internet. Genius Bar said that happens w/too many sites, videos, tabs, etc. Okay, but usually it's when I have 1-2 tabs open and they are Gmail and either a professional website (i.e. text only) or something like 1 Amazon tab. I clear browser history daily, cookies etc daily. The browsers are completely clean.
-- Photos is freezing, Photoshop is freezing. I can't even use Photos anymore. I try to edit ONE photo and it freezes. Same as above, everything else is completely closed out. I want to be clear-- when I say closed-- I don't mean dots under the apps on the dock-- I mean literally quit and shutdown. If I try to edit a photo, or I try to scroll through more than about 12-20, boom, Photos is done. Sometimes I can restart computer & try again. Sometimes it's done for the day. Depends on its attitude. Photoshop-- even up-to-date, it rarely can make it 10 minutes before it is done. Cannot use any Adobe products in the cloud-- they all drop dead within minutes. Reboot and... nothing. Crap out. You could say it's my 14k or so Photos, but I did try offloading them for a while, and it quite literally didn't do a thing.
--You freeze, I freeze, everything freezes! Sometimes, a random small program will freeze (Notes, etc) and then I literally cannot even force quit the stupid thing, nor restart it. I have to let it cool itself off (not literally-- it never gets even warm) for about 20-30 min, then restart it. This just seems... odd?
--Downloads disappear, get stuck, get lost, format oddly... When I download things, they quite literally disappear. I mean I search all the way into the deep darkness and they quite literally... are not there. I check the actual download link at the top of Safari and you click it and it clicks on the file there and then... it does nothing else. It is absolutely a trip. Sometimes, it claims it downloaded and it downloads 57 bytes. Bytes. The last time I played in bytes was when we were sending AIM notes around. Geez. Yes, the d/l files are able and proper to be downloaded-- my iPad is grooving with them just fine. Sometimes if they do download they download into entirely different files, which is fascinating, but not. I had a Word file the other day turn itself into a .jpg right after I downloaded 3 other Word docs from the same site. Youngest child syndrome? Probable.
  1. Already tried solutions. A lot of people have peeked at this laptop, and the general consensus (Genius Bar and Store Associate incl.) is that I got "a lemon." But one would think if that was the case, I'd know before 2 years in, right? So I think in fact, it's something else, and my guess is that I simply do not have enough RAM in this little guy to be able to work. But what's weird is that with, say, 10 programs open, I will be at 35% capacity one minute, 100% the next, 25% the next, and I am not remotely touching any of them. "Oh, well go check what's running in the background." Absolutely nothing. Also? Nothing coming on at startup. No little shadow casters hanging out.
  2. Simple answers are perfect!!
If you have a simple idea or answer-- that is fantastic. I am fully open to everyone voting that this is a possessed laptop. Or voting I am a fully incompetent user. Whatever it takes for me to understand how to use this thing (OR NOT). Because at this point... I just can't anymore.

I brought my cat in to the vet because I noticed occasional soft stools, her sudden disdain for her kibble that she used to pounce on immediately and her noticeable weight loss. She was at a steady 11lbs most her life and now is 8.6lbs. When I brought her in they did a senior panel and told me she was at an 8. Something and has hyperthyroidism. On to meds 2x a day. At this point I switched to almost exclusively wet food so I could drop the medication into it. About 12 days into the new wet food and meds things seemed ok and then she suddenly started vomiting. And I mean non stop every 15 mins for 5 hours. Finally it stopped and I just prayed it was a fluke. The next night she started vomiting again starting at 1:00am and it kept going. She couldn’t even keep down water so by 9:00am we were on our way to the ER. She spent the night in the ER for monitoring and she was fasted almost the whole time for X-rays and fluids. They saw a gas bubble in a weird place but eventually it went away. They sent me home with sucralfate to coat her stomach for 5 days before eating but that was it. She has thrown up 1x each day home at least one whole meal. Today it was 2x. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Weirdly she has taken a liking to her kibble again out of no where. I am so confused at this point and so sick of cleaning up vomit. After some researching I found that IBS can have similar if not exactly the symptoms my cat had prior to taking her in. The vomiting is still here. Stools look ok. I am lost but wondering if I look into changing her diet and getting some probiotics etc. has anyone had any experience with this? I need help and my poor girl can’t afford to keep losing weight like this!
