Da ja hier eine recht apokalyptische Stimmung herrscht, wollte ich auch mal eine positiven Beitrag schreiben, der nicht nur aus Doomertum besteht.
Ich habe im Februar / März beschlossen meine Promotion im Bereich Neuroscience an den Nagel zu hängen (fick den Wissenschaftsbetrieb) und habe daher Stellen als Softwareentwickler in meiner Region gesucht. Mein Skillset bestand aus grundlegenden Fähigkeiten in C++, Python, Git, Linux und Microcontrollern, ich bin aber auch jemand der gerne Probleme löst und eine sehr hohe Frustrationstoleranz hat. Ich hatte wirklich kaum Ansprüche, mein Gehaltswunsch lag bei 40k und ich habe mich auf alles mögliche beworben, ich glaube insgesamt waren es 30 Bewerbungen.
Ich habe zwei Angebote bekommen (Embedded SE und Softwaretester), und habe mich am Ende für die Stelle als Embedded SE entschieden, die auch noch Full Remote war und mir sogar mehr als mein Gehaltswunsch geboten hat. Abgesehen davon finde ich low-level Sachen einfach sehr geil.
Ich bin überwiegend ziemlich glücklich mit der Stelle, mag die Nische und finds geil täglich neue Sachen zu lernen, so wie mich privat auch noch weiter darin zu bilden. Mein Plan sieht so aus, die nächsten 2 Jahre ranzuklotzen, viel Erfahrung zu sammeln und Wissenslücken aufgrund des fehlenden Info-Studiums zu schließen. Danach evtl. dann weiter spezialisieren.

Gleich vorne weg: Ja die Rentenlücke existiert und ja es wird Reformen des Systems geben (müssen).
ABER: Viele hier scheinen die Meinung zu haben, dass jeder Beitrag in die Gesetzliche verschwendet ist und man besser alles ausgibt da alle Grundsicherung erhalten werden.
Diese Sorge macht aus meiner Sicht keinen Sinn. Die Rentenbeiträge welche (laut Rentenauskunft) garantiert sind werden wir lebenslang mindestens erhalten egal was passiert. Vermutlich auch mit Inflationsausgleich. Deutschland hat eine der höchsten Kreditwürdigkeiten und nutzt dies an einigen Stellen. Wenn der Staat dieser Verpflichtung seinen Bürgern gegenüber nicht mehr nachkommt hätten wir gewaltig andere Probleme.
Zusätzlich finde ich es interessant wie viele gerade in dieser Bubble hier davon ausgehen Grundsicherung zu erhalten während Depots gepostet werden die deutlich über dem Median liegen.

hi! we're biconalas and manila newbies (2 weeks pa lang kami nagwowork sa makati.) we parked sa may labas ng makati med (may sign na pay parking) before shift namin which is 5am.
pag dating namin, walang bantay so we expected na kapag kukunin na yung motor, saka lang magbabayad. since wala kaming napagtanungan, pumasok na kami sa site. then nung 10am na, bumaba kami to check on our motor and magbabayad na rin sana kami ng parking. however, pag baba namin, na-wheel clamp na.
pinagbayad kami ng ₱1,000 para matanggal yung wheel clamp and ₱120 para dun sa parking.
nagtaka kami bakit na-clamp yung motor kahit maayos naman yung pagkakapark.
inexplain samin nung enforcer na kapag daw kasi 7am na, dapat nakapagbayad na. mali namin kasi di namin binasang maayos yung signage pero di naman nakalagay na kapag lagpas nang 7am na di ka pa nakakapagbayad ng parking, macclamp na.
bukod sa ₱1000 na binayaran namin, magbabayad pa kami sa makati city hall ng another ₱2,000.
ang question ko lang po is, kapag ba nag file kami ng written protest/complaint, possible ba na manalo kami?

A few months back I managed to leave the fridge door open overnight (on one of those tropical nights) and woke up to find everything warm, including my brand new KwikPen. (The fridge thermometer showed well above the 2°- 8°C requirement.) I was extremely lucky that I knew I'd be able to use the pen within the next 30 days, but all the food was perished.
The home contents insurance policy shows we have cover for up to £500 on food in the fridge/freezer but obviously there's nothing specified re medication. And there's the excesses of course to factor in whether it would be worth claiming. We didn't have anything like that amount in the fridge so didn't bother.
But I was thinking what if the fridge freezer had been full of Xmas goodies and a stockpile of pens!!! That could be way over £500 (especially the higher doses) and I'm not sure the insurance company would cover the meds unless I asked for specific cover. I've done a bit of Googling but can't find anything re meds - could be down to ringing each company to find out and no doubt paying more premium for more cover!
I'd be really interested to hear from anyone who may have medication they keep refrigerated insulin/IVF etc re contents insurance policies etc. Or anyone who has had to claim for this. In my situation I was entirely at fault for not closing the door, rather than it being a fault with the fridge, so might not even have been covered for the food! I'm totally obsessed with checking the door is closed, now I have two pens in there!!

Would Tavern Brawler monks benefit from investment into fighter, at least to get armour and shields?
If I'm already pumping STR and need decent CON for a frontliner, and want decent DEX for initiative, I am quite attribute starved, so investing into high wisdom might be pretty hard.
What exactly do I lose by going heavy armour and shield route? I know that I lose AC bonus from WIS and I lose extra movement (which will be partially offset by being able to jump into combat due to high STR, right?). And would it be better to stick to single class then and use Lae'zel for her medium armour and shield?

My friend is a NEET. We met in college (uk, college is different to uni it is somewhat an extension of high school) I studied hard and tried my best to help him. When I met him he couldn’t even tie his shoes. I pushed him to study for his qualifications and get his GCSEs. He’d go into lessons always screaming about how Steve Jobs was dead cos it made people laughed. (idk) He failed his Maths 3 times, despite me finding him extra help outside of lessons. (which he never turned up to) He liked to blame the teacher but it wasn’t the teacher he just didn’t try. He said he’d like to do music so I took him to talk to the music teacher to ask if there were any groups he could join. There were but he when offered the chance he didn’t want to do it. Eventually I got my grades and I have now got a Uni degree. My friend just plays games 24/7, he doesn’t even leave the house, ever. His mum is not helpful at all because she gives into his wants and pays for all these newest graphics cards and games. I try to get him to come hang out with me but he just complains he wants to go home and play games. He has a successful twitter account about gaming (42k followers) and tells me I have no idea what it’s like because I don’t have an audience that needs me. He also constantly tells me how he doesn’t deserve the life he leads and how did he get so lucky. He thinks the usual way of living is not right. He doesn’t cook or clean, his mum does it all. She even makes doctors appointments for him. He says his body aches, I tell him he needs to eat healthy and go outside sometimes. He refuses to listen to anything I say and since leaving college he has viewed me as some evil nagging being. I told him that maybe therapy would be beneficial for him. He said sure he’d give it a try. He asked me to fill out the forms for him. I tried to push him to do it himself but he wouldn’t. So I did it. He went to therapy and he didn’t even tell her the truth he lied to her. Then she sent him sheets that he was supposed to fill out. He said it was too much hard work and stopped doing it. Ever since then i’ve been trying to push him to lead a more independent lifestyle because I worry about his future when his mum dies. Lately he has viewed me as ‘evil and mean’. He compares me to his online friends who never ever ask anything of him and just let him play games. Two days ago he told me he wanted me out of his life. He wants to play games and do nothing else and he wants me gone. I haven’t spoken to him since. I accept his wishes. I just feel sad. At times I did feel like a mum to him but our friendship was 8 years long and no matter how hard I tried I never succeeded in helping him and now he no longer likes me or wants to be friends. I feel exhausted and quite depressed. I know you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped but I never expected him to end the friendship. I guess i’m just looking for a place to vent.
