2024.11.26 11:25 kittensposies Update to wonky nib post
 | Last week I wrote about a wonky nib on a vintage Parker slim fold pen. Several people gave me extremely helpful advice, that I took, and have made some progress! I actually managed to get the nib and feed out by soaking in warm water a couple of hours, topping it up so it didn’t get cold. The amount of gunk that came out 😱 The feed was intact, but it looked like it and the nib and been forced in - judging by the bend in the nib, it had been dropped point-down and buckled a bit. The nib is extremely soft, so I managed to flatten out the worst of the bump just by pressing it between my fingers (pic 3 - it now has a straight profile instead of a hump), but the tines still don’t look right (pic 2). I’ve put it back together for now and it does write much better; I have to pay attention to how much pressure I’m using but it’s pretty smooth most of the time! I think I’ll just keep an eye out for nibs on eBay and replace this one; there seems to be a fairly regular flow of spares-or-repairs slimfold pens that would probably get me a cheaper nib than sending it off to be serviced. But then again… ach I don’t know. I’ll use it as it is for now - it’s a great purse pen! - and see how my bank balance feels after Christmas! Thanks again - this really is a wonderful group! I'm knitting the tolsta tank by Creabea in the first size. It's knit bottom up, I've knit the body and am now splitting for back and front. The pattern asked for 4 stitches to be cast on at each side then for 66 stitches to rest while working back and forward on either front or back remaining 66 stitches. My question is what happens to the 8 additional stitches I just cast on? Do they rest too? What am I missing?!?
I hope it's ok to post a screenshot of the pattern, I'm just not very good at explaining these things. As a one WIP at a time knitter, I'm feeling frazzled being so stuck with nothing to work on 🫠🤢😵💫

I am a student from India and am looking at UoB, Dubai for my Masters. I want to do MSc in Financial Management. Anyone doing this course at UoB, Dubai??
I feel it’s the best of both worlds, I get a degree from a UK uni and also have a better opportunity at getting a job in Dubai with a good enough lifestyle.
Also wanted to know: 1. How is the campus life like? 2. Are there any placements from college and if yes then are they good? 3. What is the faculty like? 4. Was this a good decision?
Ps: I have been told that American University of Sharjah is equally good if not better. Is it true? What would you suggest.
