The rig is very very sturdy and with some few modifications now I don't have any needs to upgrade to a proper aluminium simrig. (21 y/o) A little backstory, I started this year with about $11,000 in credit card debt across five cards and was doing a great job paying it down. I had it all down to $6,000 at the end of September and things were looking up. Then my hours got cut at work, drastically, and long story short, I'm back up to almost where I started.
The biggest problem is that I'm also about to move out of my current apartment because my lease is up and my landlord is moving her friend into the apartment. This new place is substantially more expensive than where I was before, but it's also the cheapest place I could find around my area. It's $1,050 per month not including utilities. My car is paid off but needs repairs soon, so I'm also worried about the expenses associated with that. Insurance is about $1,200 every six months and repairs are going to be about $3,000.
I am in a dual-income household with my husband and he makes about $650 a week but I don't want all of the financial stress on him. I have been applying to other jobs and I have an interview coming up at a place tomorrow morning, so hopefully I'll get some good news after that. If I do get this job I'll be back to working full-time and should hopefully bring in at least $500 a week not including tips.
Currently eating lots of ramen to keep grocery costs down and we're not going out or doing anything frivolous. The most we do is get Taco Bell like once a week, but beyond that, we're really trying to spend the least amount of money we can. I have like 18 ounces of silver I'm going to sell soon just to get us a little extra money and I am an artist, so I have been thinking about opening my commissions up for the holidays. Any other tips?
If you could avoid shaming I would appreciate that, I already feel awful as-is and I just want to do better than this and I would love to be debt-free and have a solid emergency fund.
As kind of an explanation for the debt I've had a really rough couple of years, I lost my mom to cancer at the beginning of last year, my sibling got a severe brain injury, and I've always struggled with depression since I was a child, so this has all taken a major toll on me and unfortunately, I used spending to cope. That is absolutely no excuse and I hate that I did it, but I'm so ready to move forward and crush this debt. Thanks in advance!
