There was only one more audio file. I expected to hear Tara, but it wasn’t.
“Hey, Chris. It’s Dad. I’ve made a huge mistake. I think I got some people hurt. I just wanted answers. It was reckless and selfish. I… I have to make it right… Somehow… I love you. I love Gina, Dylan, and Ainsley. I’m going to the mountain. I’ll call you when I get back.”
It was a voicemail from EJ – a voicemail to his son. I was utterly perplexed. The voicemail was dated June 15, 2009. Tara’s last message was on the 9th, so how did all this get on one drive? Initially I pondered origins of the drive, but I was so enthralled with everything else that the how and why took a backseat. This voicemail jammed that thought front and center. EJ knew the kids had gone missing. He felt responsible. He went to find them. Was it EJ that hid the drive in the tree? It didn’t seem probable. It certainly wouldn’t have been any of the campers. The last video file was dated a year after the first interview, and the final word document was dated March 7, 2018.
The video opens and there is no audio. You can see the campsite, only one ripped and partially collapsed tent remaining. The camera moves toward it, a hand opens the tent entrance and goes inside. Amid the balled up sleeping bags, forest debris, and a molded cooler, there is a digital recording device and an old iPhone. The recorder was severely scratched, and the iPhone’s screen was busted. The hand retrieved both and put them in a backpack. The person filming moves out of the tent and scans the whole of the camping spot. There is nothing remarkable. The only remains of the campers rested inside the tent – a desolate memorial.
This is the end of the final video file.
The last file on the drive was titled “Notes.” I had dismissed it because the other two were basically boring. I should have opened it before anything else.
NOTES I have been trying to find out what happened to my father for nearly a decade. I no longer hold out hope to find him alive. I cannot continue the search. This whole ordeal has ended my marriage and put a strain on my children. Not only did they lose their granddad, they had to see me spiral out of control. I got a voice message from my dad in June of 2009. He said he had done something bad. Apparently, he had sent a few kids into the woods where we used to hunt. I lost my best friend up there. I know that ate at my dad forever. He could never let it go. He felt responsible for Aiden. Now these kids went missing. He blamed himself. The police searched that mountain for over a week. They never found the campsite. The eventually found the two vehicles, but that was another dead end. When my father didn’t come back home, I reported it. There was a half-hearted search; it seemed the police had little faith in finding my 72-year-old dad. About a month later, the body of one of the campers was found. The cause of death loss of blood due to a stab wound. The body was found miles away from where the truck and Jeep were located. Another search went underway but yielded no further clues. Weeks went by. Interest in the missing campers and my father dwindled to nothing. I had been going up every other day to search. I was methodical, marking off sections I had searched. I never believed in the stories, and I even hated them for a while. My dad became convinced the Man Under the Mountain got my friend. He spouted that theory at every holiday, birthday, and family gathering for years. I thought he had lost it. The old story says that the Man Under the Mountain calls out to the lost and the unwanted. He calls them home. So if you are off in the woods alone, he may try to bring you into his family, make you his Ward. When all six went missing, I was converted. I was careful when I searched. I wore soundproof earplugs and if I got video, I made sure to turn off the microphone. The drums were not going to get anyone else. It took me nearly a year to finally locate the campsite. There I found a digital recorder and a broken iPhone. I put new batteries in the recorder and had a tech savvy friend replace the screen on the phone. Beyond all reason, they both still worked. I pulled all the recordings onto this USB drive along with my dad’s voicemail, and a few other items stored in the phone. I hesitated to listen to recordings, but I knew my best and possibly only chance of finding my dad could be on them. So I watched and listened. I think Aiden was called by the same drums. I took almost everything I had found to the police. I did not give them the recordings. At best, they wouldn’t believe it. At worst, more would go looking for the Man Under the Mountain. Despite all my efforts and the multiple searches, the only person found was Alan. And I can’t go on anymore. I tried to delete the files. I tried throwing it away and even attempted to destroy the USB drive. It keeps coming back. I don’t know what happened to the phone and recorder, but the drive obstinately survives. The only solution I can think of is to hide it, not throw it away. If it comes back again, it will be my burden to bear. I think it wants to be found. The drums never called to me, but I was never lost. Aiden was. Perhaps my dad felt lost when he went to save those kids. I hope wherever they are now, they don’t feel lost anymore.
I never knew my husband felt lost or unwanted. His parents kicked him out when he was fifteen – the year he came out. We met in college, and he was living with his cousin. We got married a few months after same-sex marriage was legal. We were happy, but some wounds heal on the outside while opening a cavern inside. Once he heard the drums, he tried to fight it. He went about life like usual until it broke him. He had gone off to bed, and I remained downstairs watching television. I heard him cry out and I ran up the steps. Bursting into the room I saw him on his knees in the missile of the floor. His pressed his hands over his ears. His face showed nothing but anguish. There was a kitchen knife on the floor beside him. “Nick!” I yelled, fear pulsing with every heartbeat. “I can’t get it out of my head! It never stops. It will never stop.” He told me through gritted teeth and clenched jaw. Every muscle in his body was tensed. He looked up at me. I was walking towards him, wanting to help, to comfort, and to kick the knife away. “No!” he growled the word, and in one swift motion, he snatched up the knife. “Nick! What are you doing?! Put the knife down. Put it down NOW!” “I… I love you. I…am…so sorry.” He struggled to get out the words and before I could do so much as move, he plunged the blade into his ear. I was in shock. I ran to his crumpled form and pulled out the knife. I called the ambulance, not allowing myself the thought that it was already too late. I used my shirt to quell the blood pouring from him. Then I sat, holding him in my arms until paramedics came. They knew he was gone. I raged at them. “DO SOMETHING! HELP HIM! PLEASE!” They tried telling me over and over, but I could only beg for Nick to be saved.
I buried my best friend, my partner, my husband, my love. And now I have no place in this world.
I think that’s why I hear the drums.

Hi, I've just bought a Shark robot RV2610WACA Matrix and I can't connect it to my wifi. I've done plenty of test like :
-restart phone ;
-restart router ;
-check both wifi 2.4 and 5 GHz, both perfectly responded ;
-uninstalled and reinstalled the app ;
-Pet my little robot and whispering sweet and positive words ;
-Pannic ;
- and redoo it all.
Please tell me that nothing wrong with the bot and just with the app that seems faulty with a bunch of users for the last week.

I downloaded 3 older app version of SharkClean and none of them worked, I keep telling me I have an Error trying to connect the Bot to my Wifi

Any way to get rid of this? So ive had Sweet Roll as.my companion for about a month or two now and this hasnt reslly bothered me up until now, But as i get further into my playthrough, This one still sticks in my log.
I've completed the task way back when i found sweet roll but the game couldnt recognize that it was completed.
Is this permanently stuck like this, or is thsre a way i can trick the game into getting rid of it?

2024.11.26 16:50 Pretend-Fan-6941 My pc is glitching and lagging since a lightning bolt clipped my roof and i dont know if its fixable

below is a video of me playing a game and throughout the clip you can see my mouse stutter and freeze multiple times, it happens in any game i play and also on my actually pc no matter what i do it still does it, i dont know if its fixable as the volts from lightning that struck my roof has effected my motherboard, if there is a fix any help would be really appreciated.

2024 Year in Review I didn’t get into going to live music until last year, and I’m happy to have had such an amazing lineup this year. I was able to get/afford a lot of these tickets by purchasing them at the local box office to avoid the dreaded Ticketmaster fees & also through friends in the industry. Now that I’ve seen most of the big names live, I’ll be pivoting to smaller shows & venues for 2025 (and maybe a big stadium show here and there if it’s an artist I absolutely love). I only included openers that I was able to see for the shows.
