Hey y’all hope you are doing great. I’m sure you get beginner posts often. I’m looking at this setup to start experimenting and get somewhere. Been researching a few weeks and settling on the combination below. Pricing is between online deals and even local used options. The cost is around $400 USD. Just curious what your thoughts are here for someone venturing out messing around with these just for a starting place to get going here. I’m playing more of an indie punk rock style, with mix of heavy and clean and a lean toward math rock. Bass mainly is Fender Jazz bass and looking at buying a Jack Cassady.

Just need to get my story time off my chest and hopefully there’s a lesson in there somewhere.
I met my ex almost three years ago and he was a nightmare for the first year, really played me and it took me a year to leave and see him for what he was but eventually I hit my last straw and left. That year he’ll always have the memory of how much I cared about him and in his words I’m ‘the best girlfriend he ever had.’
It’s important to note that it partly took me so long to leave because I deliberately did not entertain or speak to anyone else so I could gather myself and heal.
When we broke up and I found someone else my ex lost it and made every desperate attempt to get me back - blow up my phone, bring me flowers, cry, try to show he had changed. Tbh it felt like he gripped onto me like a gorilla instead of truly think that I had been through enough and it was best to let me go. That mess ran the guy I was seeing off so I just accepted my ex was to continue being in my life for the time being.
That happened a year ago now. Since then I’ve made sure there’s some form of distance between us to protect myself. We don’t live together, I see him once max twice a week for dinner or to hang out, and it’s been a few months since I last slept with him.
Since then he’s shown me milestones in his change, progress and insight into us. In his mind I know he believes he has to earn me back and show he’s worthy of having me. He says he regrets how he acted in getting me back. We have a bond and outside of being a couple it’s our foundation of friendship that’s strong and we make each other giggle 24/7 which is probably the best part about us. He doesn’t have an ounce of violence in his body, he’s never insulting and is always trying to uplift me. But I’ll never forget his decision to act in such a selfish and honestly traumatic way of getting me back because I asked him to leave me alone and it felt like he ripped me away from something that was good for me and in doing so fucked with my free will because he was desperate to get me back.
I’m much happier in my life now, in a good place in general and I’ve recently come to the decision not to sleep with him again because although I am happy, when I think it I feel resentment bubbling up so in a way I feel like it’s the only autonomy I have to exercise left. Probably silly but I’m hoping eventually the distance will be big enough that he can move on from me in a romantic sense in a peaceful way and we will be over. And I say this because he’s been intentional in showing me that he will wait for me and is another way of showing me he’s changed. I can’t help but feel he’ll get to keep a part of me, but he’ll never fully have me back.
I hope this isn’t the wrong sub to post this in because for a lot of you maybe there was no cheating or manipulation involved. But I’d just say that after a breakup really think about whether you were both ready for each other and could actually make a future work. If you take away the emotion you have for them 9/10 you’ll find that you wouldn’t have actually worked. That just means there’s someone better out there for you, or maybe you’re meant to grow or learn to lean on yourself.
