2024.11.26 20:20 c_a_r_l_o_s_ Earthing system within a campus

Suppose a campus with 5 buildings (powered by 20kV underground cables). Within the same campus, there is a private 225kV/20kV substation, providing power to above buildings.
Designer is proposing to separate the substation's earthing grid from all other buildings, to ensure staff and equipment safety.
I never came across with such proposal(!). For me, this goes against every code I know, and basic fundamental rule (interconnection is the mean to provide safety).
For the MV cables, designer proposes that the screen is earthed on substation side. On building side, they are proposing to pull an additional earth cable to earth back to the substation, the cable termination. (!!!)
What am I missing here?

I noticed some people worry about clients getting angry if you offer them a bad price, but I always try to go a little under the market price. Sometimes they walk away, but it's not the end of the world.

2024.11.26 20:20 Unable_Government_55 [s2 act 3 spoilers] On S2 Act3, what would an extra episode look like and why not?

To preface this, I absolutely loved S2 and really wouldn't choose to change anything about it because I'm not sure it really WOULD be better with whatever I could imagine, but I have seen numerous posts/comments about how Act 3 feels like it could've used one more episode. I personally think that Episode 7 was really more of an act 2.5 so I do wonder what three episodes of the last piece of the story would look like. Here's my imagination at work with the general flow of events, a few minor changes, and a few added scenes. There may be more additions needed for a full other episode, but not sure exactly how it would work. I also will say at the end why I think some of this wouldn't work.
Episode 8:

  1. Add a scene where Jayce and Cait meet up either before Vi wakes up, or after and have Vi there. Jayce gives some explanation of the Viktor problem, reunion stuff happens.
  2. Split the council scene into two with the Vi and Jinx prison cell between (implies Vi is there during the council). During the first portion, have it be more discussion (lines for Sevika) about issues between piltover and zaun and how convenient it is that piltover needs help. People walking out ends that portion of the scene.
  3. Council scene part two is Jayce's speech to the remaining fighters with the cuts to others getting ready as it is now. This is followed immediately by Viktor "The Line" scene to close the episode. Cait-Vi and Ambessa-Mel get pushed to 9.
Episode 9:
  1. Starts with Cait-Vi prison scene, after credits is the Jinx-Ekko scene (kinda awkward a bit but hopefully credits gives enough time).
  2. Unsure whether to add to the initial Jinx-Ekko scene. I understand why people want to see more of that scene, but kinda hard to write talking someone off the ledge in that situation. I'm happy with the show-don't-tell version they did.
  3. Then runs the Ambessa Mel scene in Ambessa's camp.
  4. Add 1 of 2 scenes. Jinx telling Ekko about the current state of affairs and them trying to figure out what to do OR a more visual scene of each of them returning to their people (Ekko with the firelights and Jinx with Sevika and the Jinxers) (maybe do both of these scenes)
  5. Intercut scene of Jayce and co planning with scene of Ekko trying to convince undercity to join the fight. People aren't totally convinced until Jinx backs him up somehow right before cut to black.
  6. Fade back in with the Vi carrying an enforcer scene. Maybe add a little bit (mostly just a moment for Loris before he dies maybe?) Run everything the same from here until the end of the episode which I think should be the Maddie reveal (maybe even have her fire the bullet before the episode ends).
Episode 10:
  1. Start with musical montage of Jinx-Ekko and undercity preparing, maybe it mimics Episode 7 with the Z-Drive montage in some way. After credits, back to regularly scheduled programming of episode 9 content.
  2. Extend the initial 'victory' scene with the undercity coming in to help so that more players get a winning moment, and cuz ekko on his hoverboard looks sick, and cuz I love that song.
  3. In the aftermath of everything maybe just add a Vi-Ekko scene? Not a 100% what could go here to add just a bit of time, but definitely think something would work.
Ta-da. Obviously this isn't very detailed, but just a format of maybe how it could have worked. Once again, I absolutely love what we got and actually see some issues with what I wrote above, but can also see why people might've been more satisfied with it. I think the show went away from some of the scenes above for a couple of reasons:
  1. Animation is expensive and a whole extra episode for not necessarily much more return can't seem that worth it if you think what you have is good.
  2. I think they wanted the 'come play' moment to be surprising in some way. Not necessarily that Ekko and Jinx showed up, but that they brought the rest of the undercity and were flying in Jinx's hideout and its hard to have that stuff be a surprise if you tell too much of their story (like going and talking to the firelights and sevika). If they did think this, this might be the one place I actually disagree with them.
  3. Finally lets talk about Ekko and Jinx. As much as I loved Ep. 7 and love both the characters. Them 'getting together' in any way here would be a bit ridiculous. Ekko just went on a trip, met his perfect girl and then had to give it up to return to a more flawed world where that girl is much more flawed. Jinx tried to blow both of them up both now and a couple of months ago. While them being friends is a nice development, I think it would be really hard to show more of them because it really is such a bizarre situation and I think based on the 'cut dialogue' and axed design choice of Jinx wearing his jacket, they didn't want to lean into the TimeBomb stuff, but rather leave it open-ended which means having less of them specifically together in the final episode.
Finally, since the Jinx-Vi relationship is the core of this show, I was initially a bit disappointed they didn't have more 'sister' moments, but I also haven't added any here because I don't think they make sense with the direction it went. If they have one before Jinx leaves (talk about Isha or something) then her not believing she can ever be good becomes less believable. After the fact, there's no time obviously and I firmly believe there was no true happy ending for Jinx in Piltover or Zaun because of all the tension having her around would cause not just for some characters, but for the ideologies of the cities as a whole. Sorry for the obnoxiously long post.

How would the turn play out if you had Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos under your control in addition to other creatures and Silent Arbiter was in play? Could you choose to attack with a creature other than Alexios and therefore Alexios isn't "able" or does Alexios require priority? The ruling says that if attacking requires mana, Alexios cannot force it's controller to tap mana, and therefore even though he could attack given the mana cost, he doesn't need to. Would having other creatures to attack first allow Alexios' controller to not attack with him given Silent Arbiter is in play?

2024.11.26 20:20 Will_it_Last Is it unreasonable to expect your partner to message/talk to you everyday?

I talk a lot. I like to be texted and called regularly from family and friends because it makes me feel connected, that our relationship is secure, I don't like always messaging first because I want to feel as if they want to talk to me, etc.
I'm considering trying to date again at the end of next year and if that happens is it unreasonable to expect your SO to talk to you daily? I realised with my slimeball of an ex he would check in on me, message me daily, etc until about 3 months of dating then gradually stopped which among other things made me slowly lose interest in him. Considering 1. He was doing it prior showing he is capable of doing it and 2. I didn't like carrying all the chats. I tried talking to him about it and his reaction is 'well that's the way I am' which also seems he faked it to get me interested in him. In my previous relationship, I do suspect my ex was also trying to cheat on me and failing to do so then taking his frustrations out on me over it.
