2024.11.26 20:16 Celestialfridge Proportional Representation, what will it take?
I don't think it is any suprise that the idea of another General Election be it in 3 months (as the gammonati want) of 4.5 years, is enough to fill many of us with dread.
Well lookie here! A Quote from Keir Starmer during his leadership bid: “We’ve got to address the fact that millions of people vote in safe seats and they feel their vote doesn’t count".
Sure sounds like a pretty compelling reason to have a proportionate voting system, about time we caught up with the rest of Europe, no?
Enough waffling. Labour even by my very left wing standards is doing... ok. Which tbh is high praise. They could do so much more but (putting on a normal centrist hat) they are making hard decisions and that is commendable.
The issue is is that although they are doing the right things, they are being fucking eviscerated for it by the media. Farage has higher approval rating than him at the moment, will this last? Who can tell. That is a bad place to be and I know we likely have at least another 4 years for this to settle down and smooth out a bit, the media will come for Labour at every chance they can get. The way I see it the next election going is one of a few ways:
- Labour remains as is, a centre party, the typical right wing callings will drag them ever rightward entrenching the Tories and Reform as less extreme, they get the most seats but no majority and form a coalition with the Lib Dems.
- A new party comes up with a solid left wing/socialist ideology, this galvanises the Greens, Independents, the ousted Labour MPs and potentially some Lib Dems and current Labour MPs, the likelihood is they won't win but to be taken seriously will be a good place to be. The concern will be that they take votes from Labour and allow a right wing win/coalition.
- Labour slide back left, bringing back in the left wing MPs and revert towards Corbynism/ Leadership Starmer style, once again win votes but no majority with Green/Lib Dem coalition.(Very unlikely).
- Labour sees the writing on the wall and has a voting system referendum. It passes and we have Proportional Representation at the next GE enabling a centre party with Labour forming coalition with Greens/Lib Dems to maintain majority.
The final issue I see is that it they don't do it soon and do it in an election year it'll be a sign of weakness (basically admitting they know they can't win under FPTP). If they call it soon, it is a bold move that shows their confidence in the electorate to make a proper decision on their future.
So for the poll question:

I'm deciding between buying a foundry reserve 22 inch ride vs light ride. I'm leaning towards the light ride but want to know if the normal weight ride would still be somewhat crashable like the light ride. I like the crashability of the light ride but don't know if it would sacrifice some stick definition.

I'm a guy who has always had an extremely hard time telling reading a girl's body language. Also I have a very hard time making even the smallest of small talk when I like a girl..soo, There is a girl that works at a popular chain fast food restaurant. She is the cashier and I have a small crush on her.. she seems pretty shy and she usually doesn't say anything but the bare minimum of telling me my total and asking if i want a receipt. She will answer if I ask how she is doing today or when I say have a nice day but if I don't the she doesn't. Well the other day I told my self I would just give her a compliment to let her know that I was interested in her.. so when she was completeling my transaction I told her I liked her earrings.(She always wears cute earrings) After she thanked me I told her that I thought they looked nice on her. Even that simple show of affection was pretty hard for me. Anyways she thanked me and I left. So the next time I saw her she did as usual but when she asked me if I wanted my receipt she realized she had closed her drawer without giving me my change back. She apologized and seemed embarrassed and she went and had the manager open it back for her and gave me my change but this time before I said anything she made eye contact and said in a low shy voice "bye" and she waved a small cute wave at me. I know it's a very simple thing but it seemed outside of her norm.. I wonder if that means that she feels more comfortable with me or maybe she likes me.. idk I want to give her my number just in case because i dont feel like we have the opportunity to talk enough because i only see her when shes working the drive thru but also I dont want to be weird and ask for her number if she doesn't feel comfortable enough to give it too me yet..Any girls have any thoughts it would be very helpful..

2024.11.26 20:16 Hairy-Sir-5851 Edgetx update issues
Got my new radiomaster tx16s mk2 to use with my fixed wing and quad. Unfortunately I can't update it to the newer versions past v2.9.4, if I try to it just bricks until I get v2.9.4 or lower again. The closest I've got is updating in bootloader using the sd, while I can update to the newest version it doesn't update the bootloader which still says v2.9.4. Idk if that makes much difference but it'll make updating more annoying. Any help is much appreciated!

2024.11.26 20:16 BigGunE What is a "field"? Are "fields" real?
I always only treated it as a mathematical/geometric construct. I imagined a 2D/3D Euclidean space and just assigned values to points within that field. But that honestly is just me graphing/plotting in my head!
I realised that I have no physical intuition for what a field actually is! Are "fields" just mathematical constructs to help us make sense of things? Or do they have actual properties and characteristics of their own?

2024.11.26 20:16 RedLlama26 Chainsaw alternative carb replacement
Good afternoon to those here in chainsaw land, I would like to replace the carburetor of an old McCulloch (If I recall correctly, it is a 38cc PM325AV with Zama C1Q M33C carb). But I cannot seem to find a suitable place to order a new carb. Is it possible to replace an old carb with a different model carb? Perhaps a more modern one that is not obsolete?
I know there are rebuild kits, but if I could buy a whole new carb for not too much money, I would like to do that.
I also have a slightly different model of McCulloch (a little smaller, maybe 32cc PM2-something-something) that also does not work and probably needs carb work, but I do not recall the carb number for that one at the moment.
