Don't get me wrong, I want to beat SF. I can't stand Shanahan, he has given Brady and Mahomes 3 super bowls combined, so I would love to embarass him in front of the entire country. I would also love to see Miami lose in front of the entire country on Thanksgiving. But clinching in Week 13 only gives us the 1 seed to play for....for the next 5 games....
I know McDermott will have the boys ready every week regardless, I'm just concerned we could not be playing our best come playoffs, especially if we get the 1 seed...
I would love to see if I'm the only one thinking this way or what the benefits could be of clinching this early.

2024.11.26 21:40 EveryonesUncleJoe How would "saving" on union dues put any worker in a better position? I need someone to explain this to me like I am nine
It seems naive to me to think that if I was spared the roughly $1000 I give to my union a year that I would somehow be financially better off, and that my job security would not be an issue. Yes I am solid worker, but again I am not naive enough to think that if the company's best interest was to replace me, regardless of how good of a worker I am, that they wouldn't.
We just finished a spicy round of bargaining which resolved the outstanding pay issue where previously we were entirely under a performance program -- zero guaranteed wage increases. We also had an issue where if operational delays occurred we had to pay ourselves with our own banked time. (Also a privilege we as union members have versus non-union where we can bank overtime to then take days off.) Both have been resolved where we get guaranteed hours of work and therefore pay, minimum wage increases on top of performance pay, and increases in differentials (which are dues exempt) that we have to use all the time. So in my eyes, we have secured what is thousands of dollars more in compound earnings just in this contract alone, and yet my peers are still grumpy about a few hundred bucks (which is tax deductible in Canada) each year.

Just relistening to some episodes from earlier this year while they are on a break.
At the end of Episode 473 - "Regular Guest Natalie Cassidy and an Eastenders Quiz" - David reveals he has literally just received a speeding ticket/bus lane ticket for driving over Pulteney Bridge in Bath. He's clearly just been shown it live on the pod as his wife is in the background. It quickly moves on and the podcast ends.
Going back to Episode 464 - David's Beautiful Bath Tour Part 2 - David is driving around Bath and name checks loads of places. You can follow it along to the incident. David name checks "Avellinos Italian Deli and cafe" and does a questionable Italian accent. He drives along Bathwick Street, before turning down Henrietta Road. He mentions driving past Henrietta Park, Henrietta Mews and Henrietta House before coming to Laura Place Fountain. He says his destination is Spring Gardens Road but misses the turning. This is when he explains he is driving over Pulteney Bridge. Before ending at the cricket ground he's ended up accidentally driving past.
From various websites: "Practical information about Pulteney Bridge: Be warned, cars are not allowed on the bridge, only buses and taxis." and "Don't drive over it, we drove over it, completely missing the sign that said it was a bus/taxi lane only. We duly received a £60 fine."
It's possible he did do it on another occasions driving around Bath, but I'm guessing he was a bit distracted with trying to show off.

Just like the title says, my best friend of 14 years ended our friendship after 14, maybe 15 years because she couldn't just apologize and grow. I don't need advice. I just want to grieve and move forward. She didn't want to treat others with respect and projected her bad qualities onto me. Like she didn't even see me for me anymore. She wouldn't apologize for all the overly critical things she said, the overly judgemental faces for things that made me happy. She childishly ghosted me after meeting me believe she was listening to my pain. I won't beg her to treat me better. I can love myself without her. It just hurts to love someone so wholly, even with their flaws, give them a shot at growth and vulnerability, and watch them fumble. Truth hurts. But I have genuinely been really happy without her. I thought I needed her.... But I was just limiting myself.

Hi fellow cat lovers,
I’m in need of some help and advice for my little furry Houdini. We recently moved house, and while our cat has settled somewhat in the new place, he’s developed this maddening habit of - sometimes - disappearing for days. When he is finally located, we discovered (thanks to some kind neighbours) that he’s been trekking all the way back to our old house! It’s about a mile away. And he miaow’s at the old house. As soon as our neighbour see him, we go back to pick him up. But again, it can be days. And for days we just worry!
I’ve tried regular collars before, the standard ones with a bell, but he always seems to Houdini his way out of them. Every time I think I’ve solved the problem, he comes home collarless, looking smug as ever.
Now, I’m considering getting a GPS tracker or AirTag, but I’m hesitant. They’re not cheap, and I’m worried he’ll just lose it again, leaving us no closer to knowing where he goes.
Before anyone suggests keeping him indoors—I’ve tried. I really have. But it’s just not an option for us. He gets incredibly stressed, climbs the walls (literally), and becomes destructive. For endless reasons (including my sanity), it’s not viable.
So, I’m turning to you all for advice:
1. Are there any tracking collars that are escape-artist-proof or designed for cats like mine? 2. Any clever hacks to keep them from taking collars off? 3. Are GPS trackers worth the investment for a cat like this? Thank you! 🙏
