At 19 I would have found the idea of playing UT2004 at 60Hz with V-Sync absolutely inconceivable. That latency! I could never stand tearing, but I would compensate for V-Sync's lag by running high refresh rates on my CRT. At 35 I'm playing the game V-Synced on a 60Hz LCD and it doesn't even feel that bad. Lord, help me, my brain must be in decay. Are my reflexes really that diminished? This must be what it is to be getting old.

I had a sclero embo just over 2 weeks ago and my varicocele has shrunk a tiny bit but it also very solid and a bit tender to touch. Is this normal? How long until the varicocele will completely go/shrink?

The date was 11/25/2020 and I just came back home. I was drunk and openly flirting with you on the phone, yet I had my head screwed on straight enough to tell you that I was considering going to my mom's house the next day for Thanksgiving. You encouraged me to go.
I listened to you. My brother picked me up. I never went back home. I had been overworked, exhausted, used and abused by my husband for the very last time.
I'm looking at the life that I have now. I could not have imagined this 4 years ago.
If you don't know by now, I'm very thankful that you told me to go. I'm even more thankful that you reaffirmed my decision to leave him when you sent me the text, "I'm drinking champagne, and I'm raising my glass to you."
Thank you SO MUCH for having encouraged me to go, A! I had no idea that a simple Thanksgiving dinner would forever change the remaining course of my life and position me to chase a better future.

Got a job interview for a fantastic job guys, it's tomorrow ! They asked for three references and there's a consent forms to contact current employers. They're not listed in my references by number and I said yes signed the form and emailed it without thinking.
What do you think I should do ? Leave it, ask them not to and revoke consent ? Will that hinder me possibly ? A girl at my lousy company did something similar and our company let her go. What should I do ? I do still need a job until hopefully getting this job !

I have this work coach and we really do not gel well at all. He treats me like an idiot (and I'm really not) Anyway, I had this employer who I thought we left on good terms with, but they have said we didn't and they don't want to hear from me again. I have told my work coach several times the situation and this 'they don't want to hear from you' is growing arms and legs. Now apparently this company isn't happy with me and I did something terrible (Not going to go into details.) This has been brought up time and time again as a way to back up one of his points.
Something I told my work coach in a conversation is now being used against me too. I mentioned something that happened in my social life, and now he is using that as well as the employer's 'comments' to back up his point that I'm stupid, basically. What do I do? I've already complained and I don't think anything has been done. I have no evidence that this employer has said anything against me because I haven't seen the comments they made. I don't see why everything I say is being held and used against me to back up his points that I'm lazy or stupid.

It's time for a new entry in my series of posts sharing some great but often overlooked horror stories available for free online.
This time it's "The Open Door" by Margaret Oliphant.
This story does a good job of demonstrating how the supernatural can be terrifying even when it's not actively malignant. The ending is a little cliche, but the early buildup and investigations are great, and it's a very good story overall. It certainly impressed me more than other Oliphant stories I've read so far, and I think it deserves notice.
If anyone reads the story, let me know what you think!

It’s been edited to fix Nick’s offbeat “You’re gonna get it!” at the beginning of the second chorus. If you were at the show, or saw the livestream of it, you probably know what I mean. Also, Chad’s snare rolls in between the first few notes of the second chorus weren’t in the original recording either. I think I heard a few other small differences as well.
It’s not unprecedented, because they fixed mistakes on the 311 Day 2004 DVD also. I’m not hating on it, I think it’s fine to do it.
