Anyone do warranty service on their TV at 22 months? My remote keeps disconnecting, not turning on TV--yes I've tried replacement remotes. Something's buggy with the hardware. I just learned it's a 2 year warranty on large TVs-this is a U8H USA model. I visited a local AD recently for a catch up and in conversation I was surprised to hear my guy tell me that the 5811 is now an “application piece”, i.e. one where the allocation is approved directly by Patek themselves. He also said they receive one 5811 each year (despite being in one of the hottest US markets), that Patek requires you own 5 other Pateks before being considered for a 5811, and that any other Nautilus reference is more achievable (outside maybe the 5740g).
I was aware that AD’s themselves might require you to buy several other Patek references before a Nautilus allocation but it being a requirement of the brand itself and also it now being an application piece were big surprises for me. He said around 80% of Patek’s production is accounted for by non-sport references and that the brand is “trying to move in a different direction”. I get the impression Thierry truly resents the success of the Nautilus and probably rather loathes it.
I’m visiting a salon next month and I’ll be listening carefully to how they talk about the Nautilus!
Any truth to this? What do you think?

2024.11.27 05:31 PensionFinder CR1 or K1 under my circumstances?
I am a UK citizen but live temporarily in Canada (can secure another 1.5-3.5 years residency from today). Originally me and my partner were going to do K1 because we've heard its taking 3-6 months to be approved, but my dad got diagnosed with cancer this year and is still undergoing treatment. It's terminal but treatment will prolong his life (we don't know how long). I currently fly Canada -> UK every other month to spend time with my dad, so even with AP, K1 may not be a good option as I don't want to get stuck in the US if my dads health takes a turn.
We have the idea to get hitched in the courthouse this weekend and file CR1 instead, but the wait time is a little longer (about 12 months currently). But it could be worth it for me to be able to be around for my dad.
I had a couple of other questions about the process:
- If my visa runs out in Canada and I cant get onto another one whilst i-130 is processing will that cancel the application? Could I move back to the UK without affecting the CR1 process?
- Do I have to go back to the UK to do the interview, or will I do it in Canada if thats where I live?
- If I did K1 and applied for AP, can I travel in and out of the US freely? Could I still keep visiting my dad every other month? How does it work?
- I live in Vancouver and you can go to peace arch to file a lot of US immigration paperwork. Can you process CR1 related stuff at peace arch? (does it make it faster?).
