2024.11.27 07:30 Satchitbananda UV Sterilizing Water in 20 Liter Plastic container
I like collecting spring water and drinking it at home, but if the water sits in the container too long, especially at room temperature, it starts to grow a bit of green stuff.
I thought UV sterilization would be an easy solution, but I see it takes 90 seconds for just 1 liter with a not cheap portable UV sterilizer wand on Amazon.
I don't mind dropping some money on a decent UV sterilizer, and time isn't really an issue. It could sit in there overnight for all I care (although then I might invest in a glass container, not sure how UV interacts with the plastic over longer periods of time). I also wondered if an aquarium UV light would be the way to go.
In any case, all I'm looking for is an easy low effort solution to stop microorganisms from growing in the containe. I'm not worried about filtering any particulates, the water is otherwise clean and drinkable (city tested) and.. quite excellent!
Can anyone help me make an informed decision what UV lamp to buy, or if there is any better solution?

I don't know if anyone else watched pauseunpause as a kid but him and andrea(his ex gf) were my favorite people to watch play the first game and now most of his videos are gone because he removed them after him and his gf broke up. I (F 31) work in a lab for a pretty big company in the US (TN, specifically). Over the last year, they have made cut after cut, lowering the amount of employees we have in the lab to where we only had one person per shift on night shift. I think this is either illegal or frowned upon because they made a work-around to where someone would be there at least the first hour of the person who works alone’s shift. (In order to say there was someone else there at the same time/ “on the same shift”.) It seems seriously dangerous to work with chemicals by yourself, at night, AND be the only person in the entire plant that’s a first aid responder. I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble but it all seems so sketchy to me. So….does anyone happen to know? Is this illegal? Or is it just incredibly dangerous and maybe not the best decision but legal? What should I do? I love my job but something just doesn’t seem right here.

hi everyone. I’m using a burner account in case my other has some info that might ID me. I really just needed to get this out and express myself a bit and if anyone has had a similar experience and how to try to process it.
So, I got rejected from my alma mater today. I feel so disappointed because all of my research was done there, I worked so hard there, I’m about to get a DEGREE from there, and I feel like it was all for nothing. I also feel selfish because I have gotten other interviews that I am eternally grateful for because of how grueling this process is. But, the thought that I have to leave behind all of the friends and the community I built, without even having the opportunity to interview, makes me upset.
Now, let me just say I’m not saying I don’t deserve it. My MCAT was on the weaker side and I definitely could have improved my application. But, I thought I had a shot, especially because I don’t even think my UG is a top 30 med school.
Anyways. Absolute best of luck to everyone, and I wish all the best and good vibes to everyone this cycle. I will get over this eventually, but I just needed to air out my disappointment and ask if anyone has any advice to keep me going through it (still got one semester left…)

So I am 19M I study in a vtu affiliated college I am facing yearback due to the vtu rules of having 16+ credits in backlogs i studied hard man i really did I used be up all night and study I was confident I will pass the exams even I wasn't sure about 1 exam but the rest I was sure of clearing them there are people who did worse they managed to pass but I failed in everything I am sure i would hav passed the same thing happened in my first sem there also I failed.
I applied for reval for my exams but I didn't pass, majority who applied for reval cleared but mine didn't clear but I am sure i had written enough. Due to what happened last time I didn't put for reval this time I lost all hope in the exams because I had genuinely put effort and i still failed i kinda lost all hope and I haven't met my friends cuz I don't wanna meet them because I had previous issues with them I can't call them friends because they talk shit behind my back even though I put genuine effort it was recognised my friends did nothing but make fun of me and made themselves feel better cuz there is someone below their level they had that sense of superiority over me and still made fun of me I was strong person before I met them but due to some incidents they told I had shit personality and told i don't know how to talk to people previously I had a don't give a fuck about others opinion kind of personality but now I became very conscious of what other think about me to the point I can't even do what I want because I think what will other think because my friends influenced me lik that. When I spoke on my behalf they would say i would end up alone and this is why u don't have any gf or female friends. When this year started i thought I was blessed with good friends and good education now ending of the year I have none of that I am living only because of my parents because my parents are supporting me I know this is not the end but I am very exhausted and tired with myself and toxicity in my life I have time till next August or July for the exams till am trying to keep myself alive by going to gym but it's not working I was a very sociable person but due to incident with my so called friends i am scared of talking to new people whether they will also hate me I am very confused some times I feel lik I don't want friends but sometimes I feel lonely i might kill myself if this how it's gonna keep going I am hitting that platue I am trying to keep myself positive and keep myself busy but it's not working. 2024.11.27 07:30 Reasonable-Wolf-3254 Baclofen issue! Please help!
I started taking Baclofen for extreme muscle tension while I am doing a benzo taper. Insomnia was no major issue of my benzo taper. I could sleep around 9h most days with the help of an antipsychotic (been taking this for 3 years way before benzo use). I took Baclofen for only 8 days!! As soon as I stopped I developed the WORST insomnia of my life. I wake up every 30 minutes. After 4 hours I lay awake for hours on end. I am already going through a hellish benzo taper. This has been going on for 7 days already. I can’t bear it. I can’t believe this after 8 days? Seems impossible. But it has to be related. What do I do now? I even thought about reinstating the Baclofen but I don’t want to become even more dependent. Will this go away soon on it’s own? Why doesn’t it get better? I am desperate for some sleep. I was on 12.5mg 3 times a day.. I stopped because my heart palpitations got way worse and it lowered my heart rate.

 | So I picked up this guy today for the PS5 thinking I might be able to map it for telehandler and other hot button work. I still have the PS5 controller. I was thinking it might be a suitable substitute for the Logitech heavy equipment side panel on console. I play on PC too but sometimes get tired of gaming at a desk and want to kick back in the recliner. Was wondering if anyone else has tried this and had any luck? If so, what button mappings are you using? Also there are 4 expansion ports that allow you connect additional peripherals was wondering if anyone had recommendations? I’m also kind of user testing this for my grandfather. He’s an OG farmer IRL, 78 years old. I used to farm with him as a teenager (wheat, soybeans, and hay mostly)….I bought him FS22 for his birthday and a PS5 to run everything. Set his game up with all the same equipment he had before he retired. He loves it, and has put over 400 hours on it in under a month. But he doesn’t have a gaming PC and struggles with the controls on console. I’d like to set up with something a little better on console similar to a real tractor since that is familiar to him. There's a reason for the title, I promise, lemme just give you some context if you are ready for a ride. I will be posting in a day-by-day style since I feel it'll be easier to understand my thought process since I'm just an observer. I am a med student (23F) on clinical rotations and at my current location there is only my instructor (Adam) and his assistant (Izza) in a soundproof, tiny workspace that's closed off from the rest of the department. I get along with them very well and they are very fun to talk to and learn from. Izza went on vacation last week and Adam still has to train/supervise me but perform Izza's job at the same time. I've been at this location for a few weeks and am comfortable being on my own for most cases/tasks but I'm still slow and need help with the workload that Adam usually would cover. I would handle more complex cases that take longer and Adam would tackle the easy cases that take an average 2-5 minutes each. This is where a per diem coworker, let's call him Useless Ustes, comes in.
Day 1: Adam already confirmed with Useless Ustes that he will be working and covering his responsibilities while Izza is out (5-6 business days). Useless Ustes comes in about 9-9:30 (we usually come in b/t 7:30-8) but only stays 1-1.5 hrs before frantically telling Adam that his wife's in labor and he has to go. Adam is a dad himself and lets him go. After he left, Adam noticed that Useless Ustes only took care of some of the lowest triage cases and left a half-asses case partially performed, so he had to rush to get the top cases done before the carrier came to pick them up. We later found out that day his wife was not in labor, she was at an ultrasound for a baby that's neither of theirs because she's a surrogate for a friend. Adam was frustrated and we wondered why Useless Ustes was in a huge hurry, but maybe his wife still wanted him to be there for support so we didn't push it.
Day 2: Before Useless Ustes came in, Adam told me he got a text from him saying he just "raged quit" his other job at X hospital. When Useless Ustes came in at 11, Adam was already doing his initial job and he went straight to the computer next to my workstation to work on something. I thought he was doing additional training because we just got a new software update. From my peripheral view, the few times I noticed him, he always had his phone in his hand sometimes texting. No biggie, I see Adam text all the time and I don't know the full work culture. After an hour, Useless Ustes told Adam his wife's mucous plug broke and asked to leave. Adam was tired and just let him go. When I told Adam that explains why he was always on the phone. Adam was surprised/upset and realized why he took so long. It turned out Useless Ustes was just supposed to make a correction for ONE of his easy case reports from yesterday. I'm less experienced and it takes me max 10 minutes to make corrections, and that's if I had to physically find the case and reexamine it. Also before he left, he told Adam that he didn't rage quit X hospital! He got fire! The rest of the day Adam was so frustrated because Useless Ustes not only made his job harder by always having to double-check/correct his work and can't even commit a full work day after agreeing to, but is now lying about stuff that doesn't matter. So it makes us wonder what else he's lying about. This was also the day I found out that Useless Ustes is planning to apply to my school to be a worker at the hospital/instructor for the program I'm in. He thinks he will have an advantage because he is an alumnus of my school! I love my instructors and director and would be so disappointed if he got hired but Adam made me promise not to tell anyone. (He did give me permission to post on here though) I think he felt pity for him since he's the sole provider and his wife won't be making much from this pregnancy.
Day 3: Again before Useless Ustes came in, Adam asked me if I noticed the two phones that Useless Ustes had. Apparently, both phones were giving frequent notifications. I told him no but we speculated why he would have them. Adam automatically thought it was an affair phone and I thought maybe it was a work phone but it doesn't make that much sense since he lost his other job. Another idea was maybe it was a dealing phone but Adam doesn't think so. Useless Ustes came in around 9:30 and stayed 2-3 hours this time and didn't make much of an effort for an excuse and just left Adam more of his cases to clean up.
Day 4: Useless Ustes came in at 9:30 and asked to leave at 11:30 for whatever reason (spoiler he left at 11). While in, Adam casually mentioned seeing the extra phone and asked if it was his and why he would need it loud enough to catch my attention and my ears perked up. Sadly, Useless Ustes spoke too low and I had to wait till he left to know. Adam had to step out for a while and I was left alone with Useless Ustes. I can't explain it but something felt off. My internal guard automatically went up and I had a hard time focusing on my cases. He didn't say anything inappropriate but he did give off a condescending/creep tone giving advice on the program and how he "succeeded". I did find out what year he graduated though (which is important). Adam came back and Useless Ustes left shortly after, leaving behind another mess for Adam to clean up. Adam then told me he said he has an extra phone because he uses it for banking and spam calls (finally got to the title, I know). But we both found it BS and solidified our suspicion that it was an affair phone. So, Reddit, is this a legit reason, and if so, why bother carrying it with you if it's a throwaway phone? Are there any other innocent reasons why someone would have 2 phones?
Useless Ustes also told Adam before he left that he had another job at Y hospital but was recently put on suspension for.....sexual harassment! Apparently, he told a new girl he was training to "get on your knees and clean it up" after she accidentally spilled something. Idk if he's just an idiot, had a suggestive tone, or both but she reported it. Remember when I said his graduation date was important? Well, he graduated the same year and was in the same class as my classmate's(who's a very close friend) older sibling! So of course I called her up and told her this whole story and she was texting her sibling at the same time. Her sibling said they are not surprised about Useless Ustes because he had a reputation for causing chaos wherever he goes, being cocky, a creep, and can never maintain a job. I feel more comfortable now that he's less likely to get the job since his reputation is well-known.
We have a few more days with Useless Ustes and Adam and I miss Izza dearly. Will try to update as the days go on.

I’ve been working on a player for a game, and I’ve gotten a four directional walk, but I’m really struggling with the angle of the player running towards the camera. To me it looks more as if the character is speedwalking rather than running. If anyone has any advice on how to actually make this seem like running (or what’s wrong with the arms because they look weird to me and I don’t know why), it would be greatly appreciated.
